I'm trying to deploy my MVC 2.0 web application to a Windows 2003 server with IIS6, and can't find the means to do it. I read about clicking Build/Deploy, but I don't have this showing on my menu, and I have the professional version.

Can someone point me to a step-by-step guide on how to deploy ASP.Net applications to a totally empty and brand new Windows 2003 Server?The server has ASP.Net and the .Net framework installed on it. IIS is up and running. I have created a new application pool.

I have a clean installation of Windows 7 with VS2010 RTM and am trying to get the ASP.NET Development Server to work. When I run the project, the WebDev server starts and shows that it's listening on port x on localhost. I've tried:telnet to the port. The port is not listening. running netstat -o shows that the WebDev server is in fact not listening on any port. manually changing the WebDev port to a different port and restarted VS without effect. I have Windows Firewall turned off entirely and am not running any other firewall software either.

View 2 RepliesI installed Microsoft Windows Sever Enterprise Edition (rus) SP1, downloaded (manually) and installed Windows Server 2003 SP2.Installed VSTS (Visual Studio Team System) 2008 (with MS SQL 2005 Express with it, MS Office 2003, MSSQL2008 Developer Preview), IE7.And my Windows Update does not detect/autoupdates any updates/service packs for VSTS2008 and MSSQLServers...like Windows XP, only updates for operating system Windows Server 2003, .NET, IE7, MS Office, etc.
Is it something wrong with my setup?Should Windows Server 2003 autoupdate detect and install VSTS2008 and MS SQL Servers updates, or should not?

View 1 RepliesI have a simple web app project in Visual Studio 2010 (converted from 2008 project). For some reason when I publish the app, Visual Studio doesn't copy the App_Theme -folder to the publish destination folder. This will cause the app to fail when deployed to production environment.
App_Theme is considered as "system" folder by VS (shown as grey), which means that I can't manually set it's publish properties.
how to get VS to copy App_Theme -folder when deploying?
My colleague and I are both using VS 2010 and we have created a web application each. We can both publish our own applications to a ftp (web host's) and it works fine. However, if my colleague send me his solution and I run it locally on my machine it works but when I try to publish it I get promped for password and I enter it (same as I use for my application) but it fails. Same for my colleague if he takes a copy of my solution and tries to publish it.

I have tried creating different release versions and cannot see the option, also have no new options for publish, just look like the VS2008 ones.
Is there some service pack or pack that i need to install these or does it sound like a reinstall?

I have built my site using VS.Net 2010 on my XP machine. I would like to deploy it to my server which is a Windows 2003 Server. I have tried to do it with FTP, but it keeps failing with the error that "Front Page Extensions are not installed on the web server". When I check the server the extensions were installed and I also checked IIS and the service for the extension is allowed.

Even though we will develop new applications to be deployed on IIS7 but if situation demands we may need to develop an application using .net 4.0 and to be deployed on IIS6, then in this case I wanted to know whether IIS6 supports .net 4.0 application or not?
If I can deploy, then do I need to take care of any configuration or any other setting I should change before deploying it?
