Visual Studio :: Passing Report Parameters To SubReport In 2010 RDLC?

Oct 25, 2010

I'm having some troubles defining and passing report parameters to subreports in VS 2010. In VS 2008 in the design view I was able to right click and define the report parameter and have it passed through.

In VS 2010 that prompt is missing. So my question is, how can I pass a value from a parent report to a subreport in VS 2010?

Additionally, this is what is shown in the Report Properties dialog inside of VS 2010:

For the time being I have defined the parameter in the subreport manually in the XML but I'm receiving an error from the main report when I attempt to pass a parameter of any type to the subreport.

The error is :

An error occurred during local report processing.
Value cannot be null. Parameter name: value
Where I do not have a parameter named value defined anywhere.

Visual Studio :: Use Parameters In SQL Statements In Visual Web Developer 2010 Express?

Nov 1, 2010

I have a form that I'm working on in Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I have a dropdown list to choose a data from the database. I want to use the chosen list item to populate a GridView object. This seems like it should be a simple thing to do.I have a data connection which uses a fixed SQL statement to populate the dropdown list and that works fine. I can select an item on the list and retrieve the correct information for the next query (namely an ID value for the next SQL statement).I have the data connection with another SQL statement to populate the gridview and that works fine. The gridview is currently just showing the entire dataset (it doesn't use the item that was selected in the dropdown list. Now I want to change the gridview's data connection to use the selected item in the dropdown list as a parameter to modify the SQL statementWhen I look at the properties of the data connection for the gridview data, I can bring up the Query properties and see the select statement. I also see the properties panel. I can add a property Name (Mine is "ID"). I then chose "Control" in Parameter Source and selected the ControlID for the dropdown list that has the ID information that I want to use for the parameter. I went into the advanced properties and modified some of the information because the ControlID is a Text field and the Database Column is a BigInt.My select statement looks like this:

[Code]....

What I don't know is how to get the parameter into the select statement.I've tried:

[Code]....

Visual Studio :: Exporting A .rdlc To Excel / Analagous Export Of That Report To Excel?

Nov 2, 2010

I've got an .rdlc report which I print from my .net app (C# Visual Studio 2005), where I use a RemoteReportPrinter object. I give it as parameters the server name, report name, report parameters, etc. Works fine. My question is, I would live to do an analagous export of that report to Excel. Set it up exactly the same, but have it export to Excel rather than print, probably using some other type of object than RemoteReportPrinter.

I would like to create my reports by drawing out the data from the database. After creating my template (what would be in my report) and saving it as the .rdlc format, what should i do next do preview the actual data, or to present it in my asp.net pages.

I like the way how report builder works as it can export to pdf/excel, however its a standalone. Is there any way to make it similar in microsoft visual studio 2010 professional?

VS 2010 Conditional Processing In Report (RDLC) File?

Mar 15, 2011

I added a new report template from the Reporting section of the Installed Templates (rdlc extension). I have successfully created a connection and am retrieving data into textboxes that I have placed on the report. My problem is that I want to do a Test in the Expression template, but I cannot seem to do 'if else' statements. Can anybody give an example of how to perform conditional processing for a textbox on an rdlc page. i.e. The expression for just populating a textbox might be:

Code:
=First(Fields!Actioned.Value, "MyData")
What I want to be able to do is something like

Code:
if =First(Fields!Actioned.Value, "MyData") = "val1" then 23 else 25 end if
Coding for this control seem to take VB/VBA Style syntax.

SQL Reporting :: Passing Parameters To SSRS Report From Web Page?

Sep 2, 2010

I have a web page that displays some data. When they click a submit button, I want to run a report. But I would like to pass the start year/month and end year/month values that the user already entered on the web page to the report. Here is what my url looks like when the report is displayed:

http://xyzserver/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fReports%2fDevicesAllNew&rs:Command=Render&StartYYMM=201007&EndYYMM=201008

But my report displays the 2 textboxes for my StartYYMM and EndYYMM parameters as empty. What am I doing wrong? I did a google search and I saw something about using ReportServer instead of ReportManager. I notice at the top of the browser when I run my report, it reads "Report Manager - Windows Internet Explorer". Is this correct?

SQL Reporting :: Passing Parameters From ReportViewer To Local Report?

Jan 5, 2011

I am developing a web app containing an embedded Reportviewer control, a dropdownlist and Ajax TabContainer. The ReportViewer refreshes the report for every tab click in the TabContainer or for every SelectedIndexChanged event of the dropdownlist. The report I am generating is a 6-month trending report displaying statistical data for the last 6 months from the month and year selected in the dropdownlist. I have used Report Parameter to pass the selected date value (from dropdownlist) from the code to the Report (.rdlc). Using Expressions in report file I have displayed last 6 months names from the passing date value. The C# code looks like this.

ReportParameter p1 =
new
ReportParameter("ReportParameter1", [code]....

The problem is I am not able to set parameters more than once using SetParameters. I will need to pass the parameter value for (a)Everytime the dropdownlist item for month is changed (b) Everytime the TabContainer ActiveTab is changed (c) When the page loads for first time displaying the report for first time. Can someone advise how to pass different values for the same report parameter under different scenarios? Can we change the parameter value passed once it has been set using SetParameters?
