on desktop start has disappeared, getting above issue on double clicking/running any application.have VS2005 installed with sp1 and all other relevant updates as per MS..., i read some forums which states because of VC++ the system files may be currupted....have not installed VC++can anyone guide me the issue here and its solution...
View 3 RepliesOn one server, everything works. I am attempting to call a C++ assembly from C#/ASP.NET application.
When I deploy the web application in another server, it fails with the error message:
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect" I have copied the dll into the correct folder which has permissions for the user and the application pool identity. The path has been added in the PATH variable. The DLL is fine and is not dependent on any other DLL.
When i try to run my web application in visua studio 2008 a error window comes out that says: Unable to start program [URL]. The system cannot find the file specified. I googled but not got the solution for this problem. I have VS 2005 and VS 2008 both on my machine. I also unistalled VS 2008 and reinstalled it but that does not solve the problem.
View 5 Repliesgot a new bigger, better, faster pc at work. Installed VS 2008 and went back to normal developing in VS 2008 on my pc, with the files on our dev server, which is on the network. But, whenever I set a breakpoint, and enter Debug mode, I get this error: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Failed to start monitoring changes to 'ServerABC' because the network BIOS command limit has been reached. I get this error when I hit F5 in VS 2008. I have checked that Windows authentication is enabled on the site and it is. I can mannully attach the debugger to the IIS process and it works. What could be wrong? I have tried alot of things without success.

I'm trying to publish my ASP.NET web application in Visual Studio 2010. I'm then trying to install it as a website on a server using IIS. I've gotten my application to publish (to a .zip file) but it points to the physical directory on my hard drive. This obviously will not work on the server.

The code I have works fine, you goto website/username and it loads the correct sub pages, but you have to restart the application to goto website/username2 to load those sub pages. But when the application is restarted the second one works, but then not the first one. Is there some way to create a different route collection per session not per application using system.web.routing.
View 3 RepliesI am getting the above error whenever I attempt to run an application from the IDE. Any application. I have literally created a new asp.net "Hello World" app with absolutely nothing other than the aspx page, no code in the code-behind, and the only change to the web.config to enable debugging. The app errs immediately. Nothing is written to the event log.
The error is unique to asp.net, Visual Studio 2008, and has only recently started. I can run asp.net apps in VS 2005, and windows apps in 2008.The only thing I'm sure that I've done recently is installed SP1 for .net framework 3.5.
I already have a web application running successfully develeoped using Classic ASP by the previous web pregrammer. Since I'm not familiar with Classic ASP, I tried running the source code in Visual Studio ASP.NET. However, I'm unable to run it (expliciltely denied). May I know whether there are special things to note when opeing and running a web application developed in Classic ASP in ASP.NET? The previous web application is connected to the school server, but I'm using my laptop's local host to run the application. Is that why I can't run the application? What are the steps needed to connect my ASP.NET application with the server.

I am logged in as the administrator when I installed an application named pdflatex.exe on my server. This application works as a converter from LaTeX input file to Pdf file. I host an Asp.net MVC 3 application running under an Application Pool Identity with Load User Profile = True. From the scenario above, the web application runs under a restricted acount but it executes an external application under a default account that I don't know. Can an application running under a less privileged account start a process executing another application under an administrative account?
When I click on New Project-> Visual Basic (or C#)-> Web, the only options i get is AjaxControlExtender, AjaxServerControl and ASP.Net Server Control. How do i get the ASP.Net WebApplication option to show up?

View 10 RepliesI'm about to start a new module in my existing web application project (already completed 3 modules), due to more data entry and volume of data handling my PM informed me to go this module on windows application (vb.net), but i'm requesting him to go with web application since i'm much familiar in web applcation and all my completed module on web.
But he is thinking on performance part too, if i get some idea / suggestion on the same so that i can clear and i will go with either option.
The module is Service Billing with LPO Control, Billing, Proforma, eBilling, eApproval, online billing etc.
I'm looking for a way to providing users (administrators) of a web application to automatically (meaning it's opt-in to update, but the installation should be automatic when started) update said web application when new versions are released.
The reason why I want an automatic approach is that I want the users to be able to update the web application while it's running remotely, without having to gain physical access to the machine (including RDP).
I could of course write my own code for this, but I would prefer to use something like ClickOnce that has been around for a while. Is it possible to use ClickOnce for this?
Or is there an alternative for ASP.NET applications that I have not been able to find?
It is important that it's the user that does the update and not me, so I don't think WebDeployment is the way to go, but I'm willing to listen to scenarios where this would work.
The users are not system administrators, so I want this to be as fool proof as possible.
I'm using Visual Studio 2010, ASP.NET 2.0 (.NET 3.5). If a solution requires switching to version 4, this is possible, but not preferred.
