View 1 RepliesDebug-Start Debugging/Debug-StartWithoutDebugging OR Project ASP.Net Configuration launches Dreamweaver. It started lastnight, I had both Deamweaver and VWD 2008 express open at the same time - (I was looking at JQuery in the Microsoft and Dreamweaver enviroments simultaniously). After the first tie this happened, I closed down Dreamweaver (CS3) and it opened when I tried to run my VWD project. I reinstalled VWD 2008 express, IIS and disabled Dreamweaver (renamed the exe). Dreamweaver still came up.

i have a very annoying iis problem
iis server stops working until app pool is recycled
i am hoping that new visual studio (net framework 4.0) may solve this very annoying unsolveable problem
Im working on a website project with Visual Studio 2010 from 2 different computers (home & work).
In Dreamweaver Im used to FTP to upload/download files to/from a webserver to syncronice my files on the current computer Im working on.What is best option in Visual Studio 2010 to sync project files between home & work computers? I have seen there is a built in FTP, but seems only it can upload files, limited functionality?
I have solution with several projects, while debugging it gives me this message.
I tired to change it's properties to enable debug but didn't work.
when i opened my Visual Studio 2010 i noticed that my ajax tab was missing from my toolbox and ajax control kit too. Then i noticed even that when i create new website, there is no web.config in it and it should be.WHAT IS GOIN ON???? :/
View 13 RepliesAnyone know if I can maintain a VS 2008 (.net 3.5) project by using the VS 2010 IDE ?
View 1 RepliesSome days ago all of my projects started working crazily - I'm using VS 2010, .NET 4.0, Silverlight 4 SDK, WP7 SDK. The previously compiled code parts can be debugged as they should be, but as soon as I make any change to the observed .cs file all symbols are ignored.
"The breakpoint will not currently be hit. The source code is different from the original version."
However, the compile is successful, moreover the changes in the code can be seen in the debug mode as well (e.g. if i add messagebox.show(...) it works as expected), but I'm unable to debug the project.
This happens to my Silverlight, WPF, WP7 solutions, Web Applications, so everything important. The most annoying thing is that I even reinstalled Visual Studio, the whole .NET Framework 4 Client Profile, but nothing changed.
I don't want to reinstall the whole OS, but this way i'm unable to work:/
I have web project and window project.Web project reference from window project and I want to debug from web project to source code in window project. Where do I setup to look for debug source code in window project.
I copied all source code from another computer. but on another computer can debug just fine. All that different is where the source file is located. so I think it should have some config in studio that tell where the source file is.
I have tried attaching the debugger to the IIS worker process and have a break point on the asp page. But it never hits the breakpoint.
I am able to debug the aspx pages in the same site using the above process.
This is weird: When I try to debug ASP.NET web application, Visual Studio 2010 gives me this message "Script debugging of your application is disabled in Internet Explorer", but in my IE 7 (Internet Options --> Advanced), both "Disable Script Debugging" checkboxes are not checked.
what happens to my Visual Studio 2010?
It is possible to create a Visual Studio Web Setup Project that deploy my files outside wwwroot folder and set IIS virtual directory to this folder?

View 1 RepliesI have a simple web app project in Visual Studio 2010 (converted from 2008 project). For some reason when I publish the app, Visual Studio doesn't copy the App_Theme -folder to the publish destination folder. This will cause the app to fail when deployed to production environment.
App_Theme is considered as "system" folder by VS (shown as grey), which means that I can't manually set it's publish properties.
how to get VS to copy App_Theme -folder when deploying?
I am not able to debug a Remote web project (Where the project files are located in another server which is in the same network). I am getting the below error message:

It works fine when i try to access the website through IIS. Shud i do some setting changes on VS 2005?
I've tried with
<trust
level="Full"
originUrl="" />
When I am actively developing it is extremely cumbersome to write some code, fire up the debugger to test said code, wait a minute for the debugger to start, look at the page in the browser, stop the debugger, edit the code, rinse, lather, repeat. I can get around that by using CTRL-F5 and CTRL-SHIFT-B during development but I lose all the benefits of the debugger. Is there a better way to use the debugger, or something else I can do to get quick rebuilds and use of the debugger? I/we do write unit tests, but you also need to test your app in the browser so please no "you shouldn't have this problem if your unit tests were written properly"
View 5 RepliesI am having a hardtime script debugging in VS2010 and IE8. I am using .net 4 framework. When i try to make a break point in my client script in VS2010, i get the respond "This is not a valid location for a breakpoint". Then I have tried to use IE8 Developebar, but when i try starting the script debugger it throws an alert, and tell's me that it couldent attatch to the process, because there may be another debugger attatched to the process.
View 4 RepliesIm having an issue when I create a new ASP.NET Web Application within Visual Studio 2010, this creates a web.config configured to use SQLEXPRESS. The default web.config that VisualStudio generates for New Web Application Projects still points to the SQLServerExpress Database which I had previously removed! The only instance that I have now is SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer. The web.config that is created along with other files for the for New Web Application Projects template:
[Code]....
The question is how can I change this web.config thats created with the ASP.NET Web Project template automatically from Visual Studio 2010? I can go in and modify the web.config by hand obviously. It doesnt make sense to have the web.config automatically created this way whereby the connectionstrings point to SQLServer Express that does not exist. I did in stall Visual Studio 2010 which included SQLServerExpress, but that I later removed. Now is VisualStudio always going to create web.config's pointing to SQLServer Express?
I have downloaded a project from the internet called the SMS Source example. I wanted to open this project in VS2010, so a conversion wizard has popped up prompting for the conversion. But it has errors in converting.
Error msg:
Conversion Report - SMSSend.csproj:
Error converting project file. MSB0001: Internal MSBuild Error: Missing resource 'MissingAttribute'
F5 builds the web project and the opens the web site but the project is not in debug.
This has happened over the last week but I was not aware of making any relavent configuration changes or updates.
I recently updated my VS2010 website project from .NET 3.5 to 4.0. Everything was working fine in the website project. Today I decided to migrate the website to a web application project as I have learned this is the best way to work in .NET. I split out all my class files into a separate class library and copied all my other content into my new project. Then I updated all the references and web.config.
When I build the class library, everything works great. The problem is happening when I try to build/debug the web application project. It is acting like all the controls are missing and it is also throwing a bunch of compile errors about the public properties I have in my master pages.
Control errors: "The name 'INSERT CONTROL NAME HERE' does not exist in the current context"
Master page errors:'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition....
It is giving these errors for every single control and master page property in my entire solution.I notice when I add a new web.form to this project, it also adds a filename.aspx.designer.cs file in addition to the .aspx and .aspx.cs file. My existing files do not have these extra files since they were created in a different .NET version.
UPDATE: It seems I was missing the step where I need to right click on the new application folder and select "Convert to web application". I just did that and it seems to be a little bit better...
Now it is choking on Literals that are inside single quotes:
<div class='<asp:Literal ID="CssClassLiteral" runat="server"></asp:Literal>'>
It doesn't see this literal when it does the conversion... Is the above valid code or should I implement that functionality another way?
I have installed VS2010 ultimate and have read with interest about the new publish options, config transformations but none of them are available. I have tried creating different release versions and cannot see the option, also have no new options for publish, just look like the VS2008 ones.
Is there some service pack or pack that i need to install these or does it sound like a reinstall?
I'm trying to deploy my MVC 2.0 web application to a Windows 2003 server with IIS6, and can't find the means to do it. I read about clicking Build/Deploy, but I don't have this showing on my menu, and I have the professional version.
View 1 RepliesI've run into a particularly nasty bug where an ASP.NET website attempts to make a call to a WCF service method that sends IIS into a death spiral...that ultimately brings down the associated app pool. It never gets to our log4net code that outputs unhandled exceptions.I was watching w3wp.exe processes spin up and die, so I figured I'd take a dump file on termination using ProcDump from SysInternals using the following command
View 2 RepliesI am using Visual Studio 2010 and ASP.NET 4.0 to build a WebForms project that uses the new routing features in System.Web.Routing. When I build my solution and run it from within VS.NET's debugging environment only routes with RouteUrl's that include a ".aspx" extension are being properly routed to the PhysicalFile. It appears requests made to other URLs are not being "detected" by the routing engine for processing. In the case below, "Scenario1" shows a 404 and "Scenario2" works properly.
Here is the relevant code in my global.asax:
