May 5, 2010I have a solution I have been working on over the last few weeks with a 3 or 4 projects in that used to build and begin debugging in under 10 seconds.The solution contains 3 dll's and 1 mvc project.
As of today, it takes about 2 minutes to start debugging, it keeps pausing on "loading symbols for ccpCodeProvider.dll".
I'm debugging on the internal vs development server, and I haven't changed anything since yesterday?I haven't ever used symbols before, and I'm not trying to debug the framework or anything, I just want my stupid web project to run.I created a new solution from scratch and added a random console app, and that also takes forever to debug.

Dec 10, 2010I keep watching instructional videos that utilize the VWDE 2008, which apparently did NOT start web projects with a site master. It only created the defaults but did not create a site master nor did it create the directives in the @page.
I'd like the option of doing this in 2010. Is there some configuration setting that controls this?

Apr 13, 2010I get an HttpException (details below) after installing Visual Studio 2010 Pro RTM in an application developed using Visual Studio 2010 RC. The platform used was ASP.NET MVC2 RTW (already under VS10 RC).
I first uninstalled all RC software and even ASP.NET MVC 2, and then did a "clean" install of VS10 RTM. The ASP.NET MVC 2 version now installed on my dev machine is 2.0.50217.0.
Exception Message: Error executing child request for handler 'System.Web.Mvc.HttpHandlerUtil+ServerExecuteHttpHandlerAsyncWrapper'.
InnerException Message: <FilePath>ViewsLanguageRenderLanguageNavigation.ascx(6): error BC30451: 'Model' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.
The error occurs on this "Html.RenderAction":

The "LanguageController" just calls into another service function as below:

Does anybody have an idea what is causing the problem?

Jan 18, 2010Why does the Web Platform Installer force you to install SQL 2008 Express?
I have a production server which already has an installation of SQL 2000 but no web development tools are installed. I would prefer not to add SQL 2008 Express if it is not necessary. The server in addition to being the primary intranet webserver is also DC, APP SERVER, FILE SERVER and basically does not need to handle an extra instance of SQL.
The main purpose of this is just one of convenience to have the web development app on the RDP Desktop instead of attaching to the server in some manner (ftp/unc share).

Right now, I'd want to connect to SQL server database to move ahead and store and retrieve data into the database. Apr 8, 2010In the Visual studio IDE is it possible to step backwards in the debugger? If this is not possible,can I somehow trace my step backwards in the compiler?
Also if I am stepping through C# code in the debugger, is it okay to add documentation in the file while I am debugging? I tried this and recieved a pop-up message box informing me that the code had changed. Otherwise the IDE seemed forgiving in regards to comment changes in debug mode. Also I guess this might also lead into the question of wether it is acceptable to add code during debug mode?
Visual Studio 2008 Debugger Detach?
Oct 4, 2010My Visual Studio debugger detaches every time when I try to access a property in a web application. I don't use Visual Studio's inner webserver, just the standard IIS. It seems like that property has somewhere a stack overflow

aspnet_wp.exe (PID: 5200) stopped unexpectedly
I've tried to delete all temp folder including ASP.NET temporary files, no change at all. I've tried to start devenv.exe /log
but in the log xml, there was hardly any exception. Is there any way to get that exception which causes the debugger to stop/detach?
Plus info is that another colleague can debug that property. I've tried to get his vssetting file, but no change.

Aug 24, 2010I am attempting to debug my Visual Studio 2005 project. I have Internet explorer 8 and it's running on IIS.
When I hit the "debug" button, a new Internet Explorer browser window opens and my ASP VB .NET application loads normally. However, Visual studio returns back to regular editting mode and I can hit the "debug" button again. No break points hit but my web page still runs and loads normally.
The Output screen use to show Web.Server(exit 0) but now it doesn't show anything.
