we have made a httphandler and then compiled it and have added its refrence to my project in VS.NETWhen we start VS.NET the referd extention to then above handler works currectly but at the time that we run the same project in IIS 6 (without running VS.NET)and we write the referd extention to the handler in the address bar , an Error 404 appears.Exp. http://mywebsite/default.ttttttttif .tttttttt is the referd extention.

I'm using VS2010 and I'm trying to follow along with these videos:
[URL] and the guy in the video is using Visual Web Developer Express and when he creates a new website it's all nice and simple with a bare bones Default webpage and that's cool. Well, me in my Visual Studio 2010 when I create a new project I get this elaborate "My ASP.NET Application" page with an About page and a Login page and CSS and Jquery and it's just too, too much. Now, of course I could just create an empty ASP.NET application, but that goes too far the other way; I have to start from scratch and add the default page myself and try to reproduce exactly what the code in the video looks like and I can't really see the screen that well. Is there any way I could change my default template to what the gentleman in the video uses?

I am having an issue in VS 2010 trying to get even the default ASP.NET Web Application to run in Debug mode. I get the error:
"Unable to start program 'http://localhost:1443/Default.aspx'.
The system cannot find the file specified."
I am stumped here and cannot find anything out there with this error.

I have recently upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010 after a few months away from ASP.NET coding and I am hitting a problem I never had before. I seem to remember having a lightning bolt icon in the properties window for a web form that would automatically create the skeleton event handler code for any one of a range of page events. However, I cannot see this lightning bolt anywhere in VS2010.

I have applied a filter on a page using drop downs.
When i click on apply filter.. the page gets filtered. Now i click on the edit of filtered result.. which redirects me to another page.
I want to send the selected data from the drop downs from the filter page to the redirected page.. and again to the filter page.. to retain the filter. I am doing all this by sending the values in Query string.
Is there anyway.. i can avoid the visibility of the query string in the address bar and still get the values and required result.

i built an web application that need to work with sql server 2005, i'm using
linq to sql for my queries, and i'm using the dataclasses.dbml object.
the problem is that i can't see the database in the server explorer, so, i can't drag and drop
the tables to the dataclasses.dbml object, i understand that the application need to be rgistered
in the sql server to be able to do so and to be able to read and write to it.

I am getting the following error when I try to establish ftp remote connection using the 'copy web site' feature on visual studio 2005.
unable to open the web 'ftp://209.*.*.*/httpdocs'. The computer is disconnected from the network.
Why can't I connect to the remote site on visual studio 2005? I can do the same thing on Dreamweaver with no problem. I can ping the IP successfully. I can open the ftp URL on a web browser with no problem.

All of examples on web assume the remote server which we are going to debug remotely is on the same network. I have only a static IP address and using RDP I connect to server.
I've installed Remote Debugger on remote machine but cannot set the static IP address as Qualifier in visual studio -> debug -> attach to process

I have upgraded to VS2010 recently. Now VS2010 is not opening i get an messg box displaying. Microsoft Visual Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I have just installed IIS manager version 6.1 build 7600 and visual studio 2010 (latest additions of both).
I have followed all the instructions and given the correct permisions ect for IIS to work with my directory. I have a helloworld website that has worked via the localhost server many times, but almost hourly something happens to the settings in IIS and it starts throwing errors.
The current error copied below. Basically I am wondering a few things...
1. Why does my IIS constantly do something so that it works one minute and then it wont the next (this is with an identical helloworld.htm file so I know it is not something I am doing with the file that is messing it up).

now when I type the URL http://mysite/processTask in browser I get HTTP 404 but if I change the add verb line to the following one:

and type http://mysite/ProcessTask.asmx in browser the handler is run and I get the response from the handler. What's the problem? Why is the handler run only when the path contains .asmx? How do I change web.config so that .asmx is not required?
