I have a wcf service which is running on IIS7 using WsHttpBinding but further requirement I need to create another end point using NetTCPBinding. And I want to host my wcf service like if my client application in intranet it will use NetTcpBinding or if it is in internet then it will use WSHttpBinding.
I only made 1 other dynamic page before, without users. I do remember I setup a read-only user to the database and that was the user used in the connection string, simple.
In managing multiple users, does asp.net's membership & roles automatically switch up the databases connection string upon login? Do you setup hypothetical "groups" of user access permissions in your database (mysql) then associate that user to that group in membership & roles?
I'm just looking for a general idea of what to expect before I start reading.
there's an .aspx page that does absolutely nothing in the codebehind, but contains the markup for the page in the Design View. Then we have an .asmx web service that receives requests with JSON content-type. These are called by the JavaScript in the page. This web service returns .NET objects serialized to JSON in response to these JavaScript Ajax HTTP POSTs. I'd like to switch to MVC but am not sure to how switch this architecture. Basically what we're doing is two things:
1) Replying to GET /MyPage.aspx with HTML markup that represents the page 2) Replying to POST /MyPage.aspx/WebMethodName requests with .NET objects serialized to JSON.
It seems like MVC would be a good way to eliminate the need for a Page object (again, the codebehind isn't used--only the HTML markup in the .aspx file is) and an .asmx web service. No? What do I need to start changing to accomplish this switch? Is it straight-forward? Painful? Someone at work already has an MVC page running in the same directory as my Web Forms .aspx and .asmx web service, but I don't see anything in the directory about Routes, so I'm confused. He's got a Views, ViewModels, and Controllers subdirectories.
We are developing SOA based application using .NET 3.5 and WCF & WPF.
One common issue we are facing is mapping between WCF enum and WPF enums. We had to do mapping between WCF enums to WPF enums. Following is sample code
Switch(WCFServiceObject.Status) { Case WCFServiceStatus.Married[code]....
You can see that we have to do mapping WPF and WCF enums. Is there any easiest way to achieve this mapping without writing tedious switch statements? One way of doing this is using Dictionary, but apart from this, is there any good way? We have lots of enums for which have to do mappings.
I have a need for a GridView (that is initially hidden) to skip the binding to the associated SqlDataSource until the user requests a certain condition. At that point, I want to modify the SelectCommand and bind the Gridview.
I am unable to find an attribute that essentially says "don't bind this". What am I missing?
i have run one program in host server at a particular interval (lets say in each & every 1 hour) by using web service. but on my server web service stops automatically after 2 or 3 hour.
I am new to WCF, I have read where you can Bind to a MSMQ, my question is can you also bind to a remote queue running on a Unix box? If this is possible, how would you define your endpoint (address, bining) and what Binding type and binding configuration do you need to use?
using .NET 3.5, IBM WebSphere MQ on unix the QManager is running v6.0.
I am using Kerberos as the Authentication mode for a WCF Client to interact with an ASMX Web Service. I am using customBinding in the WCF Client. I am getting the below mentioned Fault Exception when I invoke the HelloWorld Method by creating a Proxy using SVCUTIL.
`System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHeaderException: Server unavailable, please try later ---> System.ApplicationException: WSE841: An error occured processing an outgoing fault response. ---> System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException:

I am badly struck with this exception and unable to progress further.

I am developing a clickonce application that talks to the server via WCF. So far it works fine with a WCF service that uses wsHttpBinding to talk to the server. Here's what works so far: -
1. I have a WCF web site named "TotemWCF" that runs on an SBS 2003 server (=IIS V6).
3. There is a contract: IService.vb, containing several contracts like
<OperationContract()> _ Function NTVSearch() As totem.NTViewDataTable[code]......
In initial testing I used this for ALL communication, but it seems to me that it's a bad idea to use streaming for simple "Get a value from the database" communication and it seems to be introducing errors into my program. So my question is: - "What is the best way of managing this, so that Function1 goes via one binding, and Function 2 goes via another binding. Do I create separate services at the level of the web site, the contract, the service, or the function?
I am very new to WCF, I have read a lot and seen several presentations about it. I can get the basicHttp endpoint to work on my server but when i wanted to use https, I found that that endpoint binding doesnt work. I think through my research that the wsHttp binding is what i need. I can get the client to work but the service gives me a few different errors when I try to call the ssl endpoint.
Currently i get the following error:
The requested service, 'https://devwcftestsite.crata.ucf.edu/services/Person.svc/Person' could not be activated. See the server's diagnostic trace logs for more information.
Below I have included the web.config for my service project which is hosted at:https://devwcftestsite.crata.ucf.edu/services the service is called:Person.svc
How can I prevent ASP.NET page from automatically binding data controls on the page? I want to increase performance and I want to do binding of each data control based on my own order.
I am developing web application using csharp on Visual studio 2008. Now I want to use a web service which was developed in Java. I am able to add the web service to my application as a refrence but when I want to build or compile I am getting the following Unable to import binding 'CalcualteBinding' from namespace 'http://Calcualte.webservices.CourseZa.org'. .
I am getting int values from the stored procedure. But when i bind this datasource with the gridview i am seeing the values being converted into float. i am using Text='<% # Bind("Quantity") %' I wanna that to be displayed as int, with out zero'seg: let the value be 233, when i bind that its getting displayed as 233.00
I am recieving the following error when I try to browse to "http://10.28.2.246/SQLDataService.svc" yet it works fine at "http://localhost/SQLDataService.svc".

Am I correct in my belief that this is caused by the Web.config file?
I'm getting this message when going to a web app that accesses my service.
"The content type text/html of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8)..."
The thing is, it happens once in a while even when no changes have been made to the service or the web app. And I can make it go away most of the time by going directly to the .svc?wsdl page in my browser and then coming back to the web app.
What's the difference between binding for example a column called ("Name") in both cases ? and is there's any performance difference ?1- Assigning the data in the mark-up
2- defining a control object for every control inside the repeater ItemTemplate and find it and then assign the data in the column "Name" to ite.Item.FindControl("Name_Lbl")
public enum Status { Incomplete = 1, Complete = 2, Cancelled = 3, Deleted = 4 }
Now on a certain page I wish to list this enum in a checkboxlist. This would be fine except that I want the text of each checkbox to display different text than the enum.
i.e the check boxes should say:"Not Processed" instead of "Incomplete"
"Processed" instead of "Complete"
"Void" instead of "Cancelled"
Is it possible to put this enum in a foreach and then switch on the status and update the text. Like so:var statuses = Enum.GetNames(typeof(Status)); foreach (var status in statuses))) { switch (status) [code]....
1) Should I change the iframe to a User/Server control? or just a div?
2) I currently just have HTML links with load my iframe based on the page the user wants to see. How should I load (1) from the main links?
3) I have multiple levels of user controls. So control A could dynamically load Child controls...which each of those could load child controls. Do All these controls get a scriptManagerProxy? WHere should the original scriptManager go from (1)?
I'm using Intelligencia url rewriting currently but have just leased an IIS 7.5 server to put my asp.net 3.5 site on. I installed the IIS URL rewriting module and was amazed at how easy it was to create rules. Creating rules with the Intelligencia url rewriter is complicated (at least for me). Are there any downsides to switching? Is there a reason for me not to move on to the Microsoft solution? This site isn't live yet, so I have time to switch
