i have developed a webservice using wcf. and i deployed on IIS 7.
when i try to browse the svc file(http://localhost/service1.svc) it is opening .
But when i browse with ( http://localhost/service1.svc ?wsdl ) it is saying page canot be diplayed.
In my current project, I have a webservice file called MyServices.asmx. This webservice I want to reference in my Default.aspx.cs file.
My Code:
MyServices newService = new MyServices();
newService.addUser(txFirstName.Text, txLastName.Text, txtEmail.Text,
txtUserName.Text, txtPassword.Text, txtBalance.Text);
But when I refer to that webservice (as shown below), I get error saying: "The type or namespace name 'MyServices' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)"
What should I do to correct this error?
Current Solution of Adding Service Reference still gives me that error.
I am not able to get classes inside web service in class library.
View 3 RepliesI'm getting an exception when trying to access an .asmx webservice within a MVC site. I've tried numerous things like updating the web reference within the console application and building another quick app to test, but can't get passed this issue. If I pull the URL out of the svc variable, I can browse to it directly.

The exception was coming out of the Web Service itself. There were some global variables not being initialized directly through the .asmx call that were being initialized by the application itself.
Some simple checks on variables within the Web Service and setting what needs to be set have fixed up the issue.

I have this Internet web service page(webservice.asmx) being consumed jquery ajax call.
And I am hoping to restrict public request to this webservice other than request from local pages (aspx or jquery ajax call).
The web service checks for form-authentication before it gets executed but I just don't feel comfortable the .asmx page and list of services are viewable.
So users can't just type www.mysite.com/webservice.asmx to access my webservice.
Here's my problem: I have an asp.net app that invokes a java/axis based webservice through a wsdl file provided by my customer. But, as i had no access to this webservice at the dev time, i've created a fake .net based webservice, with the same methods, returning some valid data, so i'd be able to test the integration interface. The problem is, when i add the service reference on my app, pointing to my fake webservice (.net), it's class has a certain name, and when i point it to my customer's wsdl file, it's class has a different name. Generated class name when i add the service reference by:
- .NET fake webservice = "TransferenciaEndpointSoapClient"
- wsdl file of the java/axis webservice = "TransferenciaEndpointClient"
I want the class i've created in my fake webservice to keep the same name of the wsdl, when i add the service reference on my app. I tried to add a "web reference" instead of a "service reference", but it did not work. I also tried to change the name of the class on the "Reference.cs" file, it works on my environment, but it doesn't when i put the generated bin on my customer's environment. I'd like to solve this without having to create a java/axis based fake webservice.

I have a .Net Webservice(2.0 framework) and I am trying to call this service from SQL
server 2005 using CLR.
I have created assamblies on server and trying to call the we service through CLR, but I'm getting below error:

I have a web service which is accessible from the browser. When I try to access the same web service which is hosted on Windows Server 2008 R2, from an excel Macro, it says

The excel macro works fine when I try to access the same web service on the other server(Windows 2000 Server)

Both Web services and Excel macros are old applications which have been running fine for years. The only change is that the application is being migrated to a new server(MCDEAGDWEB202) which has Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008.
The Old server(MCDEAGLWEB005B) has Windows Server 2000 and SQL Server 2000.
I have added a web service as a reference to a windows application using "AddWebRefrence" option. And I am unable to access the funtions in the web service but instead i get the functionnames followed by the completedeventargs and completedeventhandler.

the Default.aspx page.. I added a WebService to the Website because later on the WebService will
subscribe to a Provider(Feed) of News, Sports and Weather and things like that. So when a Linkbutton
on the Default.aspx page is clicked it will connect to the link in the WebService which will load the News,
Sports or Weather onto the Default.aspx web page.
The problem is I can't get the LinkButton to execute the Link in the WebService. The link will call the page up
to where you see all of the Web References. But then if you want to execute one of those references you
have to click its link and the Invoke button that will follow. My questioh is how can the link on my Default.aspx
page execute the link in the WebService. Now I changed the LinkButton into an <a href> but I still can't execute
the link in the WebServices. I always use www.Microsoft.com as the link when testing and I wasn't sure about the return type
so I put "void" for an HTTPRequest, so below is the link from the Default.aspx web page and below that is he asmx file:
