WCF / ASMX :: Finding Information About Data Types
Aug 26, 2010
Well i am just trying to test interoperability between ASP.net And Java web services, wanted to know what are the INTEROPERABILITY issues concering DATA TYPES that are there between the 2?
How many tier architecture are there for ASP.NET?I know only one that is three tier architecture. Can anyone tell briefly about 4 tier architecture and other tier architecture?
in a web page i can fill a form and after submit a was redirected to a confirmation page and there, i must confim and then it's submited.
i'm creating a bot for filling the form but i idn't know how to do it in just one step. this means to send information and confirm withoud waiting for loading confirmation form and then confirm that.
ClassA is a custom class generated from a "type" in oracle database. ClassB is a custom class generated from a "table of type ClassA" in Oracle database.
The exposed service includes a login procedure which gets a username as input parameter and returns object B. Debugging the login procedure I can see that the data is retrieved from the database but not printed in the wsdl..
[Code]....
My ClassB definition is as follows:
[XmlInclude(typeof(ClassB))] public class ClassB : INullable, IOracleCustomType, IXmlSerializable ...
similar definition holds for ClassA as well. the generated wsdl is :
<? xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <ClassB xmlns="http://tempuri/org" />
I have an ASMX Web Service set up to use the HTTP GET method. Simple methods which take basic String and Int parameters are working ok, and I can call MyService.asmx/MethodName?Param=Value and get a response back in XML.
However, when I have a method which has a nullable Int (i.e. int?), I get this error:
< Method Name > Web Service method name is not valid.
The error message is confusing, as the method does exist, just not in the GET scope. I presume this is because a nullable type is too complex to be passed via the URL, but I can't find any documentation or SO posts on this.
I appreciate that complex types like Lists or custom classes etc will not work using GET, but I would have assumed that a simple nullable int or nullable datetime could be handled natively, simply by detecting whether it was omitted from the URL. Guess it's not that simple!
Ranking of CONTAINSTABLE StatisticalWeight = Log2( ( 2 + IndexDocumentCount ) / KeyDocumentCount ) Rank = min( MaxQueryRank, HitCount * 16 * StatisticalWeight / MaxOccurrence ) can anyone explain this algorithm, more importantly i want to know about these variables used in this algorithm, whats their purpose?it would be more useful for me?
I have a thread running in the background that will sleep and pull data from the database when something wakes it up. I am sending the emails using google apps using SmtpClient (code below).
I wanted to know if there is anything i be aware of? I plan to send only one email at a time (a registration or forgot password email). I am a little worried something can happen like an invalid email locking up the thread because i didnt set a timeout or maybe google apps happen to be done and causing the app to blow up. What should i be aware off? I should ask how i should test as well?
i had been developing web applications in .net 2.0 version ,now i need to learn concepts in web services and wcf as they are the major improvements over previous versions... if anyone can provide RELIABLE online resources link for learning about web services and wcf..i had seen the msdn link but am not knowing where to start..??...will there be any virtual labs to practise in .net 3.5.
I am building a RESTful service using WCF. I basically want to save information about a user when they authenticate to the WCF service. For example I want to save their first name, last name, account number , and password in order to access the information in other requests in the same session. Since this information is sensitive I can not store it in a cookie.
I don't want to use asp.net session state because I plan to run this WCF as a Windows Service. Is there something (class, Assembly) I can use that can save user information and retrieve it per request or do I have to create a custom solution that will create an entry in a database every time a client authenticates to the WCF service.
I need to write an asmx service that takes the xml file as input and also gives an xml as output which are validated using an xsd..
I was trying to read about the services that accept xml inputs and return xml outputs.. but all in vain, I couldn't find a proper tutorial and sample codes to work on..
Can anyone give some links to some nice tutorials and samples with asmx services accepting xml data and returning xml data..
I have an application that allows admins to add types such as document types and training types that are in seperate tables with a foreign key in a transaction table.
When structuring my class I decided to go with an abstract-like pattern (without the factory methods though). So I have a Type abstract class that defines my Save, Delete, and GetList methods. I have a training type class that inherits this class. The thing is all types have 3 main properties - defined in the abstract base - but have different source tables and thus different store procedures in my DbCommand object. So basically I repeat setting up the same parameters on all the derived classes. I would like to implement the common stuff in the base but I am getting thrown off by the difference in data sources.
in the client app, i want to handle SOAP exceptions thrown by web service. Currently, when exceptions are thrown by the web service, Detail.OuterXml property of SOAPException class shows below XML data. In code below, what's the correct method to reference namespace, values, etc to get to the error-code, error-field-name, error-message and error-description value?
I m Using a GridView: Columns: "Ser_type" tells what type of data is it i.e. VC for Varchar, NU for Numeric, DT for DateTime etc, for the time being i m using datavalidation controlls at design time. this is not a good approach. I just wan to do is that, DataValidationControlls should be created at RunTime and TextBox should validate data at runtime only. i.e. if Data required in the TextBox is of Type VC then it should validate only at runtime, if DT then validate DateTime only at Runtime similarly for all dataType:
I have IEnumerable object with value1 and value2. value2 is an array and value1 is string. I want to databind this object to Listview like that. So both value1 and value2[0] (always first item in array) could be accessed via <%# Eval("value1") %> and <%# Eval("value2") %> .
I have datatable consist of 20 records and i want to bulk insert into sqlserver through the asmx webservice. Can anybody guide to me or provide Sample BusinessLogic and webservice code.
I am confused that predefined datatypes like String,Integer Int32 etc. are Class or something else? Since there symbols that appears through intellicence are different than other classes. The predefined datatypes have different Symbols than Classes. What could have been written inside those datatypes?
I need to convert .NET data to XML types and viceversa and I wonder if there is any class already on the .NET framework to do it. UPDATE I want to perform a data type conversion.
The biggest difference between double and decimal is that double is a floating point variable type whereas decimal is a fixed point variable .What it means?? Please Explain the abovePoint with Example.According to me both are used to store the folating numbers, then whats the difference between two?
