WCF / ASMX :: Hook Multiple Role Providers With One Service?
Sep 10, 2010
Is it possible to hook multiple role providers with one service? I want client A to connect to service A with roleprovidername A & client B to connect to service A with roleprovidername B
I have a custom membership provider and a custom role provider in a .NET assembly dll called Qws.Web. The full namespace path to the classes are Qws.Web.Providers.QwsMembershipProvider and Qws.Web.Providers.QwsRoleProvider They both inherit MembershipProvider and RoleProvider respectively When I include the assembly using a project reference in VS2010 it all works fine. The minute I publish the website and project to the staging server (using IIS7) i get the following error: Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed. You can see the site at [URL] I've tried all of the usual stuff and been trawling the internet for the last two days.
1. The Qws.Web.dll file IS in the bin folder 2. My Web.Config file is below:
[Code]....
3. The providers are not in the GAC and not in the machine.config file as I only want them available for this site.
Unfortunately, all the examples for Forms Authentication Code Behind w/ Custom Role and Membership Providers I find online are written with a VB.NET code behind and I need a C# code behind. I need a codebehind that will do the following:
authenticate user upon login button click if user active_flag=0 (false) OR password!=@password, display error: "Access Denied" if user admin_flag=1 & active flag=1 (true), redirect to admin_pageszipsearch.aspx if user admin_flag=0 (false) & active_flag=1 (true), redirect to pageszipsearch.aspx
want to create one web service but I have many classes. I want to call all classes in single wsdl. For example [Assume web service implemented in this class]
[Code]....
my Asmx file is User.asmx.Now when I add webservice reference in website, I want to access as following way
I've got a WCF web service that runs fine at the moment but there is talk about using it very heavily soon. As part of it's normal process it writes a file out, then reads it back in again (don't ask why, I know it's stupid). I'm concerned that if we start hitting it with lots of requests then the following might happen.
1. Request 1 writes the file out.
2. Request 2 comes in and overwrites the file.
3. Request 1 reads the file back in but this is now the wrong file.
My understanding is that the requests would naturally queue up so that request 2 wouldn't start until request 1 had finished, but I'm not totally sure.
I have to define a web method which will fetch XML documents from another web service based on the list of projects from the database. Now I need to send these XML documents in different SOAP envelopes. XML documents can be more than one.
I've been tasked with writing a SP (Service Provider) for SAML v2.0 in ASP.NET, and I wonder the following; If a user logs in on the main SP for a service (where my SP becomes accessible for a user as an anchor/link, unless previously bookmarked), and then requests access to my SP, how should I handle their login?
They will have logged in and become authorized by the IdP on the main SP, but how will that SP tell my SP that the user is logged in? Will I have to send a new authorization request to the IdP to determine whether the user is logged in or should it be passed on as post data/redirect with a query string from the SP? I've read the technical overview as well as the basics, but they don't cover this part. I will contact the main SP and ask how to proceed, but I wanted to cover my bases first and see if there's a standard way on how to deal with this situation.
There is the following design: the back-end implemented as WCF, the public front site and two intranet sites (all three talking to the back-end). I believe that authentication on the sites is not enough (i.e. passing ClientID to WCF in each request as a parameter) and i want to protect my back-end (WCF) with authentication to perform double-check and have PrincipalPermission on the methods with roles specified.
I'm sure that identity names from both providers do not cross (public logins are digits only and the intranet will be something like 'DOMAINLogin'). The front site uses forms auth and its provider returns GenericPrincipal. The intranet sites use Windows auth and i have WindowsPrincipal attached to Page.User.
Is it possible to configure WCF to use two membership providers (custom one that the front site uses and Windows) out of the box, without writing another custom code? Is it important how my WCF is hosted? Currently it's windows service. Do i need to switch to IIS 7?
I know this question is asked (and answered) a lot already, but I believe my situation is unique.
We are using the ASP.NET SqlMembershipProvider. However, we also have some less-secure content we would like to secure by adding users directly to the web.config, like so...
Is it possible to use this method alongside a SQL Membership Provider? If so, how?
I know it's bad practice to do this. This is only a stepping stone as we move parts of our website into the asp.net application. We would like some of those password to be easily editable without going to the database.
In my web application am using ASP.Net Membership for authentication ann role management. But now i have a situation where i need to authenticate multiple clients against different DB based upon the URL request being send. Below is my web.Config Details.
Am using form authentication for user authentication. In my login page am using Membership.ValidateUser(username, password),which is using default membership provider. Now my situation is i need to override the default DB and connect to multiple DB based on URL request send to my web server.
My application starts with a login screen. Based on what the user selects, I would like to control which database to connect to. (DB1 vs DB2). The problem is, when the application starts the Role Provider defaults to "rp1". Is there a way I can change the default provider during runtime?
I have the following connectionStrings in my web.config file: ... <add name="myApp1_dev" connectionString="Server=localhost;user id=root;password=;persist security info=True;Database=dbOne" providerName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" /> <add name="myApp2_dev" connectionString="Server=localhost;user id=root;password=;persist security info=True;Database=dbTwo" providerName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" /> ...
I dont know if this was the best way (somewhat new to vb.net), but in my Login.aspx page, I set global session variable to one of the two connection strings. If the user logs into App1, it uses connectionString myApp1_dev; if user selects App2, it uses myApp2_dev. My question / problem is: Each of the two databases have their own MySQL membership and role tables. If the user logs into App1, I would like to the dbOne database tables. If user selects App2, select dbTwo tables. Can I support Roles from multiple databases?
I have created two custome membership providers that I would like to add to my web.config. The first one would be the default that the asp.net application would use. The second would be called by a WCF service that I have in the same application.
The providers in the membership section of my web.config looks like the following:
if i have the web application with many pages like add order page, edit order page, and delete order page actually they also interact with the Sql Server 2008 and i also create web service page call Sales_Service.asmx. i know just i need to put something like query into Web Method in Sales_Service.asmx but i have a lot of queries, i don't know which query i should put into it and how the web page call the Sales_Services.asmx
A customer reported that our asmx web service is continually increasing in memory (mem usage as well as private bytes). We are able to reproduce the problem in our lab with Windows 2003 Server SP2 (fully patched) on some of the machines. The customer is using Windows 2008.
We created a Hello World web service targeting the 2.0 framework built under VS2005 SP1 and a test client that continues to call it. The memory increases steadily - approximately 40K per client request. If the test app is paused, the memory remains the same. When it is closed, the memory drops. Explicit calling of GC.Collect does not drop the memory.
We have run the memory profiler on the service and the leak is all native memory. We have uninstalled/re-installed the Framework on one of the machines but no difference. To our knowledge all of the security and IIS settings are not modified. We have compared app pool, default web site and virtual directory properties to machines that have no problem and they are identical.
I have a .net app developed in .net 4.0 version. And I implemented an asmx web service in this. Now I want to call one of the webservice method in another classis ASP application java script function.
Is it possible to run a web service as a particular user/service account in the same way a Windows service can?I have a service account used for connecting to the DB and want to run the webservice under this account as the users using the webservice won't have DB access. The way I see to do it is to include the Impersonate option in the Web.config file, but is there any better way to do this?
How to create an instance of web service without adding web service reference? How to identify the server address/name where the web service is hosted from C# code?
My WCF Client calls my WCF Service which then calls ASMX Web Service. The problem is i have configured my wcf client and wcf service to windows credentials type but when wcf service calls asmx service the user credentials (default windowsidentity) is not passed to asmx service.
In WCF Service i am able to get user identity by using : Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity.Name; WCF Service - i have disabled anonymous access and enabled windows authentication. ASMX Web Service - i have disabled anonymous access and enabled windows authentication. WCF Service Config [Code]....
i have created a normal web service and i want to host it outside IIS. one idea i got is to use window service as hosting environment. i have created a web service and hosted it window service and its window service is running now.would anybody please let me know that how can i call web service hosted in window service binded over soap.tcp. here is my sample code.
