View 1 RepliesI want to pass a property of the type System.Uri to an WebControl from inside an aspx page.
Is it possible to pass the property like that:
<MyUserControl id="myusercontrol" runat="server">
<MyUrlProperty>
<System.Uri>http://myurl.com/</System.Uri>
</MyUrlProperty>
</MyUserControl>
instead of:
<MyUserControl id="myusercontrol" runat="server" MyUrlProperty="http://myurl.com/" />
which can't be casted from System.String to System.Uri EDIT The control is a sealed class and I don't want to modify it or write an own control. The goal is to set the url-property which is of the type System.Uri and not System.String.
The HTML label control is on master page. And I want to access its value on other aspx.cs page. As there are many other control on the master page so i use the recursive function to access the value but NullReferenceException occurs... The code on aspx.cs page is as:
[code]....
i have a doubt if i write html button in source code, how can i access in aspx.cs,
View 3 RepliesI have code something like this.
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this, this.GetType(), "Submit", "Confirm()", true);
Confirm is the JavaScript function in .aspx page. I want to catch the "true" or "False" value returned based on the Click performed on the Confirm window to my code behind(aspx.cs) page.
i have a hidden textbox in my aspx page. The aspx page also has a masterpage in the <% @Page> directive.
<input type="hidden" runat="server" name="txtType" id="txtType" />
actually in aspx.cs i am getting txtType.ClientID="ctl00_MainHeaderContent_txtType"
I have a webpart in a webpart zone in this aspx page. In the webpart CreateChildcontrols() I need to access this hiddenTextbox value. I am able to access it as
string TxtValue = this.Page.Request.Form["ctl00_MainHeaderContent_txtType"];
But instead of hardcoding I want to access as a control in the page or form. How can I do that I want to do as looping through the controls in the page but Page.Controls.Count gives 1 and that is MasterPage. How can I get the entire controls in the page and loop through and find the hidden textbox. I also tried as string TxtValue = this.Page.Request.Form["<%=txtType.ClientID%>"] in CreateChildControls() of the webp[art. But could not access hidden textbox like this.
I have a requirement where I have a webpart and two ImageButtons(imgGV, imgLV) and a hidden input textbox('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType') in an aspx page. I need to change templates to this Webpart either to show results in "Grid View" or as "List View" on the click of this ImageButtons. I added code in the page_load of .aspx page as
imgLV.Attributes.Add("onclick", "document.getElementById('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType').value='LV';return true;");
imgGV.Attributes.Add("onclick", "document.getElementById(('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType')).value='GV';return true;");
When I am clicking the specific ImageButton, it has to write into hidden field either "GV" or "LV". In the webpart CreateChildControls I assign templates based on the text in Hidden field either "GV" (Grid Template) else "LV" (List Template). In the CreateChildControls of Webpart for the template change, I am getting the Hidden value as empty. I am using coding as
HtmlInputHidden t = new HtmlInputHidden();
t = (HtmlInputHidden)this.Page.FindControl("ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType");
if (t.Value=="GV") {
assign one template}
else { another template}.
I am getting t.Value="". Question is: Is it like if we add some text in a hidden textbox using the Javascript function in an aspx page, the same textbox value in the same aspx page but in the Webpart class in the CreateChildControls method using the code as this(webpart).page.FindControl("Textbox").text is showing empty. So the text added using Javascript into Textbox is it not available in the code behind code using "Text" property of the same Textbox?.
dont know if this is teh correct forum for this q.i want to know how can i get an image from the scanner connected to the computer using asp.net and C# code behind
View 1 Replieshow do access master page variables from .aspx page
View 1 RepliesI have a.master and b.aspx .
i have some functions in my aspx page.
how to access that functions in a.master page.
I am trying to do something such as:
<%= Class1.GetName %>
in my ASPX page, but my class1.vb can't work like this, I have to declare it first in the aspx page, how can I make my Class1.vb file be shared among the whole website?
I desingned a page with tags, Now I want to access object tags in code behind.
This is aspx page code....
<object type="label" runat="server" class="System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label" id="label_priority" parent="-1" bindedfield="priority" empty="1" value="MyValue">
Here I am adding runat=server in object tags it is giving error as
"An object tag must contain a Class, ClassID or ProgID attribute."
then I added class="System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label", now not giving any error but not showing anything in browser.
so My question is how do I access object tags in aspx.cs page? or I want to create a label with object tag that is accessible in code behind.
C# or VB.NET are welcome.
I have an <%#Eval("FirstName")%> in the aspx page, I want to replace "FirstName" to <%#Eval(employee.FirstName)%> but "employee" object
is instantiated in the codebehind like this:
Public employee As New Employee
How can I call this object in the aspx page? Should I can create an "employee" in the aspx? if so, how to do that.
I put common code in the app_code directory. I access classes in the code all the time from aspx.cs files by "using" the name space from the C# file in app_code and then referencing the class. Now I want to access a class from an app_code file a aspx file. How do I do this?
View 8 RepliesI have a button control called "btnAdd" located at a cuser control. I am using the usercontrol in an aspx page. I need to create a new button control in the aspx page that reference to the button control (btnAdd) located in the user control , so I can use its code in the aspx page.
View 4 RepliesI am on .aspx page and i want to take the width and height of a control from a static class
where i have defined them as constans.
Is there any way to access that class directly from the aspx page?
I know that i can make a method like:
width="<%= getWidthSize() %>"
and inside the aspx.cs to define this method to take the size from that static class.
But i am asking if this could be directly managed from the web aspx page...?
i have 2 textbox controls inside a usercontrol TextBoxUC.ascx i have a page.aspx that contains the usercontrol. how can i get a reference to each textbox using javascript from page.aspx?
View 3 RepliesI'm using ASP.NET with VB, and .NET version 3.5. In the project, I've got some utility functions that I call from expressions in the aspx pages and also in code behind. This all works fine on my local machine, but when I deploy to the production server, I get this compilation error on each of those utility methods:
BC30456: 'XXX' is not a member of 'String'.
where XXX is an extension method defined on System.String. I'm baffled about this for a number of reasons:
Why is ASP.NET compiling anything at all, since I've precompiled the application and put everything in the bin directory. ASP.NET knows the functions are there because they work in code behind. It's only when used in the aspx page that I have this problem. (e.g. if I do something like this: <%= "A string to XXX-ify".XXX())%>) This method is public, which I verified with Reflector. I imported the relevant namespaces in the web.config file, and I can see that these namespaces are being imported in the call that ASP.NET makes to the compiler.
I am trying to hide or show a certain section of my table depending on the value of a property in my binding object(s).
public class Class1
{
public bool Display { get; set; }
}
In ASP.NET MVC, I can just do the following (assuming that Class1 is the model that binds to the page.)
<table>
<tr>Row 1</tr>
<tr>Row 2</tr>
<% if(Model.Display) { %>
<tr>Row 3</tr>
<tr>Row 4</tr>
<% } %>
</table>
How can I achieve the same behavior in transitional ASP.NET? That "Model" variable is not available. How do I retrieve the data binding object?
I'm using one Sublayout (Sitecore) and have a placeHolder that currently holds 2 webcontrols. I want to access the Label from one Webcontrol to the other Webcontrol.Do i have to find the Label recursively or can i just access the Label on another way? I tried different methods like:
this.Page.Findcontrol
this.Parent.Findcontrol
Label lblSearchTerm = (Label)this.Parent.FindControl("lblSearchTerm");
Label lblResults = (Label)this.Parent.FindControl("lblResults");
any result as being Label lblSearchTerm = null.
I'm trying to make an executable in VS2008 that will read a webpage source code using a vb.NET function into a string variable. The problem is that the page is not *.html but rather *.aspx.
I need a way to execute the aspx and get the displayed html into a string. The page I want to read is any page of this type: [URl]
I have tried the following code, which works properly for html pages, but generates the wrong source code with "access denied" for the page title when I pass in the above aspx page.
Dim myReq As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create(url)
Dim myWebResponse As WebResponse = myReq.GetResponse()
Dim dataStream As Stream = myWebResponse.GetResponseStream()
Dim reader As New StreamReader(dataStream, System.Text.Encoding.UTF8)
Dim responseFromServer As String = reader.ReadToEnd()
I'm developing a web site, and i'm using infragistics for web, but I want to use in some pages silverlight controls (Infragistics too). Is there a way to access a silverlight control's properties and methods from an aspx page?
View 3 RepliesUsing vb.net/asp.net 2005:
I am trying to access my accordian in my javascript so I can expand the first (and only) pane but whenever I do that I get a page error before the page loads "Object reference not set to an instance of an object'
The name of my accordian is "myAccordian". and the accordion is inside a gridview.
Just for testing I did the $find on my gridview (not the accordion) and that worked fine,
