Web Forms :: Adding AnimationExtender Inside A Server Control?
May 6, 2010
so I avoid creating Server Controls like the plague, but I need one.
I have a Render method that creates a lot of divs. I use an animation extender to show and hide the divs within the server control.
But when adding the animation extender it tells me the control used for TargetControlID doesn't exist. How can I get the code for the animations to insert after the control has been rendered?
I have an animationExtender, I have an update panel iniside of it with the updatemode Conditional and I have the button that triggers it, but whenever I click that button, the whole page reloads and the animationExtender closes. Why would it do that?
I have an asp.net usercontrol which represents a "popup" dialog. Basically, it's a wrapper for the jQuery UI dialog which can be subclassed to easily make dialogs.
As part of this control, I need to inject a div into the page the control is used on, either at the very top or very bottom of the form so that when the popup is instantiated, it's parent is changed to this div. This allows "nested" popups without the child popup being trapped inside the parent popup. The trouble is, I can't find a safe way to inject this div into the page. A usercontrol doesn't have a preinit event, so I can't do it there, and calling Page.Form.Controls.Add(...) in Init, Load or PreRender causes the standard exception "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases."
... which seemed to work well normally, but recently a coworker tried putting an UpdatePanel inside the dialog and now she's getting the error "The script tag registered for type 'ASP.controls_order_viewzips_ascx' and key 'ctl00$ContentBody$OViewZips_Dialog_Div' has invalid characters outside of the script tags: . Only properly formatted script tags can be registered."
How are you supposed to add controls to the pages control collection from inside a user control?
I want to use the asp.net menu control but would like to somehow fade any of the dynamic submenus in and out using the ajax control toolkit's AnimationExtender. For instance...
I have used calender web user control inside my project where i took textbox, button and calender...but after dragging onto my aspx page..i am unable to access this textbox, calender and button on aspx page..
how to implement requiredfieldvalidtor. Server control which i have created does not work on client side. No javascript is been rendered and onSubmit the page.isvalid returns true.
I created an asp.net Server control that derives from a LinkButton, and renders a small javascript function to the page. I want to use this control many times on the page, but just want the javascript to be rendered once on the page. On the other hand, I rather not manually add it in a js file, because i don't want to have a chance of forgetting to add the js file in the future.
The built in Asp.Net Controls (label, Textbox, etc.) all have a CssClass property that can be set, what do I need to do to implement that for a Web User Control?
I know how to add a property and pass thru the get & set to the corresponding Asp.Net control (example if I have a label I know how to create a LabelCssClass property that provides a get & set, but the control itself how do I set a CssClass or ClassName property.
here's a situation and I would appreciate your response.
I have programmatically created the Wizard control:
Page_Load(obj s, evargs e) { Wizard ClaimDetailWizard = new Wizard(); foreach(int item in selectedItems) { //create new step //added custom control to new step //add step to wizard } //added wizard to a placeholder on a page }
Based on List I get from Session i added new steps to my wizard To each step I had added a custom control
Each custom control in tern contains another custom Gridview Control in it.
So here's the problem when the page loads for example for two steps. All is good Wizard does what it's supposed to do.
But when I try to use sorting or paging in that custom Gridview. Somehow it displays the gridview I should see in the next step of the wizard.
Also what I'm noticing through debugging. Is that when I press next in the wizard I go back to the original page where I do all of the code specified above, and it recreates the wizzard. But it goes to the next step. Is this the way wizard supposed to work? Just doesn't seem very efficient.
I have a server control on my aspx page. in the code behind, i add a series of checkboxs to the control. the problem comes that I cannot get the elementID in java script. below is my code:
Code: Dim myDiv As HtmlGenericControl Dim sb As New StringBuilder myDiv = New HtmlGenericControl("DIV") myDiv = FindControl("theContainer") sb.Append("<div style=""position:relative; top:50%; left:50%;visibility:hidden;"" id=""notFound"" >No Results Found</div>" & vbCrLf)
I'm new to custom server controls and I'm hoping to use them to build various 'modules' for different sites I build to cut down on duplicate code.I'm familiar with custom user controls in which I can create an .ascx & .ascx.vb file which can then be imported into an .aspx page and used freely. However, with custom server controls I cannot find a way of using markup/html code. Is this possible at all or must all code be created programmatically?
Is this possible? if so, what adjustements do i need to make in order to do this properly. I know i can run webforms and mvc views in seperate files, but i want to run the web server control output and events in/on the mvc view page, however, i keep getting this compiler error:
I have a ObjectDataSource and a ListView referencing it.
I have created a Templated User Control (see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/36574bf6.aspx) and placed it in the ListView's InsertItemTemplate It has one template <ContentTemplate>. Inside that template, I've defined a couple of server controls with their properties = '<%# Bind("colName") #>'.
I have a web user control that represents a simple message box. It is used to display simple messages like "Item has been deleted", or "The item was saved successfully".
On the other hand, I have another web user control that represents the item in the form of an editable form (I made this a user control because this is used in two different pages). I want to embed an instance of the message box user control inside the editable form. I am writing this right after the @Control directive:
[Code]....
Instead of using @Register directives, I register the user controls in web.config and so far this has worked just fine.
With the above markup, the project compiles, but whenever I try to navigate to a page that contains this construct, I get an HttpParseException exception. Furthermore, Visual Studio states that the tack w7rc9:MessageBox doesn't represent a known control.
I have developed a User Control in inline code model and convert this into dll and try to add it into Visual Studio ToolBox. It shows error "There is no component found in the object.". It is showing actually because i have not added ToolBoxData attribute just before the class declaration, because there is no class declaration in the inline code model. I don't know where i have to add ToolBoxData attribute.
I have a button that opens up the <div "moveMe"> with a AnimationExtender. The code works fine.
Now, inside the <div> there is a Panel1 that is Visible="false". This needs to be invisible while the <div> is opening up because the Panel1 holds alot of controls and stuff which makes the animation extremely slow.
The task I am wondering is, how it is possible to make this Panel1 Visible="true" when the animation is finished?
