Web Forms :: "Bind" Web User Control Property To Grid View SelectedValue?

This is driving me nutty... I have a gridview on a page. On the same page is a web user control with several public properties. Using the gridview's selectedindexchanging event, I try to set the user control property, but it's always null. Like this:
protected void grdPhysicians_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)

usercontrol1.ID = grdPhysicians.SelectedValue.ToString(); [code]....
If I write the grdPhysicians.SelectedValue to the page, I can see it's there. It just won't pass to the web user control.What I'm trying to do is have a master record form with child records in a web user control and just pass the selected record id into it.

I have a asp.net FormView with a DropDownList for the selection of a month. The FormView is data bound to an ObjectDataSource.

In my project, I need to create a user control to handle the sorting and pagination of all the grids in the application. The grid however will be different in different pages with different formatting.
I am able to do this by exposing a property from user control which takes gridview as the input.
then in page load, i bind this grid, and assign the sorting and paging event handlers to this gridview variable.
This way I am able to do the sorting and paging, but the problem is I have to bind the grid in all the post backs, and then in the sorting and paging events.
So when a user sorts, I have to bind the grid twice, once in page_load and then in sort event of user control.
I can store the first set of records in viewstate and bind that in page load, but is there any other way, so that i dont need to bind the grid in all post backs but only inside of not postback.

I am dynamically loading user controls into my main page on button event.The user control has a textbox and a gridview When i enter data in textbox , the autopostback event fires and loads data into the gridview. when i load another instance of user control and do any post back the gridview data is not persisting.Until and unless I bind the data, gridview is not having any data after postback.This is creating issue when I al updating a row in gridview as data is not persisting after postback.

I am developing an application using ASP.NET with C#.NET.in my application i have a gridview control and radobutton list having the values as Manufacturer and Distributor. based on the radiobutton selected value,the gridview will bindedup.
i am using SQL SERVER 2005 as backend server. in my database i have one table with columns as
1.mfropendate
2.mfrclosedate
3.mfrawarddate
4.distopendate
5.distclosedate
6.distawarddate
My gridview has 3 columns as Opendate,closedate,awarddate.
if user select the radiobutton as manufacturer,only mfropendate,mfrclosedate,mfrawarddate have to bind. and if user select the distributor the remaining 3 fields will have to bind. for that i had write a storedproc as create procedure sp_GetDraftBids as begin select mfropendate as opendate,mfrclosedate as closedate,mfrawarddate as awarddate, distopendate as opendate,distclosedate closedate,distawarddate awarddate from draftbids end GO
i.e i had taken the alias names for that fields so that i will bind the only 3 columns to grid view as opendate,closedate,awarddate.
My gridview code is

here i had taken the same alias names as i have to bind only 3 columns to gridview.when i run my application i am getting the records in data table with column names as opendate,closedate,awarddate,opendate1,closedate1,awarddate1.i.e it does not allow the same alias name.
for two radio button conditions i.e for manufacturer and distributor the gridview binded with opendate,closedate and awarddate columns as i had binded the gridview boundfields withat names.
but when user select the distributor radiobutton i have to bind the opendate1,closedate1 and awarddate1 to the gridview. for that should i can i change the storedproc are any other solution is there?

Problem is when ever i try to bind the gridview using the Sql data source and calling SP.
Its not displaying anything on the screen, where as i tested the SP, its working fine.
But when i write the Select statement in Sql data source... Its working fine.

I've got a web site that has a master page and that master page (mpMaster that has a user control ucControl1) which has a sub user control (ucControl2), this user control has a property which accepts a value. Now, I have a page that uses the master page
and on this page I have another user control (ucPageControl), I need to find a way of setting the value in ucControl2 from ucPageControl. Is this possible at all?

i have a grid view with some coulmns like Name,Phone no etc with Edit,Delete column in grid view. I click a row in grid view to Edit,it goes another page where i can edit all fields .Once i update i redirect the page to gridview. I want the grid view to remain in that particular page say 4 of the grid view

It happened to add an extra Gridveiw Header in row_databound event , It did worked fine on !Postback but disappered on Page.Postback . Quick google search guided me to move the event to Row_Created event and every thing is okay .
Can any expert post some pointers , differnces between grid row_created vs row_databount with some sample table data created dynamically behaviour of both the events in !Postback and page.Postback .

I am doing a online web application whereby user is able to enter in new template as well as search for template. The Add template is located outside the grid view and if user clicks on the button, it will load the grid view that is populated with data as there is a row of empty fields at the bottom. However when I click on the Add Template button, the grid view does not appear.
This is my business logic that I used it to search for records as well to click on the Add Template button to add in new records:

I'm trying to setup a page that will utilize a dropdown list control inside of a grid view control using VS 2005 2.0 version. Everything that I can find online seems to only show the use of the dropdown list control using a data grid. I don't want to use a data grid because it doesn't have the functionality/ power as the grid view control. how I can incorporate a dropdown list control with the grid view control? I have a FormView with an EditItemTemplate. In the EditItemTemplate I have a RadioButtonList. I want to populate the selected button from the database. My code looks like this (simplified):

The stored procedure usp_GetOrderDetails returns a char(1) column called "side" which can have values of 'B' or 'S'. If it's a B or an S I want to select the correct item in the RadioButtonList, radSide. Is this possible? I've done it for my Text boxes and dropDownLists on the same form OK, I just can't figure out the RadioButtonList.
