Anyone know why after content has been commented out it still displays in the browser. Design view as you would expect does not show the content. Here is the commented out data:

I have a table in an SQL Server Express database. I created a content page and added SQLDataSource and a DetailsView. It looks great in Design View. I can see the border, titles and data fields plus the controls such as add and delete.
When I view in browser I only see the background and nothing else. If I change the background to white it doesn't display anything.
I belive the content page is ok because I can see text from <h3>Testing</h3>
I'm using Visual Studio.NET 2010 and .NET 4.0. I have SQL Server Express 2008.
The one wierd issue I was having was using a varbinary(MAX) field to use for jpg images. The DetailsView didn't seem to want to include it so I had to add it from Available Fields to Selected Fields.
Does anyone have an idea why nothing but the background displays in the browser?
I've tried a couple of free ASP hosts (X10hosting and Heliohost) but I get the same problem when uploading an asp site - the asp file just shows the code in the browser. The site is sound because I've seen it in operation on other hosting.
View 1 Replies.aspx file that I would have never even thought to look. It was occuring because of a control(ListView I believe) that had been "completely" commented out using the <!-- --> tags. The text was all green which gave me the re-assuring feeling that this code would not be included in the website. I finally decided to search my entire .aspx page for any occurences of the variable it kept insisting couldn't be "databound" and sure enough it was inside a template of a ListView control that was commented out.
View 2 RepliesI have VS 2008 installed and have IE8 browser as well as google chrome browser.However wheneever i try to run a .aspx page in solution explorer of VS with the browse with.. options,the page runs fine with chrome browser but not with IE8.The IE browser shows the error "Ineternet explorer cannot display the page".I have set the IE as the default browser in the browse with ... option of the VS 2008.

There are no issues when running my code in Firefox - i've found a bunch of issues, all seem to be solved for people using PHP.

I have a website that deliveres content from secure source (https://) after the user authenticates. I added a new page where I use an Iframe to display a pdf file. It works fine when I try it from the dev server where I do not get directed from https, but when trying from the actual site I get the error message 'Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?' I understand this is because the Iframe source is not secure (the source file is in the root directory of the webpage) Where should I store the content for the Iframe? Can I use a local directory on the server rather than one in the root directory?

Whenever I triggered some postback actions (e.g. delete some row in the gridview or edit the values in the detailedview), the content in the pane became empty. It would show up correctly if I resized the browser. This only happens in IE8, but work correctly in FireFox. Is this a problem of the browser, or can I improve my code to prevent this from happening? The following is my code

View 4 RepliesI know the content palcehlder does not have a size ,I have a masterpage and content page, the master page has a table with a header, content area, and footer, header and footer are fixed size, content area is 100%. As the user sizes the browser the content area grows and shrinks and the footer stays at the
bottom of the browser window - perfect!
Problem: The contentpalceholder does not grow to fill the available content area. Now, the contentplaceholder gets its size from its contents, which in this case is a div holding a silverlight object.I was thinking I could hook the master or child page's re-size event and somehow pass that info onto the SL object, but as it turns out (and I'm surprised I never knew this) there is no aps.net page re-size event! (really?, wow.)
So is there a way to get a SL object hosted on a master page to size itself based on the size of the browser window?Or more generally, a way to size the contents (like a div or panel) of a contentplaceholder based on the browser? on a standard aspx page (not a master page) I CAN get the SL object to size itself based on the broswer, the problem seems to come from the fact that I'm hosting the SL object in a content placeholder.
I guess I could 'unroll' the master page into several standalone pages and have it work, but the menu is on the master page and I'm used to using them, plus it's already done...<sigh>

I have a problem displaying images on my web pages. It doesn't matter if I insert the images using the toolbox, or if I try to display them manually by code. The problem is that VS displays them fine in design mode, but not in debugging (red cross).
The source code of the webpage gives me the following adress to the image:

A web site project, 4 pages. First page just has button links to redirect to another page. When button link is cliced, the data is retrieved from SQL Server through stored procedures and they are in a class file. Able to call the procedures and pass the information through SET Properties and right before the page is displayed, checked and data is in the dropdownlist control then redirect to show page. The dropdowlist is empty, should I be using something different to show the page with the data? Have tryied REDIRECT and then fill dropdownlist and its still empty on displayed.
