Web Forms :: Can Designer Automatically C# Members For Template Contents

I have a control that inherits from CompositeControl, and I have a public property of type ITemplate that is instantiated. I can insert markup using it and it runs fine, but fields are NOT created in the designer for the template content.

But in the .designer.cs I only get a field for the parent control, not the template content:

Is there anything I can do to get the controls for the content to have fields automatically generated? Or do I have to use FindControl?

I have been using .NET 2.0 and VS 2005 for web application project and lately i am noticing that .designer.aspx.cs does not declare all the controls 'automatically' which r there on .aspx...i add them manually and some of them get lost,like the additional 'div' controls which i have on pages inheritated from the master,everytime i reload it.. ..i fully understand that i am not suppose to manually change anything in designer.aspx.cs but what do i do with this issue? Is .net 2.0 ,VS 2005 are too obsolate and i absolutely need to get on .net 4.0,2010..

im wonder if someone can give me direction to articles / solutions to something im tryin to do. I have membership registration for my site. I want to build some email engine that send automaticly mails to registers members by day. for example: the user is register to the site after that he get email, that OK i know how to do that. but i want the site will send another mail after a day, another email after 2 days and another email after 7 days.

I have a code where I fill some random text into a textBox. In this example there is more content than the textBox can show so the vertical scrollbar is shown in the textBox.
I wonder if there is a way to adjust the height of the textBox instead automatically so all contents can be seen instead of seeing the scrollbars ?

So I am a beginner with .NET, Visual Studio, C#, etc. But I am wondering something about the code behind a form and a difference I am seeing in 2008 versus 2005. So lets say I have a simple Windows Form app, C#, and I throw a couple controls on it. Then I add some MessageBox.Show event handlers for the default events....in 2005 there is that little section within the code that is hidden that basically contains the code that 'registers' the controls with the system....I think. That may be a bad definition?? Basically I think that automatic code generated here just basically associates the event to the event handling code....anyway.
I can see this is 2005 (once I click the like gray box), but it does not appear anywhere in 2008. So this has to exist somewhere, and I just wanted to ask to be familiar with what is going on since I am new to this. I still have to figure out how to turn on the code line numbering in 2008, but I can google it.

I have a webforms (framework 3.5) site with a TON of dynamic content. Depending on the url, one or many content items will be sent to the client. I need a way to generate meta keywords for SEO based on the contents of the page (or part of the page, if possible).
I've done a little research and am not really turning up anything that addresses my problem directly. I have, on the other hand, found some interesting stuff that might get me there with considerable work. One idea I have is to intercept the response buffer at Application_BeginRequest (global.asax), parse out some meaningful keywords, and inject them back into the response buffer. However, this seems like a pretty expensive process and I don't even know if it's possible. I also feel like there could be a way to do this with an HttpModule.
I'm interested in what the community has to say about this. Is there already an existing and accepted way to do this that I'm just missing.

Our site has a page for maintenance of existing members (e.g. adding / changing roles, etc.)This page currently uses a gridview to show a complete list of all members, based on GetMembers() method to populate it.However, as the number of users has grown to several hundred, it has become difficult to locate a particular user by paging through several pages.Is there a way to narrow down this list, maybe with a filtering textbox, so that as you start typing into that textbox, only members whose name contains the typed characters will show up in the gridview?

I have created 3 tabs in first and second tab DIV I have Asp.net FormView, on Second tabs I have Asp.net GridView. On GridView we have edit link on each row of grid. Now issue is that when i click on edit link of grid Template of grid will change to edit template but tab automatically goes to first tab. Newb question: what is the standard practice for assigning roles to newly signed-on members. Is it usually manual or is there a way of automatically assigning roles. Being completely new to this, I am confronted by the issue of my site having three different roles that new members could fall into, but am unsure about how to assign each a role. I can't imagine having to go through the process manually if I have thousands of members.

I am new to LINQ. when we drag tables we get a dbml file and designer file.
For example DataClasses1.dbml and DataClasses1.designer.cs.
Once we have them then we can start using our LINQ Queries.
In my company project I do not see this designer files and instead there are .tt files which were used as templates to greate ABC.generated.cs files. Is this same as designer class?

I am running .net 4.0 asp.net app on IIS 7. I want to know if there is an easy way of adding rows to an excel 2007/2010 (not too fussed) template file that a user can download from the server.
For example, the user might check a couple of tick boxes and clicks a button on the web page. The server does a sql query on a table and comes back with the results. I have an excel file with some headings, column titles, formatting etc. on the web app's resources directory. I want to make a copy of this file, insert each of the results as a row into this file (insert first name into cell A3, last name into cell B3 etc.). And make it available for the user to save on their disk.
Since Excel (xls) format is an "Open format", I was wondering how easy/straight forward this would be. Is it a matter of loading the excel XML DOM and inserting XML elements? What are libraries I need to use?

Want to import them in to Visual Studio 2008 set to v3.5 (Asp.Net MVC) - where I use Project technology
I'm using Add > Existing Item - Which brings in Whatever.aspx & Whatever.aspx.cs There is no Whatever.aspx.designer.cs to import
How do you force it to be generated ?

Should bar on the HTML designer show the tag name? It sometimes does!

I thought for sure it must be a bug but considering that I heard that MS was rewriting the editor (designer too?) I am starting to question whether I know how to use it!
Note the "TD" tooltip on the bottom right. Shouldn't this "TD" appear on the bar on the far right where the mouse would be?

I have a formview with various templates set up for a database that has 255 columns. I need the insertitemtemplate to pre-fill values based upon a specific selection by the user (just like the edit item template) but when the template is switched to insertitemtemplate every text box is cleared. The idea is that a new entry is usually made by making minor changes to an existing entry. With 255 fields I don't want to require the user to enter every field when only three or four need to change.

I have a gridview which the columns are created programmatically.
When a button is click i will clear all columns and add the columns that I want. Im adding a boundfield which is not a problem. When I add a template field, I must add also the item template which is my problem.
How can I add a item template in the template field I created which is binded in my datasource. Also what event handler should I use to do this.

Someone know how can I bind a label item template from the datasource. The label item template should be firstname + middlename + lastname.
If im not doing it programatically, it will be just concatenating eval(). But how can create item template and bind it programmatically?

Setting up the editItem template of a gridview. I have a template field with a dropdown list for editing. When the gridview goes into edit mode the dropdown list is displayed with all the right options but the current value of the field (pre-editing) is not the selected value of the dropdown list? How do I make that happen? I have a couple fields where the editItem template will use a dropdown list and I'm sure a user will not realize those values have changed and they will just edit what they intended to edit and save the changes, inadvertently also making changes to other fields.

The website will have public and private (members) access.I'm using VB and MS access database. Registering, login, MasterPage (Master1), default.aspx and users (members.aspx) pages are already set up. What I wanted or what I'm thinking to do is to also base the members.aspx on the MasterPage.
When a user logged in, I wanted to add additional menu (reserved only to members) to the MasterPage and
remove/hide unnecessary menu. Here is a scheme of what I want:
MasterPage + default.aspx: (visible to the public)
Menu1
Menu11, Menu12, Menu13
Menu2
Menu21, Menu22, Menu23
MasterPage + members.aspx: (When user login)
Menu1
Menu11, Menu12, Menu13
Menu3
Menu31, Menu32, Menu33
If the user logout, it will return to MasterPage + default.aspx. Nowing that if the user authentication successful, he will redirected to members.aspx,
1. how can I, when loading members.aspx, manage the MasterPage so that I can show and hide some of its menu? how to use members controls on the MasterPage?
2. in case I'm wrong with what I'm trying to to do, what is your advice?
3. FYI, I'm using VB. Any code in C# will also be OK. I will just have to convert it.
4. I might probably use placeHolder to show and hide these menu in the Page_load event of members.aspx (refer to what I don't want in 3).
