Mar 16, 2011I am using the cascading dropdownlist controls from the Ajax toolkit. I have everything working perfectly and all of my select changes work. I have 3 related select boxes that all work great for single item select. What I need is for my last dropdownlist to allow for the selection of multiple items. I have tried adding the 'multiple' attribute to the final dropdown list and it allows the selection of multiple items but I cannot get the items when I post back, just a single item.

I have a nested gridview and inisde a child grid there are several columns having dropdown and one add button. when add button is click a new row inside a child grid is created with an empty dataand previous row data have been saved in viewstate so that it can be bind wen add button is click to create new rows.My code is working fine when i dont select any dropdown list item and new row is also created but wen i select items from dropdown and click on add more button i get above error.
When add button is click

Jun 18, 2010I had used listbox control with multiple selection mode. I stored id with comma delimiter in database.
e.g.
1. List Item One.
2. List Item Two.
3. List Item Three.
4. List Item Four.
5. List Item Five.
6. List Item Six.
Suppose user select item 2, 4 & 6. So I will store it as a 2,4,6 in database. This will work fine.
Now in editing I have to shows selection-bar for item 2, item 4 & item 6. So I had typed below source.

Is anybody guide me how to make item 2, item 4, item 5 as a selected item ?

Apr 30, 2010I am running into some additional difficulties with dropdown lists, and I'm hoping you can correct my thinking.
I have a table populated with items; ITEM_ID, ITEM_NAME, ITEM_COST.
Here is my code:

With this code I get this error: DataBinding: 'ITEM' does not contain a property with the name '2'.
If I remove the assignment of DataSource to c1, the dropdown generates this error: 'DropDownList3' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items.
Parameter name: value
How should I code this so that the user is presented with a list of ITEM_NAMES, and that the ITEM_ID is stored in the value field so I can use it when the selection event is fired? I know I could databind the source directly to the dropdown list, but I am trying to understand the behind the scenes working of a dropdown list object.

Sep 22, 2010Values in multiselect dropdown not getting selected when Select All option is selected for a SSRS dropdown. There are multiple dropdowns on the page. We have one dropdown whose output is being used to populate the second dropdown using a stored procedure. When we check the Select All checkbox on the dropdown then ideally upon page refresh all the values should get selected in the dropdown, but in this case the page refreshes back to the blank dropdown, forcing the user to select the values again. The next dropdown too does not get populated. This makes it impossible to run the report for all the cases by using Select All. We ran the report on differnet database environments. My current location is Mumbai,India, the report worked fine when we ran it on a Bangalore,india database. This issue occurs when we try running it on a Chicago database server. I am using SSRS 2005, SQL2005.

Sep 29, 2010I have a situation where some dropdown listboxes contain some items, then there's a separator line, and then there are more items. The ones above the separator line reflect the "commonly used items". To better highlight these I was using code like this to individually color those specfic items:

This code works fine EXCEPT that once a PostBack occurs then the highlighting disappears. The items in the dropdown listbox remain (without repopulation) but not the highlighting.
I'm curious why this is happening and whether there's a way for the highlighting to "stick" short of calling this code from the Page_Load event handler every Postback?

Like if i choose High in database it saves as 1 but it should save as text not index.
