How To Make String With Arabic Chars Display Correctly On Web Page

Jul 14, 2010

on my page i have a time range printed in the format of 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM i have to display this appropriately for whatever culture the browser supplies. i'm having an issue with arabic (ar-ae): the am/pm indicator seems to change the text ordering for part of the string. the string has the right characters in the right places in memory, but shows them in a different order.

so for my start and end times, i have strings like 03:00 ص and 11:00 مand then i put them together like
string dummytext = t1string + " - " + t2string; when the page is written, the range is displayed as 03:00 ص - 11:00 م i've tried putting each piece in a Label control and wrapping everything in a div with dir="ltr" and haven't made any progress. this is happening in a table cell if it makes any difference.

Special Chars In Javascript (jQuery)?

Dec 8, 2010

I'm developing a web app in asp.net mvc using jquery, the language of application is pt-BR and some characteres are not displayed correctly, like accented charcacters and 'ç' char. Insted of this, a unknown char is displayed on browser.

Is there any way to set the location on jquery ? Or on the file .js, .aspx?

I am not doing an ajax call, I'm writing a text in elements of html like div, hyperlink, etc... something like this:

$("#myDiv").text("Água, Açúcar, e leite em pó");

But in my div is shown: "?gua, A??car, e leite em p?"

I've set my globalization in web.config to pt-br, my html tag and meta tags to pt-br:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="pt">
<head>
<title>...</title>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1">
<meta http-equiv="content-language" content="pt-br">

Regex: Match Opening / Closing Chars With Spaces?

Mar 18, 2010

I'm trying to complete a regular expression that will pull out matches based on their opening and closing characters, the closest I've gotten is

^([[)[a-zA-Z.-_]+(]])

Which will match a string such as "[[word1]]" and bring me back all the matches if there is more than one, The problem is I want it to pick up matchs where there may be a space in so for example "[[word1 word2]]", now this will work if I add a space into my pattern above however this pops up a problem that it will only get one match for my entire string so for example if I have a string

"Hi [[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]], How are you"

then the match will be "[[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]]" rather than 3 matches "[[Title]]", "[[Name]]", "[[surname]]". I'm sure I'm just a char or two away in the Regex but I'm stuck, How can I make it return the 3 matches.

I'm trying to create VCard on the fly for a site. I simply open a "real" VCard once create with Outlook with Notepad++ and saw what I need into it to create one on the fly. Everything works fine and I'm able to add anything I need, where I need. Instead one point :

All french caracters such as É, À, Ê, Ç, etc showing like : Simon DugrÃ.

I've add everything suggested by the Outlook created one who's proposing to add : "CHARSET=Windows-1252:" in front of my string entry (also tryied ISO-8859-1, UTF8, UTF7, UTF-8, UTF-7) and none of those are working.

EDIT (After Alexandre C.'s answer)
Here is the VCard source. Please note that the source shows it correctly, but when I open it with Outlook, I still have the accent problem :

Converting Number To Its String (alphabetical) Representation In C#.NET?

Feb 10, 2011

as part of a project I am working on, I need to output the alphabetical 'name' of the number. This is better illustrated with an example.960Nine Hundred and SixtySo it'd convert '960' to 'Nine Hundred and Sixty'. Is there an easy way to do this in C#.NET? Also, if so, how easy would it be to apply the same function to a decimal number? I'm assuming if I can figure out how to convert a integer as above, I can just split the decimal number... so I'd have something like this 960.23 Nine Hundred and Sixty (units) andTwenty Three (units)

Converting Decimal In A Label To An Integer?

Mar 28, 2011

Currently using VS2008, VB.NET, SQL. I have a FormView from a Data Source that is getting some fields that are stored as Decimals in the SQL Database.

I am grabbing the field from the FormView as such:

Dim AvgTicketL As Label = CType(frmMerchantProfile.FindControl("F10Label"), Label)

I need to take this value, and convert it to an Integer, then send it along to an API. I have the API Calls done, tested and working, but I'm getting an error as when it is getting this value, the API is returning "Must be an Integer" error.

What I have tried so far:

Dim AvgTicketL As Label = CType(frmMerchantProfile.FindControl("F10Label"), Label)
Dim AvgTicket1 As Integer
AvgTicket1 = Double.Parse(AvgTicket.Text)
Do something with AvgTicket1

I have also attempted to Round the Value, then convert it and call it - no luck.

Checking the value of AvgTicket1 (Writing it out to a Label or Response.Write) shows "100", where the database value was 100.00. But the API is still getting 100.00, apparently. Any other conversion method that I've attempted states errors that the Label cannot be converted to Integer.

What are some methods I can successfully convert this value to an integer from a label?
