Regex: Match Opening / Closing Chars With Spaces?

Mar 18, 2010

I'm trying to complete a regular expression that will pull out matches based on their opening and closing characters, the closest I've gotten is

^([[)[a-zA-Z.-_]+(]])

Which will match a string such as "[[word1]]" and bring me back all the matches if there is more than one, The problem is I want it to pick up matchs where there may be a space in so for example "[[word1 word2]]", now this will work if I add a space into my pattern above however this pops up a problem that it will only get one match for my entire string so for example if I have a string

"Hi [[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]], How are you"

then the match will be "[[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]]" rather than 3 matches "[[Title]]", "[[Name]]", "[[surname]]". I'm sure I'm just a char or two away in the Regex but I'm stuck, How can I make it return the 3 matches.

AJAX :: RegularExpressionValidator Always Fires - Invalid Email Id

Aug 30, 2010

I am trying to use a RegularExpressionValidator for email ID text box. Everything works fine till I add an AJAX TextBoxWatermarkExtender for the same text box. I have given the WatermarkText="Email" for the text box. When I push the submit button, the RegularExpressionValidator fires and says Invalid Email ID. When I clear the same text box, no issues and the records are saved.I strongly suspect that the RegularExpressionValidator is taking the text of the watermark, ie "Email" as an invalid email ID. To test this I gave the text as "someone@website.com" for the TextBoxWatermarkExtender and it did not fire the RegularExpressionValidator.

How To Make String With Arabic Chars Display Correctly On Web Page

Jul 14, 2010

on my page i have a time range printed in the format of 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM i have to display this appropriately for whatever culture the browser supplies. i'm having an issue with arabic (ar-ae): the am/pm indicator seems to change the text ordering for part of the string. the string has the right characters in the right places in memory, but shows them in a different order.

so for my start and end times, i have strings like 03:00 ص and 11:00 مand then i put them together like
string dummytext = t1string + " - " + t2string; when the page is written, the range is displayed as 03:00 ص - 11:00 م i've tried putting each piece in a Label control and wrapping everything in a div with dir="ltr" and haven't made any progress. this is happening in a table cell if it makes any difference.

Use A Regex To Tell If A String Has 10 Digits?

Jan 6, 2010

I need to find a regex that tests that an input string contains exactly 10 numeric characters, while still allowing other characters in the string.

I'll be stripping all of the non-numeric characters in post processing, but I need the regex for client-side validation.

For example, these should all match:

1234567890
12-456879x54
321225 -1234AAAA
xx1234567890

But these should not:

123456789 (not enough digits)
12345678901 (too many digits)

I am getting taggings like the following in a string

<color> vocation </color>
<color> elation </color>
<color> sage </color>

you can notice that each tagging differs only in the wordings

vocation
elation
sage

But i want to write a code some thing like this

Regex.Replace(userAx, "<color> vocation </color>",
"<color> </color>"

so that the resulting output does not contain words at the centre. In the above code instead of giving the word vocation exclusively, i have to mention some pattern, so that it will replace all the words instead of doing it for first sentence only. How to modify my code?

Regex.Split Extract Only First Number Form A String

Oct 6, 2010

I am using the following code for extracting a number from string 'sentence'.

Regex.Split(sentence, @"D+");

For Ex: This is test , message contains 192837 and the message ends here.

This output would be 192837.

Now, Let say: sentence is: This is test, 2736 message contains 293743 and message ends here.

This output would be 2736293743.

But, I want only 2736. i.e The first number in a string omit rest all others.

How to deal with this?

How To Use Regex To Find A Matching String Pattern And Delete It

Feb 4, 2011

I have a table Books with columns BookID, BookSummary, BookAuthor.

What I have stupidly done was to add a link to another url at the end of the BookSummary. Assuming the text is something like this:

This is a book about a love story in World War 2 in Europe. The book is written by Elliot James.

I have added

<a href='http=://XXXXXX'>Buy Book</a> at the end of the text making the final content of BookSummary to be like:

This is a book about a love story in World War 2 in Europe. The book is written by Elliot James.

<a href='http=://XXXXXX'>Buy Book</a>

I now need to write a code (via regex?) to read through each BookSummary, find the <a href='http://XXXXX'>Buy Book</a> and delete it. But the problem is the content in XXX could be anything and I cannot use typical string functions. Can anyone guide me to
achieve this using Regex?

Using RegEx With LINQ - Insert A Value Into The Regex?

The goal is to insert a value into the regex and then use that to search a column in a table in my database for that term. I was trying to follow this tutorial on msdn, but it doesn't quite fit perfectly with my problem:
