View 1 RepliesDoes anyone have a recommendation of a link(s) that provides a variety of color schemes either to be set manually or through a file for VS.NET 2008? For example instead of the default, white background with blue and black letters (VB.NET), etc. I want to see some contrasting black background color schemes or other combinations?
View 3 RepliesI have a textBox control where I want the string: "User" to be written with a Gray color with a Italic style as default.
Now when a mouseclick occur in this box, I want this string to dissapear and I want the Forecolor to turn to Black and Normal style (not italic).
I trying to see if there is any events in the TextBox for mouseclicks and so on but are not sure if I can find anything like that in the events. I can only find the TextChanged_event.

I am working on an ASP.NET 2.0 website project. It has the frontend part for end-users and an admin part for administrators. I have created two themes for each of them. What I want to do is apply one theme to frontend pages and another theme to admin pages without having to specify the theme on each page.

I have atleast 10 websites that have different css,html,javasacripts and webconfig. But the same code behind files.With this design everything is hard to maintain. So I decided to work on it and I started moving all the queries in the code beghind file to stored procedures. Since every website uses the same database.
What I have decided is to make use of themes and multiple master pages? IS this the best way to go about it?
Also lets say I have two templates. There is site A and site B. both using different templates. And have pages Home About Us and Contact.
Now would I be creating three different masterpages? for each template so 6 in total? ( since none of the templates are supposed to look the same)
or Should I just create two masterpages? if so how would I manage the html of the page so it looks different?
I am working on asp.net website and i want to implement themes on my site. If i select any theme then it will change whole UI not only colors. After Change it will show a new User interface. Like change in div size, width and location same for controls and same all html tag that is used in page.
I got lot of example of themes where it it changing only UI color.
i have a gridview that directly bind to a dataset.Hence there is no column in code behind for me to control the boarder color and border style.I try my code in RowDataBound, but it does not take effect.
View 3 RepliesAm trying to implement the beerhouse CMS (ASP.NET 2.0 Website Programming: Problem - Design - Solution), I face a problem in the second chapter, while implementing the themes.
The problem here is even when I select white as the theme it remains as default, though the postback happens, it remains a white. I have also applied the breakpoint, here this.Page.Theme is always white.
The themes are called from the helper class
//This is the helper class
public static string[] GetThemes()
{
if (HttpContext.Current.Cache["SiteThemes"] != null)
{
return (string[])HttpContext.Current.Cache["SiteThemes"];
}
else
{
string themesDirPath = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/App_Themes");
// get the array of themes folders under /app_themes
string[] themes = Directory.GetDirectories(themesDirPath);
for (int i = 0; i <= themes.Length - 1; i++)
themes[i] = Path.GetFileName(themes[i]);
// cache the array with a dependency to the folder
CacheDependency dep = new CacheDependency(themesDirPath);
HttpContext.Current.Cache.Insert("SiteThemes", themes, dep);
return themes;
}
}
And the dropdownlist is binded to the helper class through a user control
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (Globals.ThemesSelectorID.Length == 0)
Globals.ThemesSelectorID = ddlThemes.UniqueID;
ddlThemes.DataSource = Helpers.GetThemes();
ddlThemes.DataBind();
ddlThemes.SelectedValue = this.Page.Theme;
}
I have designed to themes, one is default and the other one is white, and declared it in the pages section in
web.config.
<pages theme="Default" masterPageFile="~/MyCMSMaster.master">
I am doing a community website. Assume that I am giving an option to all my users to choose a theme. That we happen see on websites like Orkut , Gmail etc..Actually we can keep only one theme inside the web config right ?. During dynamic change all the other user's themes will also change. How to avoid this?

I'm trying to create an interface similar to google's search box.
When you type a search string into the box, the drop panel appears suggesting all matches to the search as it's being typed.
Anyone know how do we do this with ASP.net?
I have a Create User Wizard and I want to make the UserName textbox border red when a user doesn't enter text in the textbox. So I made a custom validator that looks like this:

I want to implement and allow users to create their own photo albums on my website.Now i was proposing that i have 2 tables:-Quote:
tbl_albums{album_id, user_id, album_name, info, date_added}
tbl_album_images{image_id, album_id, user_id, caption, date_added}
So one table would contain information about the album and the other would be the images inside the album.firstly does this seem like a good approach?If so, i want to know what would be the best way to allow users to do this?
I am creating a web site through command line. I am able to create a web site with single host address. But i want multiple host address for a website. this is the command I am using iisweb /create D:Test Test.com /d [URL]
View 6 RepliesI want to be able to create a style sheet at session startup (based on a large number of variables... this sheet must be created on the fly and can not be hard coded). At the moment i can set up styles and apply them to controls using the VS designer (html behind of a page). But i need to be able to create these styles at runtime because they will differ for each session. The names of the styles may not differ, but the elements inside the style will be changing.
I figured that one thing i could do is create a css file using System.IO to create the file and then use that to apply (but even then, im not sure how i go from creating the file to including it in the project at runtime), but is there an easier way?
I am developing a web application by using asp.net 3.5 and sql server 2008R2. I have to create a page as like as facebook News Feed (wall post). I need post Status and reply comments. I know it will be done by jQuery but I am not expart of Query. Anyone help me with sample code or demo project?
View 1 RepliesI need to plan out a Class, Method, Attribute style diagram, I have looked at the Class Designer in Visual Studio, but it seems to not do what I want. I want to be able to have a diagram show the classes just like in Visual Studio - except I want to be able to represent the parameters these methods require, for example:
getStock(StockID)
And this be shown in the Diagram. This is for an ASP.NET website - what are the best ways of creating a diagram for a website like this to represent the methods - I don't want to start generating classes - which is why I want to use Visio, plus I am more familiar with Visio than the Visual Studio Class designer as I mostly use the Express line of products which don't feature this. I want this for example for Default.aspx:
Default.aspx
(View)
Methods:
- FeaturedStock()
- GetStock(StockID)
- ShowContent()
- ShowImage(StockID)
I don't want to use UML as this is too confusing - the Visual Studio Class diagram is close to what I want but I cannot get it to show the Parameters on my Methods. My main aim is to have "stubs" for each method a page requires to implement that functionality as a Developer this is the easiest way I can plan out this project.
I m using this code
Menu menu = new Menu();
menu.MenuItemClick += new MenuEventHandler(menu_MenuItemClick);
menu.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.AliceBlue;
But i want that background color of menu should be seprate two Different color red and AliceBlue
