Is it possible to make asp:calendar control databindable to SQL database? Like GridView or ListView. I don't see how to do it and find it unbelievable. Or is there third party calendar control that is easy to use?

I'm not sure if the whole _CurrentDataItem business is required, I don't think so.The problem I've got, is that I've tried nesting it inside a FormView control so I can use it to display a record from a database. My ASPX looks like this:

Now, the bound properties (TitleText and TitleSubText) bind correctly, but the nested / template content is blank when the page loads. I'm not sure if this is something to do with the order in which everything is loaded or because I'm missing some code in the SimpleTemplate to get it to bind (etc.).

i have an Gridview with BoundFiled, for the bound field headertext alo coming from the table, but i dont know how to bind the headertext and data. i have used below code

but getting error as "The BoundField control with a two-way databinding to field column1_text must have an ID."
I have a asp:repeater control which I am using to display a photo and the Name. So for this I have to execute SQL query and unfortunately I dont have the control of the database - table design. So the photo comes from one table and the Name comes from another table. I wrote 2 sql queries to get both these information created 2 sqldatareader. So now I have to bind the repeater control to both of these reader. But I know it does not work. Is there any other way I can do this? I even tried to nest a repeater control inside another. But that does not work anyway.
View 2 RepliesI have a strange problem. I have made a PagedRepeater control, which inherits from the Repeater, from a tutorial I saw here: http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/020905-1.aspx. It's in VB and I'm in C#, and it didn't quite have all the features I was lookingfor, so, I've modified it quite a bit. I added support for a SqlDataSource control, as well. The only problem is, that it always returns the first item from the SqlDataSource, even when the CurrentPageIndex on the PagedDataSource is set to a different value.

Unfortunatelly I can't find any documentation on how to do this on the web and even Dino Esposito in his ASP.NET 2.0 Advanced Topics only handles one-way databinding (also the contact form on his blog isn't working). View 2 RepliesI've got a FormView control for which I'm Viewing, Inserting and Updating to a MS SQL Database.
Instead of adding a SqlDataSource control to the page, I've created it in the code behind and declaring the properties/attributes for it during Page_Load.
At the moment, everything is bound and working fine, but I'm having an issue Databinding to the child controls in my FormView with parameters set in the code behind.

So, I need to be able to bind the DS.InsertParameters.Add("PageTitle", ---) with the txPageTitle control in the Insert Template, same with the PageURL to txPageURL. Is there any easy way to do this from the code behind? I can't seem to find a way to add a parameter without needing to assign it a value.

If I check one of the two data bound radio buttons, the DDL should repopulate with a different set of results. This works just fine EXCEPT .... the DDL cannot be databound. I have a composite control inside a repeater. I am trying to set the controls public properties inline like so (this is a simplified example):

When I place the repeater inside a user control INSIDE ANOTHER user control and onto the page this works - the property is correctly set, if I inspect it inside the EnsureChildControls() method of the custom control the composite control's Value propertyis set to Eval("value") as intended.
I have a Calendar Control that I added text that show scheduled meetings on certain dates and it works okay.
The problem is that when I click on a date I need to http to another web page or sometimes goto a web page in the same web site. The problem is when the code that creates the hyperlink runs it replaces the text displaying "meetings" scheduled for that date instead appending the link to the date and retaining the "meetings" text that was already there.
Below is how I set that up with the code that adds the meetings followed by the url code that replaces the meetings text:

or any other kind of link in my Calendar Control without clobbering whatever was in there? If it is not possible is there another way to link to another page after a date in the Calendar Control is clicked?

I have a calendar control where a user selects a date and then inputs info into a FormView control. Underneath the FormView is a GridView that shows all data from the SelectedDate on the calendar control. However, when the date is selected, all the information from the table ( from all dates ) is displayed.

I'm trying to do something that should be very simple, but getting completely stumped on why it's not working.
I have a page that has a few calendar controls, and when the user clicks a date, I want it to toggle the value (in this case it's the "availability" of the date).
I don't want it to post back with every calendar click, so what I'm doing is:
1. During the dayrender event, a Hidden Field gets added to the day. (As it is created, the Hidden Field is added to an array so that it can be retrieved later.)
2. When the user clicks, the value of the Hidden Field is toggled using JavaScript.
3. Once the user is done marking unavailable days, they click a Save button, which gets the values, and saves them to the database.
The Hidden Fields are getting added, and toggling is working just fine. The problem is that when the user clicks the Save button, all the Hidden Fields and their values get cleared, so at the time of the save, it thinks the length of the Hidden Field array is 0.
I think it has something to do with the order in whcih the page is rendered, and the "Save" code executed, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I'm doing something almost identical on another page that works fine - the only difference is that on that page there are no calendar controls, so instead of being added at dayrender, the dynamic controls are added on page load.
If I wanted to add a Hidden Field for each day in a calendar, whose value I can change with Javascript, how do I go about it in a way that I can access the values when clicking a Save button?
Currently, I am using Calendar control on ASPX page. Instead, I want to use AJAX Calendar Extender control because of the animation effect and the way it moves between years making if much more impressive than Calendar control.Is it possible to display Calendar extender on page permanently, just like Calendar control?
View 2 RepliesI've got two websites. One is a copy of the other, I even went ahead and remade a copy of the original a second time hoping it would alleviate the issue I'm having but it didn't.
On both pages I have a calendar so the route is

The issue is on the original site /Calendar works. It shows the Calendar page with the current month. On the copy site /Calendar gives a 404 but /Calendar/Index shows the Calendar page with the current month.

View 2 RepliesWhen designing an ASP.NET user control my standard way for creating say a details view would be to create a property of the desired type on my page and would set the property in the page load based on the supplied query parameter. I feel I'm probably doing more work then necessary. If I could encase my view inside a container then I could merely have it databound and thus make everything declarative.My question is what would be the lightweight container/controls that would be appropriate for databinding a single object?As a second question, how can I handle invalid query strings with this method?

However, once the update is finished (and I call e.Cancel = true), the LoginView control does not databind its children... so they are all blank. The FormView's viewstate is still fine, as all the rest of the controls outside of the LoginView appear fine. I even handle the FormView_DataBound event and a Trace shows that the FormView is being databound on postback.
Why then is the LoginView not keeping its ViewState/being databound? Here's a sample code snippet showing the flow:

How to create a user control for this kind of layout. I have a css. But dont know how to create a control for this kind of display. Title is the department name and below mentioned radio buttons are status for each department. Now department can be multiple as present in database. This one box can contain only two department list and new box needs to be created as soon as 2 departments are filled into this. How can I create user control for this type to bind it from datatable. On my calendar page I have a Calendar control, a text box for date and a select box for events. In the code behind I modified the DayRender event handler to add color to the calendar depending upon the event for that date: Holidays are green, School opens is pink, Teacher Inservice days are Aqua, etc. This all works fine. However, when I tried adding a letter to the date to correspond to the event; "O" for school open, "I" for Inservice, etc. I get multiple entries "OO", "II", etc.

that code will display my 2 records 09/26/2010, 09/27/2010 in the calendar dates,but if the user didn't insert anything on the 09/28/2010 and today its 09/29/2010 i need that the calendar wont le me select any dates until the user insert 09/28/2010 data. i hope i was able to explain.
I am using the calendar control in my VB.Net 3.5 web app. I need to send the user to a page (TasksForDay.aspx) when they click on the day that sits in the top left corner of the month cal (1, 2, 3, ...). The receiving page TasksForDay.aspx) should get the selected date passed to it.
