I have a Gridview that provides the user the student name for a particular class, a dropdown list to enter grades. If a grade of 'U' is given, a textbox appears in which the last day of attendance must be listed.
It works... though not as conviently as it could; the faculty would like to be able to tab from one dropdownlist to next in succession.
On each ddlGrades changes I write the value to the database and if a 'U' was chosen, display the textBox... but I can't figure how to set focus on the next ddlGrades control, or even the same ddlGrades control that initiated the postbock.
Below is my simplified .aspx followed by the codebehind
This problem is stopping me from winding up my project.I have a webform where there is a pop-up page that populates one text box and 2 dropdowns. And I also have a checkbox list that does a postback.Whenever the checkboxlist does a postback, one of the dropdownlist's value is reset. It happens with only one dropdown list. The text box and the other dropdownlist retain their value.I have put enableviewstate = true at both the page level and control level.
When I select the item in 1st dropdownlist, values are fetched from database and want to display in second dropdownlist... but the autopostback is not working for the 1st dropdownlist..
I have two drop down lists on my page. One (DropDownList A) has the values preset by me. The other (DropDownList B) has its values filled by a database query if a button is pressed. Each of them have AutoPostBack set to true. Each of them have corresponding onselectedindexchanged functions. DropDownList A works fine. When I change it, I want it to turn itself invisible. It does. DropwDownList B is not working. When I select something, it does the postback but the selected item is reset and the onselectedindexchanged function is never called. I feel like this is a problem I've solved in the past, but it's been 3 years since I programmed ASP.NET. All this is done in C# by the way.
When I select from the first dropdown I want to populate the second. However, this is not happening. The postback is happening, but the SelectedIndexChanged handler isn't being called (I have a breakpoint which isn't being hit). The user controls are created dynamically and put into a PlaceHolder which itself is within an AJAX Updatepanel, with ChildrenAsTriggers set to true.
I have 2 dropdownlists and on change 1st dropdownlist (ddlPlant), the 2nd dropdownlist (ddlCategoryName) refreshes its data based on 1st dropdownlist value. However, the codes does not worked.
I have three drop down lists that are all databound to a gridview. When the user selects 1. a school, 2. a house number, and 3. a street from seperate drop down lists, bus stops for that address are displayed in a gridview. Everything works fine. After the user selects a valid school/house number/street combination the gridview automatically displays. I would like to add a "Submit" button and not have the gridview display until this button is clicked.
Stuck trying to populate a dropdownlist with an ObjectDataSource using the wizard.
using the wizard i can successfully configure the datasource, then I can choose the datasource. The next step you should be able to select your display value and the selected value. However, these boxes are not populated within the wizard. I added a gridview to test the datasource and it displays fine.

I just installed IE9 on my machine and when I opend my ASP.NET application its DropDownList is not working. When I click on button next to the dropdown list it does not open the selection box.
And then i have a codeBehind i get an Error 1 'SortBy' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level. and i cant see why!??My codebehind (default.aspx.vb) is
I have 3 security question drop down menus. I have javascript on the ASPX page that removes questions/repopulates them when you select a questions (so you cannot reselect the questions in the other 2 boxes). This works wonderfully when a user is editing their profile with already selected questions. However, when a user first selects the questions where all three boxes are listing "select a question" at selectedIndex 0, the onChange doesn't fire. The function won't even go. I think this has a big something to do with the on change from selected index of 0. I have debugged this thing and it doesn't even enter the function. I even set the onchange action to flash an alert. It just seems something is going wrong when i try to action onchange from selected index of 0.
my code is very simple. I have one updatepanel, it has one lable and one dropdownlist. everytime, dropdownlist index changed. Label shows selected value. if you select any options besides the first one, it works. if you go back to the first option, then event will not get fired. spending hrs searching on google, couldn't find anything useful.
I am trying to use a solution for a cascading dropdownlist (the selection in one dropdownlist determines the options in the second one) found here:

[code]...
how to get a default value for the dropdownlists. Since otherwise the customer dropdownlist will have a value when you first get to the page, but the task list won't...
I feel so stupid asking this because this used to be such a easy task in webforms. Well here we go. It's on my admin part I got a site called edit, on that site there are a dropdown so I can choose what site to edit, once choosen it suppose to get the site body and put it in the textboxes and keep the selected site in the dropdown, this is all suppose to be on the same site Edit. I'm totally lost on how this should be done. this is the code I got so far in my AdminController, I only populate the Dropdown with Editable sites available.
Im working on an ASP.Net web forms application, where I have a form and the Index is working correctly, until I select a value from one specific control, a dropdownlist. After that no matter what control I am on if I press TAB it will go to the URL/Address Bar, from there to the search bar and then again to the URL bar...
I inherited a site which I am in the middle of updating which has a DropDownList and a RangeValidator assigned to it. The data is bound to the dropdown on Page_Load. The values are retrieved from the database so the value property of each item is set to the unique ID of the item in the DB.
The RangeValidator looks something like:
<asp:rangevalidator id="ddRangeValidator" runat="server" ControlToValidate="ddMenu" ErrorMessage="Please select value in range" MinimumValue="1" MaximumValue="100000" Type="Integer">*</asp:rangevalidator>
I have a method which automatically populates this value in jQuery e.g.
$("#ddMenu").val("An Option");
This works, however, when I try to post the page the range validation fails. Then even if I manually select that value, or select another valid value it still won't validate. The only way to make it validate is to select non-valid value and then re-selecting a valid one.
Here is the data binding code:
Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load, Me.Load
If Not Page.IsPostBack Then Dim ds As New DataSet() Dim myDbObject As New myDbObject() ds = myDbObject.ToDataSet() // retrieves all objects from the database
So I am using EW + Access database to create a page.
This page contains two controls. First control is Dropdownlist which databinds with second control Listview.
This listview has paging on becuse of multiple pages. If I don't use QueryStringField paging works but if I use QueryStringField paging doesn't work and it goes back to first option of Dropdownlist.
