I have a issue, and i need your opinion how I can do it. May be someone from you did the same.
for example, we have structure of property address what stored in database:
0. Property type
1. Region
2. Postal Code
3. City
4. Street
5. List of properties
I need to build SiteMap with work with SiteMapPath.
If we have small count of records in database this is not a problem but what I need to do if in database present extrimally big count of element for each node (from 0-5) ?
make query to each element and build site map this is not good for two reason perfomance and count of queries to DB.
Is there a way to display an image within a sitemap node, so that the image will display in my menu? I have a series of nodes that open external webpages, and I would like to display a small icon next to the text of that node so that a user knows that link will open a new window. I've seen this done on other sites using aspx, but can't figure out how it's done.
How to hide any node (and it's child nodes) based upon roles without configuring the SiteMapProvider to enable security or securityTrimmingEnabled="true" .
I have a menu in my application (created from the sitemap) which I want available to two user roles. However, there are items on that menu, I want available only to one role or the other. So I have created the following in my sitemap.
[Code]....
Essentially, I want employees with the "TimeUser" role to see the "My Profile" link that goes to the EmpProfile.aspx page, but not the link to the client profile page. However, when an employee logs in, they see both. I am guessing this may be because the "My Account" node which contains them allows both roles. Is there a way around this without duplicating the "My Account" node?
I have a few items apart of my Web.sitemap file that rely on querystring or session variables. I do not want these items to appear in my menu. Is there a way to hide it from the menu, but still be in the sitemap (for sitepath control).
I'm coding an Webpage in VS.NET 2010[C#] that scans the Serial Number of Product into a Treeview in a Work Order > Box > Product hierarchy.
What I wanted to do was to use the following to Remove the ChildNodes:
//Use the GetEnumerator method to create an enumerator that contains the root node data. IEnumerator nodeEnumerator = myTreeView.CheckedNodes.GetEnumerator(); // Iterate through the enumerator to display the root nodes. while (nodeEnumerator.MoveNext()) { /In here I would like to Remove the TreeNode //MessageBox(((TreeNode)(nodeEnumerator.Current)).Text); } } else { MessageBox("The TreeView control does not have any nodes."); }
I used customized sitemap providers to add dynamic nodes in the master page. ( by Override the " BuildSiteMap() " method, add dynamic node into the existing sitemap based on the user's roll. For example, when admin user login , I will add a dynamic node into the map as "Admin link", when general user login, I will add a dynamic node into the sitemap as "general", when default( not log in mood), I will add a dynamice node as "not log in " . menu works when the user first load the page, but menu never change again if I switch the user's log. Does anybody has a good idea how to either make the sitemap refresh when I switch the user's login ? Or any other good idear on how to make my goal accomplished?
I would like to generate a dynamic sitemap to my website. It should be updated daily. Depends up on database user i have to generate.I am in initial stage of my website development. What are the things i have to take care. And how to develop a sitemap according to my requirement. I am using TeamSys 2008
the problem is: "~/Index.aspx" and "~/Column.aspx?ColumnId=1" are actual URLs and navigation bar: "Home > Column1" really works,
but "~/Content.aspx?ColumnId=1" is only the beginning part of actual dynamic URL, for example: it may be ~/Content.aspx?ColumnId=1&NewsId=12598 or ~/Content.aspx?ColumnId=1&NewsId=37215
all the previous Urls are articles of Column1 with same "~/Content.aspx?ColumnId=1" but are followed with different "&NewsId=number".
So, how can I realize this kind of navigation bar?
I am an newbie to this technology. I had requirement kind of thing, like, I had 5 cascading drop downs, which I created by using ajax control tool kit drop-down extenders, and used web-service to update the cascading drop downs content.
In the same form I need to create a grid, so based upon selection of the user, the grid should change dynamically, like I would like to have some examples kind of things, lets say, I had Four cascading drop- downs, like 1) Vehicles, 2) Hotels 3)Games 4) Year
And those can be sub-categorized to
1) Vehicles ----- Three Wheelers, Two Wheelers, Four Wheelers 2) Hotels -------- Five Star Hotels, Luxurious Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Pubs 3) Games ------- Play Stations, Video Games 4) Year ----------- Manufactured or established in that particular year
so, If the user selects vehicles, then we need to show all the information regarding vehicles, and if he selects hotels , we need to get the information of vehicles, and hotels( * note, I may not be able to give u the right example, once again i want remind you that these drop downs were cascading drop downs, based upon one selection, other works) and like wise if he selects year, we need to show information of all the things manufactured or established in that particular year and here year is not a cascading drop down, and all these information is maintained in a single database table
And currently I am using Microsoft Sql Server 2008 R2, Visual Studio 2008, Using c#, ( i would be happy, if anyone gives me a code kind of thing, not mandatory, only if possible)...
i want to build dynamic sitemap from database..even my menu items are also dynamic...and i want do display sitemap having categories and related menu items from database..
so i dont know how to build dynamic site and create dymanic links of that menus and categories..
I have a web application that contains a MasterPage and a Web.sitemap file for the navigation. I am loading the navigation into an <asp:Repeater> control and I associating it with <asp:LinkButton>; something like this:
[Code]....
I have two issues:
Setting Session Variables: I'd like to set some session variables when any menu item is clicked.Dynamic Url: Once the Session variables are set, I'd like to set the url dynamically after the Session variable is set The thing is, I'd like to use the same aspx file for two different menu items, and I'd also like to set some session variables at the time of menu selection. I am aware that I cannot use the same url when I define the url in the web.sitemap file.
<authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="Login" defaultUrl="DailyLog" timeout="2880" cookieless="UseCookies" /> </authentication> when i browse my application through local host , it shows Login screen , also validating the credentials , but without entering any credentials if i change my Url at login page from :
http://localhost:49702/LoginÂ
to
http://localhost:49702/DailyLog
it goes to DailyLog without confirming the login ...Â
in Login Screen on Submit button Click event i have done this :
I have a code that load hierarchy( nodes) into trew view.. by selecting different date, the hierarchy result from SP will show in the treeview..
the problem is even though I select a different date.. the result( node) of previous date is still showing in addition to the new hierarchy result...
it;s like the new result node is appended to existing node.. instead of refreshing the node and showing only the new result. How can I clear out the treeview nodes before adding new nodes from different date?
I have a set of three dropdowns using the cascadingdropdown extender from the toolkit. It is setup and working fine for saving off user selections to the database. How do i set them when a user comes back to the page to the users saved selections. I use a webservice to set the data for each dropdown as the parent dropdown is selected.
I have a web app with treeview based on a fairly simple sitemap. The only catch is that I want to be able to remove nodes based on a user's role. We are NOT using the asp.net security so I can't take advantage of the built-in function. When I put code in the master page load event (or anywhere else it seems), there seems to be nothing in the treeview object yet, so I can't make changes to it.
I have a Menu control in MasterPage based on web.sitemap file. My website has roles enabled (AspNetWindowsTokenRoleProvider) and uses Windows authentication mode. So, user has to be in a specific Windows Group to be able to access the site. I need to allow some users to see all menu nodes and some restricted set of nodes. How do I do that?
I would like to be able to create, say following Windows groups:
