i have asp.net treeview control on my masterpage which is associated with many pages now my requirement is that when ever iam clicking child nodes in the treeview its getting navigate to the appropriate page but treeview not retaining its position.its getting collapse to its default position.
I have a site with a few pages, and I decided to have my navigation button (to go from page to page) on my site.master page so every page looks the same. Two questions:
1. is that the correct thing to do? seems to work fine, I'm just not sure if it is proper or not.
2. with the navigation/buttons being on the site.master. How can I pass an "id" from one page to another.
I want the postbackurl to be "~/Inbounds.aspx?id=" a value from a textbox on the page you are leaving. More or less to pass a company name or ID number from page to page, so the queries know who the "owner" is?
I am having difficulties combing site navigation & securityTrimmingEnabled together. Please see my code below, let me know what am I missing:web.config file:
i want to display my navigation in 2 horizontal menus, one on the top, the other on the bottom. I also want to use sitemap since it ease the maintenance of links. Is there a simple way to achieve this ? (I am not talking about Parent child, say i want to display the first 8 nodes in up menu and the left in the bottom menu.)
I am an newbie to this technology. I had requirement kind of thing, like, I had 5 cascading drop downs, which I created by using ajax control tool kit drop-down extenders, and used web-service to update the cascading drop downs content.
In the same form I need to create a grid, so based upon selection of the user, the grid should change dynamically, like I would like to have some examples kind of things, lets say, I had Four cascading drop- downs, like 1) Vehicles, 2) Hotels 3)Games 4) Year
And those can be sub-categorized to
1) Vehicles ----- Three Wheelers, Two Wheelers, Four Wheelers 2) Hotels -------- Five Star Hotels, Luxurious Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Pubs 3) Games ------- Play Stations, Video Games 4) Year ----------- Manufactured or established in that particular year
so, If the user selects vehicles, then we need to show all the information regarding vehicles, and if he selects hotels , we need to get the information of vehicles, and hotels( * note, I may not be able to give u the right example, once again i want remind you that these drop downs were cascading drop downs, based upon one selection, other works) and like wise if he selects year, we need to show information of all the things manufactured or established in that particular year and here year is not a cascading drop down, and all these information is maintained in a single database table
And currently I am using Microsoft Sql Server 2008 R2, Visual Studio 2008, Using c#, ( i would be happy, if anyone gives me a code kind of thing, not mandatory, only if possible)...
I have a requirement where I have to transfer a user from Web Site 1 on Server A to web Site 2 on Server B.
On Web Site 1, I have to provide controls to enter user id and password and which have to be validated on Web Site 2 on server B, after validating them I have to redirect the user to Web site 2.
what is best way fo doing it. code examples are greatly appreciated.
Note: On Web Site 2, user login functionality is already existing and it is provided by ASP.Net login control, am not sure how to handle the user login process from two different places.
or is it the best way to move Web Site 2 from Server B to Server A so that, the same login controls will be shown using Iframe on Web Site A.
am wondering how to do the following... I have a registration system. When the user successfully registers, he is then led down a series of data gathering pages (for his profile) and then, finally, ends on his profile's home page where he can start to use the site. All this happens without ever logging into the system so, he is unauthenticated and unconfirmed. My question is, how does this happen? How can I allow my user to be unauthenticated (and unconfirmed, but this I understand) and use all aspects of the Web site? The way I have things set up right now, my code should be doing this:
case CreateProfileStatus.Success: //FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userName, false); Response.Redirect("NextPage.aspx", false);
I have a set of three dropdowns using the cascadingdropdown extender from the toolkit. It is setup and working fine for saving off user selections to the database. How do i set them when a user comes back to the page to the users saved selections. I use a webservice to set the data for each dropdown as the parent dropdown is selected.
I am building a project in asp.net 4.0. My navigation will be database driven where i return a datatable from the db containing all the pages of my site, some will be top level while others will be children and sometimes children of children n-times. Im thinking of going down the nested repeater route and databinding from code behind, dynamically generating repeaters for children, but have read that this is not a best practice and should consider the listview control. Im wanting to build a list of links using an unordered list.
I have a very simple user control with 5 radio buttons on it, and 3 properties (ID, RatingSetID, and Rating). On the initial load of the page they are on, the code acquires data and places the data into the 3 properties. However, when the submit button is clicked the page reloads and the 3 properties get reset to 0, they are in the !IsPostBack as well.
I'm using a custom sqlsitemapprovider to get my site hierarchy out of the database and display my navigation. Now, I have the following main (parent) nodes:
Home - Products - News. What I want to achieve is this, suppose you click on products then a subnavigation appears like this:
productGroup1,productGroup2, productGroup3.
But when you click products, no selection was made from the subnavigation, how would I achieve that if someone clicks on products, the first product with content from the first productGroup1 shows up?
To visualize this: I click on Products -> Subnavigaton gets rendered -> PG1 - PG2 - PG3 -> page displays product1 of PG1
Is there as build in manner to accomplish this or how would one create a method to make this work?
P.S.:For my navigation, I'm not using any build in navigation controls, I'm rendering my menu as an html unordered list e.g: <ul><li></li></ul>
I am currently working on a document management system in ASP.NET 3.5 using the Telerik AJAX toolkit. It consists of masterpage with a title banner across the top and a RadTreeview down the left hand side for navigation through the site. The treeview uses a combination of static nodes and dynamic ones. The dynamic nodes are populated via a webservice. When a node is clicked the relevant page is navigated to, reloading the masterpage and displaying the content of the target page.
The problem comes from the fact the treeview's dynamic nodes are populated via a webservice and therefore as the user navigates through the tree to find a document the treeview behaves as you would expect. However, when you get to the bottom of a tree of dynamic nodes the navigation to the page of the navigateurl causes the relevant page to be loaded and then the treeview resets itself to a collapsed state. This means the user could be deep in a nest of documents but when they view one, the tree collapses and they have to start their navigation all over again. This limitation is not going to be acceptable from an ease of use perspective.
According to Telerik, this is the designed behaviour for performance reasons - the node only ever worries about populating the next set of nodes and therefore the treeviews state is not remembered in viewstate.
So, the meat of question is. Is the masterpage/async treeview navigation design pattern a valid one? Are there any other ways to have an ajax treeview on a masterpage, that remembers it's state when another page is navigated to? I have considered a siglepage/updatepanel/partial page rendering model but the opinions I've seen on the net infer that this is bad idea. It confuses users that expect back/forward browser behaviour to navigate through the site but in a single page world they would end up leaving the site.
I also thought that maybe using a single page container and an iframe may work but this seems to be moving away from the "standard" design pattern of using masterpages.
Our site is expected to allow the user to do whatever they want from a number of different places. Except, that doing whatever they want really means firing off mini sequences of pages they must vist (or possibly abort from to go off to another task) before returning to their starting point. So, at any given time, the user has a list of pages they are allowed to go to, a list of pages they must go to in order to complete their task, and some end point they must eventually return to, all of which are constantly changing.
As an example, a user may choose to edit an order they placed, at which point they must step through a series of pages to edit the order. These pages to edit an order may be different based on the type of order they are editing, and they must return to whatever place they were at when they decided to start editing the order. They may also have certain options of other pages to visit during their order editing process.
I really need a good way to handle this for a large number of different scenarios, and allow it to be easily changed. Right now we are doing things like setting session variables when a user chooses an action and checking them within the page on button handlers to see what they are allowed to do or where they are allowed to go. I'd love to be able to abstract this out into something that can be easily examined in one place, or even data driven, and have some sort of navigation controller pointing them to the pages they can or must go.
This is what I have in the RegisterUser.aspx and yet when the admin registers a new user, then on clickiing the register button, the site logs in as the user who was just created.
I have a name textbox, label, usercontrol, submit button in my page inside a master page. when the button is clicked iam using the label to show the user "Please enter name". But any postback happens inside the user control then this lable gets cleared, how to retain the value on the postback of the user control.
I have a querystring created that contains + character. This is not a space character but an actual + sign in an encrypted string. Below is one example...
[Code]....
My code when reads above QS, I am losing + character in it if I use URLDecode. If I remove URLDecode, and just read as Querystring method, I lose the '=' character... and it gets replaced by %3d or like charcters...
What I am looking for is to save above QS in a variable... the way it is.. PAXGR52H8SS4bSWTn+HyZg==
