Web Forms :: Use Treeview.CheckedNodes.GetEnumerator To Remove Nodes?

Jul 15, 2010 04:11 PM

I'm coding an Webpage in VS.NET 2010[C#] that scans the Serial Number of Product into a Treeview in a Work Order > Box > Product hierarchy.

What I wanted to do was to use the following to Remove the ChildNodes:

//Use the GetEnumerator method to create an enumerator that contains the root node data.
IEnumerator nodeEnumerator = myTreeView.CheckedNodes.GetEnumerator();
// Iterate through the enumerator to display the root nodes.
while (nodeEnumerator.MoveNext())
/In here I would like to Remove the TreeNode
MessageBox("The TreeView control does not have any nodes.");

Web Forms :: TreeView CheckedNodes Collection Empty On Button Click And Postback To Server

Mar 22, 2010 09:48 PM

I have an ASP .Net TreeView control that I am dynamically adding tree nodes to from my codebehind on Page_PreRender. The TreeView is populated nicely and the appropriate checkboxes are where they are expected to be. For each of these nodes the SelectAction=TreeNodeSelectAction.None. However, when accessing the TreeView CheckedNodes() collection in my codebehind after selecting a few nodes (checkboxes are selected) and clicking a submit button to post back to the server in the button click event, my CheckedNodes.count() = 0. I can not figure out why my CheckedNodes collection in the codebehind does not contain the nodes that I have checked from the GUI.

I have a code that load hierarchy( nodes) into trew view.. by selecting different date, the hierarchy result from SP will show in the treeview..

the problem is even though I select a different date.. the result( node) of previous date is still showing in addition to the new hierarchy result...

it;s like the new result node is appended to existing node.. instead of refreshing the node and showing only the new result. How can I clear out the treeview nodes before adding new nodes from different date?

Web Forms :: TreeView - What's The Values For The Id's For The Previous Nodes

Aug 31, 2006 04:04 PM

I am trying to use a tree which i populate from a database. So after few populations on demand i come to a node that is lets say depth 4.Something like:

When i click on Node4 i would like to be fired off to a page that will take input.But the trick is that the input depends on how deep in the tree am i.I need to know what the values for the id's for the previous nodes were. Any way to remember them? Here is a scenario.Let sayi have : Block

where each of those names will be an id.So when i click on table i would be ideally fired off to an page with input area.When i enter the values and send off to the database i need to record them for that table which is in the specific room,in the specific building and specific block.So i need to remember the ids of all the nodes above.

Web Forms :: Adding Nodes To A Treeview Control?

Sep 26, 2009 04:48 PM

I have a treeview control and at run time I declare a tree node and want to add that to the treeview control. I can do this without any issues.

My requirment is to search in the tree view for the node and add it if not found.

ex: I already have a the following in my treeview control:

MainFolder -> Sub1 -> Sub2

My node has the following.

MainFolder -> Sub3 -> Sub12

I want to add my node so that I get the following result.

Mainfolder -> sub1 -> sub2
Mainfolder -> Sub3-> Sub12

I tried many different methods, but nothing worked. Following code was the closest I could use. This works if the nodes are not found, but if the node already exists, it creates a duplicate node. Also I must do this run time. Cannot get data from the database.

Function FindAndAddNode(ByVal nd As TreeNode, ByVal ndNew As TreeNode) As Boolean
For i As Integer = 0 To nd.ChildNodes.Count
For j As Integer = 0 To ndNew.ChildNodes.Count
If nd.Text = ndNew.Text Then

Web Forms :: Treeview Expand/collapse All Nodes Client Side?

Mar 26, 2010 02:31 AM

This is so frustrating...that such a simple feature should not be included in the design of this control. I am using the cssfriendly adapters and the rendered code is shown below.

I thought I might be able to use the adapter's treeview JS function ExpandCollapse__AspNetTreeView(this) since this is what is called when I click on the node that causes it to expand/contract. But that did not work.

I have seen other code posted but it seemed to imply the treeview was a table not a ul.

Does anyone know how to simply expand or collapse all nodes from a link button without doing the postback. Of course the postback works but what a waste to have to postback to do such a simple action.

Why doesn' t MS consider the users and developers when creating these controls and tools? Stupid!

Web Forms :: Treeview Nodes Shift Left When They Are Prefilled As Checked?

Feb 18, 2009 04:48 PM

I was wondering if this is a known bug or there is something wrong with the way I databind the treeview.

I have a dynamically populating treeview when user expands the node. So basically I get top nodes, create them, then once user expands the node I create the rest. Everything looks fine as long as the checkboxes are not prefilled. If I have a dataset with the items which need to be selected and I check my expending nodes against that dataset. Once some nodes are selected, the level of those nodes shifts left at the lavel of its parent. I first thought that there is a problem of the width of the div I placed the treeview into but that does not matter. Even if it has enough space it still shifts left. I checked the tree and the nodes and paths are correct. Is this some sort of a bug or I'm missing something here?

Web Forms :: Treeview - Selected Nodes Via Javascript, And Automatically Scrollable Div's?

Nov 25, 2009 03:59 AM

I am having a couple of issues with my ASP.NET Treeview.My tree is populated dynamically. When I create each parent/child note I assign the property

childNode.NavigateUrl = "Javascript:nodeClicked('" + childNodeAssetCode + "')";

When a node is clicked, I assign the clicked value into a textbox on my main form via javascript function. I would like to highlight the node that has been selected, but the 'SelectedNodeStyle-BackColor' property does not take effect. how I could assign this? Maybe via Javascript?

2. I have a search TextBox and Button for my tree that will build and locate the node the user has entered.

The problem I have with this is the tree is located in a scrollable Div. If the node that the user has entered is say for example; 20 nodes down, and 5 nodes in, the user will have to scroll the div both down and across to locate the node. to automatically scroll the div, so the found node will be at the top? Much like how windows explorer tree works.

Can Treeview Nodes Work Without Javascript

Jan 22, 2011 03:43 PM

I understand that a treeview cannot expand/collapse without javascript. But is it possible to open the treeview in expanded form when javascript is disabled? Even if I cannot expand/collapse the nodes, at least I can click on the nodes that will display the data related to that node.

Similar to the treeview used in online auction sites, our treeview looks something like this: [URL], where clicking on a link will redirect me, and clicking on the "+" will expand or collapse the node. The only difference would be that ours is databound.

Another developer is working on this and he tells me that this is not possible without javascript. This webform in particular works almost entirely without javascript, and I'd like the treeview to also work partially.
