Sep 18, 2010Here is my scenario.In default.aspx page user selects the country, state, city from drop down list, and store them in cache for further use. but when other user open the web site from other computer it shows the same country, state, and city selected by user 1. Is there any problem related to cache? I have stored data as following.

Is it possible to change the startup page so that it isn't Default.aspx? If so, how do you do it?

But when I configure forms authentication the images and CSS on default page works only when someone logins, otherwise they dint work. I am using Master page also.
Master page, css folder and images folder exist on Root.

Mar 15, 2010I create a website with enable default content page. the default content is login page index.aspx. During testing, I found one interesting issue. If I type the URL in browser without specify the page, the site is working fine.

If I change the url with specify the default entry page, index.aspx, the login page is working correctly. The problem is, in navigate to another page, I can see one Get index.aspx request send back to server. I don't see this 200 request in the previous test. Why? is that anything wrong?

The function isNormalMode() is defined in the code behind file MasterPage.master.cs, and everything is working properly in the page Default.aspx, but in the rest of the pages it doesn't execute the function at any time, so the item always remain visible.

Jun 8, 2010i have a master page that has a an accordion and inside the accordion is a cscading dropdownlist and then a button... Basically you select the values from the dropdowns and the click the button to change the content form from default.aspx to history.aspx. This works fine the first time I do it with the exception that cascadiing ddl all reset and then if i populate again and clcik the button again I get the following error(below)... I know I can set enableEventValidation = false, but wondered why this is occuring and what effect setting it to false would have? The second part of the question would be how do I maintain the ddl values when the page changes from default to History.sapx? I am using the following for the button.

In test.aspx, I am setting some values in a collection object and then setting this object in session. I am not getting but somehow during execution of test.aspx, the default.aspx gets called where the session containing object gets reset. Its very important for me to know whey this default.aspx gets called even I am not making any call to it. I have other pages also like a.aspx,b.aspx, c.aspx, d.aspx and many more. All other pages work fine.

Feb 12, 2011When I tested web site on SEO Tools in IIS7 I get this SEO Error: The page contains multiple canonical formats. The page with URL "[URL]" can also be accessed by using URL "[URL]".Search engines identify unique pages by using URLs. When a single page can be accessed by using any one of multiple URLs, a search engine assumes that there are multiple unique pages. Use a single URL to reference a page to prevent dilution of page relevance. You can prevent dilution by following a standard URL format.
Recommended action: Pick a canonical URL format for your site and then ensure that all the links in your site follow that format. (For example, always use lowercase letters.) If an external link that points to your site does not use the canonical URL format, use permanent HTTP redirection to redirect site visitors and search engines to a canonical equivalent of that URL.
I tried to solve this by redirect page to a default.aspx. The problem is that HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.ToString(), always shows [URL] So I can't detect if url typed in browser is only [URL] or [URL] I know that that can be solved in IIS7, but I can't access it to do that in hosting server. Is any solution in ASP.NET to redirect to default page any time when in browser is typed only domain name?

this means that when a user log in, will be redirected to "default.aspx" using this method

Now is it possible to make the user choose which page to be redirected to prior to login? for example the user chooses from a list the page to login to prior to login then when authenticated be redirected to this page instead of the default.aspx page. is that possible and if so how can this be done?

Mar 21, 2011the default ASP.NET Forms Authentication cookie sets it's name as ".ASPXAUTH". Notice the first character is a period? Is there a particular reason for this? Like, does this have an impact on domain names or subdomains for the target domain.
Or is it purely some random thing an MS dev person came up with (maybe to help out the ordering of the cookies, when they were debugging or something .. as text with periods prolly get listed before other strings)?
