MVC :: Detect Page Refresh In MVC

Oct 5, 2010

I have been developing a quiz application in asp.net mvc. In this quiz user is give a list of topic to take quiz. On click of one of the topic the user is taken to new page. In the get part action of this page i have taken some parameters, generated questions for the quiz, register quiz for the user (save in db)and save the generated questions in db.

Now the problem is:

User see the page, if user hits the "submit" button after selecting the answer than it is ok but If user refresh the page. Then the get action is called again and new set of questions are generated and new quiz is registered to user.

How can i avoid this?

Is there any way to detect that the get action is called the second time or to detect page refresh in as.net mvc.

If you could suggest design changes that it is ok too? i just need to make sure if user refresh the page the question need not be generated again and new quiz should not be registered to user.

Google Chrome To Full Page Reload On Postback?

Sep 27, 2010

I am creating one of my first Asp.Net tools and I ran in to a small bump. Currently I am doing a postback on a buttonclick which does some server-side calculations. The server-side code then uses those calculations to alter the contents of a div. In IE and Firefox when a postback happens, the div updates as expected. However, in chrome all postbacks do a complete refresh of the entire page. What is causing this and is there a way around this behavior?

Update:
ClientSide I have the following..
<asp:Button ID="Button2" Style="float: right" runat="server"
OnClick="S_ButtonClick" Text="Calculate" />

Which calls a method summarized as so.

protected void S_ButtonClick(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//Code parsing values from textboxes ect.
//Do Some Calculations
//Output Results
outputDiv.InnerHtml = "<h2>Foo</h2><br/>";
outputDiv.InnerHtml += "Bar: " + calcValue;
}

It is possible that when this postback(if I understand this correctly) happens, that it is still fully reloading in firefox and ie, but it doesn't show it. This effectively masks the postback. However, when I test in chrome, any postback completely blanks the page before reloading the state. Hopefully this clears up exactly what I am asking. Also, my C#/.Net usage might be slightly flawed and I am willing to take comments on such.

Web Forms :: Refresh A Page On Postback?

Oct 12, 2010

I've got a page with several gridviews that populate on page load. After user makes choices with radio buttons insid the gridview and presses submit I would liek the page to refresh and reload all gridviews.

postback page load loop and data doesn't get saved to the DB so I have to use If not Page.IsPostback then to avoid the loop.

After pressing submit, if I navigate to another page, then navigate back, I get the desired result I'm looking for a fresh reload.

how can I have the entire page reload fresh after the submit button is pressed? (it has to save data first then reload)

Refresh A Page Without Postback?

May 3, 2010

There is a asp:Label in the page for showing message from server.

The message can be sent by server at any time.

I added a handler to update the Label's Text, like following:

void MessageReceived(object senders, EventArgsMessageReceived e)
{
lblMessage.Text = e.Message;
lblMessage.DataBind(); //To show the message
}

I am sure the break point of 'lblMessage.Text = e.Message;'' is hitted.

But the DataBind() seems not work, and the label isn't updated.

To expound more, if I have a click eventhandler using the command button which updates a records, I want to refresh or reload the page right after the update event so that the records in my gridview control will be updated as well right after you click the update button. I need the code for that to refresh or reload the page using either c# or vb.net.

Refresh A Control On The Master Page After Postback?

Apr 12, 2010

What i am trying to do here is to show a couple of validation messages in form of a bulletlist, so i have a Div on my master page containing a asp:bulletlist. Like this:

<div>
<asp:BulletedList ID="blstValidationErrorMessage" runat="server" BulletStyle="Disc">
</asp:BulletedList>
</div>

When i then click the Save button from any of my pages (inside the main contentPlaceHolder) i create a list of messages and give this list as datasouce like this:

blstValidationErrorMessage.DataSource = validationMessageCollection;
blstValidationErrorMessage.DataBind();

The save button is located inside an updatepanel:

asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="UpdatePanel" ChildrenAsTriggers="true" UpdateMode="Conditional">

Nothing happens, i can see that the datasource of the bulletlist contains X items, the problems must arise because the Save button is inside an update panel and the elements outside this updatepanel (master page controls for example) is not refreshed.

So my question is, how do i make the bulletlist refresh after the postback?

JQuery :: Clear/reload/refresh Async Treeview?

Jun 24, 2010

I've implemented the JQuery Async Treeview (in APS.NET MVC2) and it works fine, but the problem is when the user adds new nodes to a tree (via another interface), there is no way to reload the tree and reflect the new tree structure.

The only way to see the changes in the tree is to shut down the browser (IE8). Trying .empty() on the tree on every reload doesnt do anything.

Heres the page source:

[Code]....

the URL /OrganizationStructure/Browse is only called when the tree is being built the first time..i cant for the life of me get it to rebuild even when the browsers "Refresh/Reload" button is clicked.

I did try setting the linkbutton's id as the trigger for the update panel and still causes same page refresh. The scriptmanager is on the masterpage with enablepartialrendering = true.
