Web Forms :: How To Highlight The Textbox Value In Dropdown List
Dec 14, 2010
I have one Textbox, Dropdownlist and a button on web form. When i type one of Dropdown list values in text box and click on "Button" dropdown value should be highlighted. How do i do this?
Ex:
Assume one of the values in Dropdownlist is "TX-Texas"
If i type same value (.i.e.) TX-Texas in Textbox and click on Button..the value "TX-Texas" in dropdownlist should be highlighted?
We have a page with quite a few textboxes and a dropdown list at the end. The dropdown list at the end is a "Result" and dependant on the result certain textboxes need to be filled in and this needs to be checked when they submit the page. I was thinking of using a custom validator
the following content I created a table (Workers) with two columns(username, userid). Now i have Dropdownlist and textbox. Dropdownlist for Userid, Textbox for Username. If i click on the userid in dropdownlist, then the particular username should get displayed on the textbox. For this i have tried codings.
private void DropDownList() { OleDbConnection databaseConnection = new OleDbConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[1].ConnectionString); databaseConnection.Open(); OleDbDataAdapter dataAdapter = new OleDbDataAdapter("Select userid from workers", databaseConnection); DataTable dataTable = new DataTable(); dataAdapter.Fill(dataTable); DropDownListMaterials.DataSource = dataTable; DropDownListMaterials.DataTextField = "userid"; DropDownListMaterials.DataValueField = "userid"; DropDownListMaterials.DataBind(); } protected void DropDownListMaterials_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { OleDbConnection databaseConnection = new OleDbConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[1].ConnectionString); databaseConnection.Open(); OleDbCommand MyCommand = new OleDbCommand("select username from gridview where userid=('" + DropDownListMaterials.SelectedItem + "')", databaseConnection); TextBoxUsername.Text = } private void DropDownList()
I am stuck at this point "Displaying a dropdown list of Categories with a --None -- Option. I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". When i click on edit to edit or change category, it doesn't display the selected category.
The example is given below( I am reading the book Sams Teach yourself ASP.NET 2.0 by Scott Mitchell. page 628)

i have 4 text boxes and 2 dropdowns are there when ever i fill it all values should place in grid view., after entering of 5 or 6 records, i click on SAVE button then ,i want to save those values in to Data Base ,which are at Grid view.....
I have a master page which has an unordered list in this way:
[code]....
These links are directed to my content pages. I am able to highligt the selected list item on hover and on active.
But I do not understand how I can highlight the selected list item as long as the user is on that specific page/link (current list item). I know that we can specify a seperate body tag and id for each of the content pages and then use CSS to highlight the current list item, but all this code rests already inside a body tag in the master page.
I would like to alter the query that is run, depending on the selection made by the user in a drop down list on the same page. Would this best be done using a partial page update (AJAX)? Ideally it would be great to have the textbox result change quickly once the drop-down list value has changed, without a full page postback. I would like to change the SQL query to a completely different query if the user selects an option different to the default (page_load value) in the drop-down list. I would then like the newly retrieved result to be displayed in the textbox as before.
create List of dynamic asp:Label, asp:textbox and asp:button when asp:dropdown selected index changed Dropdown List - ddlLang - English, Italian, French, German
If English is selected from ddlLang Create new asp:Label, asp:textbox and asp:button. If French is selected create another new asp:Label, asp:textbox and asp:button. In the same way so on.... and when button submit clicked get all dynamic text box values and label values to Save to DB.
I have a text box placed inside a gridview(template) . I need to update its value by a dropdown list event (Selected Item Changed event) placed in the same gridVew. But The problem is that , I need to update the text box of the same row the dropdown list (whose textChange Event haas been fired)
I have a dropdown list with the names of the months listed in it. These names are stored as int values but converted to string for display purpose. I also have a RadDatePicker control that will allow the user to select a specific date to overwrite the default date. The default date in the textbox needs to be set to the last day of the month selected (i.e. May 2010 would default to 05/31/2010).
I need to be able provide a table on web page with one row which has a two drop down list and one textbox and the user's should be able to add any number of rows they want. I need to to this using jquery so that i can avoid post back. Is this possible to be done in Jquery and if it is possible i was looking for some example which will be like a pointer
I am having an dropdownlistbox and fileupload control. After selecting a file from upload control,if i change the dropdownlist value(postback occurs) then the file path i choosen earlier is shown empty.
I have 2 drop down lists.I have a very simple dropdown list #1 that diplays a title and holds an id value which is a GUID.I know it is getting this value and sending this value as I tested sending it to a label.I have the dropdown list #1 to autopostback to dropdown list #2 that "Is supposed to get" another title and value based on the GUID value of the first dropdown list. for some reason it wont return anything. I have done 100's of these but never based off a guid value.I assume the value needs to be converted to guid before selecting it in the second dropdown list. How can I do this? or is there something I am missing?
Does anyone know how to do this so when I select something the 1st dropdown and the 2nd one becomes visible and populates list from a Select statement. I really need help on how to do in an aspx and not on the code behind page.
I Have the gridview control with 2 dropdown list and 2 text boxes,When the textbox chnaged event happen 1 row will create and the dropdown back to initial values( its not retaining the selected values),I am binding the control after text changed method,Is there any properties needs to be set or any other way we can retain the values in postbacks?
I'm trying to highlight the content of a textbox when it gets focus. I make a selection from a dropdown and the focus is moved to the texbox, I would like the current content of the texbox to be highlighted. How is this done?
textbox1 = "Hello bob, How are you" textbox2 = "Hello cad, how are you"
I have looped through each text box and know that the area I want to highlight on textBox 2 is between the charaters 7 and 9. How do I highlight only these characters as Bold and with a yellow background?
I've an aspx page with a couple of textboxes, one of which is populated with text from a sqlserver, is it possible to highlight certain words within the text box that match a search critrea? I've opted for textbox to display the text as that seems to be the only control that will format the text correctly. Incidently I'm using vb.net as my code behind
i wanted to know how i could go about selecting all the values of the textbox in one click, and then auto copying it.
So basically, the textbox is a read only, and has text inside, but when the user clicks the textbox, it will highlight the text in the textbox, and autocopy it.
I am trying to highlight textbox border in red instead on showing an error message in summary. I'm using a required field validator to validate the empty textbox How can i do so?
This works fine, but I would now also like to select the data in the textbox so the user does not have to select the text before typing, they can just type straight away. I have been trying to use:
Clicking the label of a drop down list, re-sets the selected value to the first item in the list. This has a history of causing data entry problems when users accidently click on the label.
In the below example ddlContactType has a selected value as 'PRIMARY' and whenever i click on the lblContactType Text, the dropdown box Selected value is changing to "Select One" Text.
How to prevent this one. It should be on PRIMARY Only.
I have a databound dropdownlist and have a problem with the default value it selects. When I attempt to edit a record the dropdownlist shows the first value in the list rather than the current value. I want the dropdown list to display the current value.
I'm sure this is very simple but I'm very new to ASP.NET.
