Using Webform User Control On Webform In MVC Project?

Feb 26, 2010

I am using a server control on a single web.forms page. I have to use this control on a web.forms page since its a server control, although this is actually a MVC project. So I created a web.forms folder and put my new page in it. I then copy the example code from the signature control. I get the following error:

The base class includes the field 'ctrlSign', but its type (WebSignatureCapture.SignatureControl) is not compatible with the type of control (ASP.signaturecapture_signaturecontrol_ctlsignature_ascx).

I know the code works because if I removed the ID attribute from the server control, it no longer gives me this error and my control renders. But I need the attribute for the ID so I can perform is post event

I am using this signature control. Here's the web.forms code...

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Index.aspx.cs" Inherits="KahunaCentralTIDRevamp.SignatureCapture.Index" %> [code]....

Best Way To Notify User In Webform

Jan 26, 2011

I would like to know what is the best way to do a notification in asp.net.For example I have a form in which the user will provide some data. He then click the save button which call the save methode in my code behind.

In the save method I need to query the database to know if another related object exist. If not I need to notify the user that he will have to create the related object. This does not prevent the user from saving the parent object.

So I would like to do a modal popup telling the user : Hey after Im done saving your change, you will have to open another form and create the child object.So should I create another NotificationWebform where the user will be redirect after the sava to notify him. It seems to be a "lot" of effort for a little notification. The best thing for me would be something like an alert in javascript.

Web Forms :: How To Access A Webform Control From Another External Class / Namespace

Sep 24, 2010

Currently, I have many controls and objects such as Chart1 of mschart as part of the public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page.

At the bottom, I've created a second class that is not part of the _Default webform class. How can I access the webform controls from this second class?

For example, I want to do

Chart1.Series["Series1"].Points.AddXY((pointIndex + 1) * 40, datapoints[pointIndex]);

I want to pass pointIndex integer and the datapoints array.

I know that Chart1 was created protected global access modifier in the designer.cs but when I changed it to public, it still had a problem.

Forms Data Controls :: Webform Grid Control With Varying Columns

Oct 7, 2010

I am trying to create a recipe system that will pull material amounts from an already built inventory database upon request for testing purposes of the different recipe runs. What is throwing me for a loop is that each time a user will request a recipe comparison they will have a different number of recipe trial runs for comparison purposes. In order to do this I'm guessing you will need to generate a gridview-like control with a dynamic number of columns which would be specified on a web form page prior to arriving at the recipe formulation page which will contain the control for the recipe formulation. As a result the user will have different columns and rows on this formulation page, with the rows being a static number of 30 (30 being maximum amount of ingredients to include in each recipe). The columns will contain the recipes to be compared, i.e. ProductRun1, ProductRun2, ProductRun3, where the number of ProductRunX will be determined by user input. So the user when they come to this aspx page will be presented with a blank editable grid of X columns by 30 rows deep. The left-most column will contain the ingredient names in a drop down box for users to select to input into their recipe and the rest of the columns will be editable fields where the user can type in the amount of each material to be used. The setup will look roughly like this:

| ProductRun1 | ProductRun2 | ProductRun3 |
ProductRun4 | ... |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Material1 | Material1_Amt | Material1_Amt | Material1_Amt | Material1_Amt | ...|

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Material2 | Material2_Amt | Material2_Amt | Material2_Amt | Material2_Amt | ...|

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Material3 | Material3_Amt | Material3_Amt | Material3_Amt | Material3_Amt | ...|

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(...)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Material30 | Material30_Amt | Material30_Amt | Material30_Amt | Material30_Amt | ...|

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my question is how would I go about tackling something like this and what controls would I use. All of the forum posts around the internet show the GridView control being tied to data in a database already and not having the ability to have a fully blank and editable table upon the page loading so that it can accept user input. Another wrench into the situation is that the column numbers can vary. What control would be used in this situation or would it be better to use just a repeater of textboxes to build this type of control? Another thing is once the control is built how can you pull the data from such a control with the intentions of entering it inside a sql server database?

Set Webform Control Proprieties In .net And Ajax Control Using Javascript?

Apr 4, 2011

how to set webform control proprieties in asp.net and ajax control using javascript. I have asp page that has checkBox, TextBox, MaskedEditExtender, and RegularExpressionValidator.

I set the mask for MaskedEditExtender as Mask="(999)999-9999" and I set the ValidationExpression for RegularExpressionValidator as ValidationExpression="d{10}".

I want to change these two properties when user checked the international checkbox to: Mask="999999999999" and as ValidationExpression="d{12}" Using JavaScript without interrupting with server side and when the user unchecked they get previous value so the interaction should be only in the client side.

Server Controls In User Control Are Null When User Control Serves As A Base User Control ?

Jun 4, 2010

I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.

If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?

C# - Accessing Server Control From Other Webform?

Dec 29, 2010

I have 2 webforms with 1 ListBox Control on each of them.

How do I access the Listbox that's located on webformA from webformB?

For example I wish to declare something like this string name = ListBoxWebformA.SelectedValue.ToString(); on WebFormB, so that I can work with that value in the code of WebFormB.

The ListBox on WebFormA lists several names. When I select a name from the listbox and press the OK button I call Response.Redirect("~/WebFormB.aspx");

So from WebFormB I wish to access this "name" by putting the selected value into a string.

ReportViewer Control Rendering Too Wide On WebForm?

Feb 8, 2011

I have a ReportViewer (ver 10) that is rendering far wider than the box it's meant to display in. The problem is that the Parameters area is appearing much wider than the actual report area. If I put an "overflow: auto" in the div that contains the ReportViewer control, then I get a horizontal scrollbar at the bottom, but then in order to click the "View Report" button I have to scroll way over, thus moving the entire report.

Ideally I would like the Parameters area to stay stationary, but a horizontal scrollbar to appear on the report area so that it can be scrolled if necessary. What is the best way to go about doing this?

Here's what my control setup looks like now:

<div class="reportingFrame" style="text-align: center; width: 100%; overflow: auto">
<sam:ReportViewer ID="UiReportViewer" runat="server"
AsyncRendering="False"
ProcessingMode="Remote"
ShowExportControls="False"
ShowPrintButton="False"
ShowPromptAreaButton="False"
ShowRefreshButton="False"
SizeToReportContent="True"
Width="100%" />
</div>

Currently I'm looking at some jQuery tricks to reformat the output from the ReportViewer control into a better system
