Membership Provider Properties Not Being Read From Web.config
Oct 22, 2010I'm having a problem with a custom Membership implementation for ASP.NET using EF. The thing is, my web.config features the default values for the provider but at runtime those default are only being read in Initialize() the first time provider is instantiated (that happens for instance when I request the Register view via GET but when I fill in the form and POST to the controller the Initialize() on the provider class doesn't get called and all the provider settings are null or default value types value.
This is my web.config section:

Since my provider class is quite huge I am not posting it here but will post some parts of it if requested.

Nov 3, 2010I have a new VS2010 .NET 4.0 Web project and the Properties Folder has gone wierd on me. It has lost teh "Open" under the right click. There is no way to get a Settings file created now.
I am unable to get to the Settings grid and no Settings file is created. I tried the help and it has the normal trip of select Properties, Open (right click), Settings Tab, etc. etc.

Feb 1, 2010In an ascx control, it's possible to expose properties - let's assume the property name is a string property with a get accessor called DataField. If the ascx control contains a bindable templated control like a FormView and the FormView has a template that uses the two-way databinding syntax, why can't you provide a reference to the property in the call to the Bind method? I see that using the Bind method in a databinding expression causes the page parser to generate a method that is something like the following:
public System.Collections.Specialized.IOrderedDictionary @__ExtractValues__control8(System.Web.UI.Control @__container)
In which, I see the following line:
@__table["Some_Field"] = TextBox1.Text;
Now, this method (@__ExtractValues__control8) is an instance member on the same generated class that defines our DataField property, but when page parser goes to compile the control, I receive the following error:A call to Bind was not well formatted. Please refer to documentation for the correct parameters to Bind. I assume from this that the page parser requires a string literal to be provided, but I don't understand why.

Oct 8, 2010Is there any easy way to set properties of a Page (or UserControl for that matter) from *within itself*?As an example, I have several .aspx pages which inherit from exactly the same code-behind class, but I need to be able to pass different properties to the class to make them do the correct thing for the specific .aspx.
The only way I've found to do this is to create the following - which works fine, but doesn't feel right....

It would be a much nicer, simplier and easier solution to be able to be able to set MyProperty = True somewhere... is this possible?The option of hard-coding properties within the class for the "parent" page is not going to work for my situation.

Dec 7, 2010I'm struggling once again to get something centered on a page, and fighting with recalcitrant browsers. I can fix the problem for one browser by adding a style. I can fix it for the other browser by NOT adding the style. I can determine which browser I'm using. If I can change the properties of a div in the code behind, I can create a class and apply it to the div as needed. I added an id to the class:
<div id="alignLV2" runat="server">
but in the code behind, alignLV2 doesn't seem to have a class property. Is there a way to add a class or change the style?

I want to set the value of this property from a user control embedded into the page which is using master page which is embedded into main.master. To clarify further, here's the hierarchy

The property is mpProperty1 which is in main.master. How do I access and set the value of this property from my user control?

Nov 3, 2012I want to set useraccess permission for webforms. I want to have a common class say userClass for that function where privileges are set for e.g. (canAdd,canDelete,canEdit etc). From the webform I need only to check the properties such as canAdd, canDelete, canEdit are true or false. According to that privileges are set.
I dont want to call the userClass function on every page load. It should be automatically called when the page gets loaded.

Feb 26, 2010So I've created a page with zones, a catalog, editor zone and property grid editor part. I have also created a simple webpart as a usercontrol and added to the declarative catalog.
In code behind of my usercontrol page I added some properties and I can edit them just fine however when I click Ok or Apply to the change of any property it takes two post backs before the changes take. So I can click Ok twice or Ok then Apply or Apply and Apply or OK then switch display modes but I will not see the changes take place inside the usercontrol until the second postback.

Using Profile propertiseAs aspnetdb.mdf and aspnetdb_log.ldf are supposed to get created automatically, but only aspnetdb.mdf is getting created log file is not created when i run application and get above error.
