Web Forms :: How To Stop Redirection To Another Link Page
Jun 29, 2010
Is it possible to stop redirection at hyperlink to another link page?
As we do in IE toolbar, when we select the hyperlink element, the toolbar highlight the hyperlink but doesn't dispatch the redirect event, i need the same behavior in my html code.
I am using 4.0 frame work and forms authentication in my web application.I have a default page where i have placed the login link. when the user click the link it redirects to login page and when user is authenticated it redirects to the default page from where the user came . I liked my user to redirect to the admin page after the login no matter from where they login .
I need to debug a page which loads up by redirection from another page. Here's my chain of events:
Page 1 loads, options are set in a form Page 1 options saved into Session variable Page 2 loads and reads Session variable Page 2 processes <-- it is at this point that I need to debug
Page 2 won't actually load without the session variables, so when I hit the Start Debug button in VS2010 I just end up at a blank page.
Is it possible to 'fake' session values before loading page so I can then observe the logic flow, or is there a better way?
1. I need to load a user control on link click event of a link button during postback of aspx page.
2. On button click event of a save button on that aspx page, I need to read the selected values from that user control on further postback.
If I write the loadcontrol code in link_click event, the control is not recognized at all in the button_click event. When I shift it to page_init and execute only during not postback, the user control loads with default values.
Currently, I'm just using clientside Javascript (location.href), but I am wondering if there is a way in Asp.Net to figure out the URL the user originally entered (assume I did not change it myself via 301), or at least to track it in a simple and reliable manner. As I am using my own implementation of URL rewriting via the global.asax (e.g. Context.RewritePath), this is not an easy task, particularly since I don't want to touch it too much.
Example
Global.asax: public override void Init() { base.Init(); this.BeginRequest += new EventHandler(Global_BeginRequest); } void Global_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (VARIOUSCONDITIONS) Context.RewritePath("SOMEURL"); } SomePage.aspx.cs protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Request.RawUrl is equal to "SOMEURL", as //are other properties that store the URL. }
In my gridview i am returning values from database in which 'filelocation' is containing location of pages over my server and i want to use coustom linkbutton in templete field to raise a event and set session variable and then redirect to that page .
My question is how to get value fron 'filelocation' coloum in gried view when a linkbutton in clicked and onclick is fired and also set session value at taht point.
i have a page which consists of a drop down box.in that drop down box i am having two values namely start and stop. i enable the autopostback property to true. when user selects start or stop from dropdowm box, the page is refreshing.now what i want is...when the user selects stop from dropdown box..the page should nt refresh.
I am trying to use the Application_Error to redirect the user to a custom error page. I know I could use the web.config to do this, but let's assume for now that this is not a desirable path to take.
Initially, I tried to do a Response.Redirect to perform this, however, there seem to be occasions where the current http context does not define the response object. So, I attempted to perform a check to make sure that the response object is not null prior to attempting the redirection, and if it is not defined, perform a Server.Transfer instead.
What happens is that in most cases, the Redirect causes the browser to some generic "friendlyish" error page rather than the requested error page.
So then I tried using Server.Transfer exclusively, and this worked well for most cases, however, sometimes the transfer didn't seem to take in the browser. Changing it back to a redirect in these cases solved that problem, but reintroduced the issue where the errors previously being captured and transferred now were being redirected.
What I surmised from this is that in certain contexts where the Application_Error method is trapped, it is necessary to use Server.Transfer in redirection, whereas in others, it is necessary to use Response.Redirect. The question then became twofold: (a) When is one necessary and when is the other? and (b) What available information can I poll to tell me when a given condition exists.
After much searching, I cannot find a reasonable answer to this question. So I began to trap errors and examine the HttpContext object for some indicator. One thing that I was looking for is the reason why if even with a defined Response in the current context does a redirect fail. The only thing that stood out is that even though a Response object may exist, the Session data could be absent. I added the case to check whether the Session data was null and perform a Transfer in this case and it seems to be handling it properly.
I emphasize "seems to be handling it properly" because no documentation I've been able to find confirms either the problem I am having or whether this is an appropriate strategy for solving it.
I guess the question is, am I on the right track here or is the null Session object just a red herring, indicative of nothing relevant. Here's the check I have set up for reference.
I have an ImageButton programmed to open up a new window with a small onclientclick javascript routine. But, when the ImageButton is clicked, the page containing the button reloads too, causing both a delay and loss of position on the page. I don't need the page to reload, just the new window to open.
I am using GeoMap in my website, and GeoMap is little below in Web Page.I am using filters in GeoMap, i.e., when user selects any station and clicks on "button", all the locations related to selection shows in GeoMap. But everytime when I filter and click on button, page loads and scroll upward then again to see the filteration result in Geo Map, I had to scroll down my page.I want that when I filter any station and click on button, page should stick to that GeoMap section. It should not go upward until user scrolls the page.For this I tried using "Update panel" but then GeoMap javascript is not working.
Here's my Application_OnError event sink in global.asax.vb:
Sub Application_OnError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Dim innerMostException As Exception = getInnerMostException(Me.Context.Error) If TypeOf innerMostException Is AccessDeniedException Then Security.LogAccessDeniedOccurrence(DirectCast(innerMostException, AccessDeniedException)) Dim fourOhThree As Integer = DirectCast(HttpStatusCode.Forbidden, Integer) Throw New HttpException(fourOhThree, innerMostException.Message, innerMostException) End If End Sub
You'll see that if we've got an innermost Exception of type AccessDeniedException we throw a new HTTPExcpetion with a status code of 403 AKA 'forbidden'
So what we're expecting is a redirect to the AccessDenied.aspx page. What we get is a redirect to the ServerError.aspx page.
We've also tried this:
Sub Application_OnError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Dim innerMostException As Exception = getInnerMostException(Me.Context.Error) If TypeOf innerMostException Is AccessDeniedException Then Security.LogAccessDeniedOccurrence(DirectCast(innerMostException, AccessDeniedException)) Context.Response.StatusCode = DirectCast(HttpStatusCode.Forbidden, Integer) End If End Sub
I Am working on payment gateway integration, i am storing whole information about the transaction on page load event. so when i press refresh button then Duplicate data is again inserting in database So i want to stop this.
I want to do like
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { // Here I Am Using My Function For Insert Or Update Database } }
The subject says it all really. I have a DetailsView which inserts records into a SQL database. It works fine.
When I refresh the page (F5 for instance), I get a dialogue saying such action will resend the data. If I click OK here, the daa does indeed get sent again resilting in duplicate records in my database.
How can I stop data being resent if the page is refreshed?
In details.aspx i have datalist that have 3 lable and 1 image when i write this code in global.aspx
public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.Add("BikeSaleRoute", new Route ( "bikes/{Data}", new CustomRouteHandler("~/Details.aspx") )); }
When i type behtob.com/bikes/1111 in addressbar it go to details.aspx and show this page with datalist that fill from my db 3 lables and 1 image but when i write this code in my global.asax
public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.Add("BikeSaleRoute", new Route ( "{Data}/", new CustomRouteHandler("~/Details.aspx") )); }
I should type behtob.com/1111 in address bar it go to details.asax but in my datalist just show 3labales that i bind from db it didn't show image that i bind from DB what should i do? I want use second code.
I have a page, the user types in e-mail and then submits. The next page is a confirmed page - letting the user know that his -mail was entered. If you then click back, the forum will try to re-submit itself. Is there a way to stop this?
i have some textbox that i validate with a customvalidator control (only, and must be, server side function) and i have an imagebutton control for submit.I must stop the postback if there are some errors in the validation function.I set the validation property argumets.isvalid = false in the customvalidator function but doesn't work, the postback continue.i have tried to set the imagebutton property postbackurl = "" in the validation function but doesn't work.
I am writing a web application which consists of a master page (header / menus) which does not change and content pages. When I do something like click on a button it causes a post back which is correct but this redraws the whole screen and becomes annoying because every post back and the whole screen flickers.
I just wonder if there is a way HttpWebRequest can bypass redirection made by javascript?For example, I use HttpWebRequest to hit [URL]
[Code]....
Instead of getting redirected to the page: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx, with http return code of 302 before the redirect.I got the html of the page, with <noscript> part of: If this page does not automatically redirect, you have scripts disabled. The http return code was 200.I know that the reason why HttpWebRequest does not handle the redirect is because it does not execute scripts like a browser. So I just wonder if there is a way to do this without using a browser?
How to check using code whether http://domain.com has HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently status.When I get response of the url(http://google.com.pk) I get HTTP 200 ok status and in case of url (http://www.google.com.pk) again get HTTP 200 ok.I test with HTTP Status Codes Checker tool which gives the resulttp://google.com.pk - HTTP Status Code 301http://www.google.com.pk - HTTP Status Code 200
I have multiple sub-domains that use forms authentication. Once a user logs in, they are fine going to any of the other sub-domains.
Here is my problem: If I go to [URL], I get redirected to [URL]. After entering my credentials, I get redirected to [URL], which doesn't exist.
I have a work around but I would like to know if there is a cleaner way. What I do currently is set the loginUrl attribute of the forms element of the [URL]to be [URL]
Then, in the login.aspx code, after I've authenticated and set the cookie, I look to see if there was a domain variable passed in to the URL. If so, I prepend the returnUrl with the domain and do a simple redirect.
