Jan 21, 2010There are two web applications App1 & App2. A user would submit his information on App1 though a form. On click of a specific button/link on App1, the same data should be posted to a page on App2 and the user should also be redirected to the same page on App2.I would like some help in finding out the best way to implement this functionality.
One of the approaches that I have already tried out is by creating a temporary HTML form at runtime, setting the action attribute of the form to the App2 Page and get the form posted by using javascript submit. The data can then be fetched on App2 page by using the response.form object.This approach works well, but i was still wondering if there is any other way to implement the required functionality.
give some insights on using RESTful webservices to implement this, or else, using some HttpModule to intercept requests at App1 and modify redirect response to app2 or any other approach that you might find fit for the purpose.
Edit: Using querystring isnt an option for me.

BLL (Creating a Business Logic Layer) but they are Incomplete as the does not cover all the Tables.
The most Important tables in Northwind db are Orders & OrderDetails. Both the articles have nothing about them.
Implement Cross-session Data Controller Class?
Feb 24, 2011I am creating an ASP.NET application that allows users to edit and insert data that is persisted in a SQL Server database.I would like to implement a controller class that handles queries for certain entities, caches results and triggers events when data is inserted or updated.I need one of these controller classes for each entity in my data model.What I'm unsure of is how to create a singleton class of this sort that different user sessions can access.
For example,I have a Employee entity in my data model.I would like to have an EmployeeController class that handles retrieving the employees from the database, sends inserts and updates to the database,keeps a cache of all employees and triggers events when an employee is inserted or updated.Objects in other user sessions could then listen and respond to these events.
Am I on the right track?Should I be using the ASP.NET MVC framework to accomplish this?How do I instantiate these controller classes when the first user needs them and have subsequent concurrent users access the same class?
EDIT:I've been researching the idea of a controller class as an anti-pattern since @TomTom's answer.I'm not convinced one way or the other.I still need an answer to question #3 above.Let's just drop the specific idea of a controller class for now. How do I create any class that is:accessible by multiple user sessions,allows only one instance,is deleted if there are no user sessions,and triggers events that other classes can listen to.

Forms Data Controls :: Writing Values Backing Into The Database From The Gridview?
Jun 3, 2010i just cannot work this out... i have a gridview and when a user clicks on a row the checkbox unchecks itself... when the user clicks the row a sqldatasource.update is called from the selectedindexchanged event, problem is when it writes back to the database it writes back every checkbox as unchecked, i want just the row that's selected...
what i can't work out is i've tried putting a where clause in the sqlcommand which is something like where primarykeyID = gridview1.selectedvalue... now it won't write anything back to the database...!!!
... once i take out the where clause, it writes back to every row..!!

GET Request - Not Returning Pages / Implement The Webrequest Get And Post Methods
Jul 19, 2010I am trying to implement the webrequest get and post methods. I am accessing a secure site that requires login authentication and was told that instead of sending a login request all the time; login to the site and capture the cookie and use this to send it in the header to get results from the page. In other words let us use google for example. Lets say google required u to login before searching for something. Now I login through my browser and leave the site logged in. Now I send a httwebrequest from my program that includes the cookie authentication details in the request header and get results for say ?param=sports. Now when I increment the page number like &page=3, I am still only getting page 1 results.

Jan 27, 2010I'm trying to use WebParts and I'm about ready to pull my hair out due to a couple of issues:
1.) Whenever I open my page up in Firefox, the dropdown that holds the verbs is being rendered as a row of hyperlinks across the top of the title bar. Since I put in custom verbs, this makes a single part as wide as the page and look terrible. How do I fix this?
2.) Are there any resources out there that show how to restyle the chrome and the drop down list that has the verbs?

Jul 30, 2010I have an interesting issue I have racked my brain trying to find a solution to.
I have a site with a single master page. Part of that master page is a text field and button. They are not part of a content placeholder, they are simply part of the master page, itself, and are intended to allow people to search the site from any page on the site.
So, all search requests are routed to a search.aspx page, regardless. I am doing this by setting the PostBackUrl attribute of the button control to "search.aspx".
This all works great, except when I try to use this search capability from the search.aspx page, itself. I figure this is because I am using the Page.PreviousPage object and since a postback from the search.aspx page, itself will result in the Page.PreviousPage being Nothing, it is not performing the proper action.

Oct 25, 2010this exception is caused by entering scripts or disallowed text as "<script>", "<h1>" by the user. This exception will be thrown while processing the request.
After searching and trying, most of the solutions were to:
1- disable request validation in the page header (validateRequest="false") or in the pages section in web.config.
I dont see this is a solution, the XSS problem is still there, it just does not throw the exception.
2- To encode the text and decode it using Server.HtmlEncode and Server.HtmlDecode.
This is a good one, but have to go every single textbox and call this method (Server.Encode(txtAddress.Text)), but this require alot of effort to change the whole site, and some of them may be forgotten.
I was thinking of creating a new TextBox control (MyTextBox) to inherit from System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox and override the Text property, then Encode base.Text in the get accessor, and Decode base.Text in the set accessor.
This will also require to change the whole site, to use MyTextBox instead of TextBox.
