I want to backup my code regularly to the cloud. What's the cheapest and easiest way to do this for a single developer? I was thinking of running my code completely from a DropBox share (continuous synchronization with their free storage plan), which seem to meet the requirement of cheap and easy -
At current we have about 100 websites that we host, a lot of those are database drive, what i wanted to do is build a script that would let me enter the details for this website into a DB (domain name, ftp username, password, database name, username and password etc) and then download that website / database on a regular basis
I wanted to do this in .net so i could add it into our intranet and add some reporting so when our clients log into the extranet they can see their website has been copied etc
i just cannot work this out... i have a gridview and when a user clicks on a row the checkbox unchecks itself... when the user clicks the row a sqldatasource.update is called from the selectedindexchanged event, problem is when it writes back to the database it writes back every checkbox as unchecked, i want just the row that's selected...
what i can't work out is i've tried putting a where clause in the sqlcommand which is something like where primarykeyID = gridview1.selectedvalue... now it won't write anything back to the database...!!! ... once i take out the where clause, it writes back to every row..!!
I am new to cloud computing, so please bear with me here. I have an existing ASP.NET application with SQL Server 2008 hosted on a Virtual Private Server. Here's what it briefly does:The front end accepts user's requests and adds them to a DB tableA Windows Service running in the background picks up the request, processes it and sets a flag. The Windows Services also creates a file for the user to download
I cannot explain the functionality actually. I want to rotate the links in spheric form. Visit this [URL]. On this site, see the region "Chemical formulas" in middle-left of the page, where links are rotating in spheric, circular form. I want this functionality using jQuery / jQuery in ASP.net application.
I am planning to build a news publication website that should be automatically scalable when traffic is increasing. I have good experience in developing web applications using ASP.NET and PHP. To move forward on selection of specific technology here are some questions for which I need some clarifications.
My primary intention is to reduce the hosting charges. If we choose LAMP this will cost lower than ASP.NET on Windows. As my intention is to host web application on cloud service, will this make any difference? Means, for dedicated servers we need to pay extra cost for Windows O/S if you compare it with Linux. If we go for cloud servers, will they charge anything for O/S for each instance or will they just charge on computation hours irrespective of Operating System?
Do we have complete control (like dedicated server) on cloud instance to install any other softwares? Do we need to host web server and and database server on multiple instances when traffic is increasing or will a big size instance can handle huge traffic?
In my C# asp.net 3.5 application I am using RSS Feed to get current updates of my website. Its working fine and when we subscribe the feed also its updating the data as needed. Now our application is deployed in cloud. There also this RSS feed is opening and showing the data. But When I say Subscribe to this feed Its giving diagnose error page saying Normailization error occured and can not display the page. Let me know how to work with RSS feed in cloud environment.
I was used Repeater and DataList for this, but they don't show like that. When using DataList :
My code :
<asp:DataList ID="dtltag" runat="server" EnableViewState="False" RepeatDirection="Horizontal"> <ItemTemplate> <div class="tag"><a href='<%#Eval("tag","Paper.aspx?tag={0}")%>' ><%#Eval("tag")%></a></div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:DataList>I don't want limit my DataList with RepeatColumn , i want wrap tags when it necessary.Which control should I use?
I am currently building a web application that will involve many servers to get it to run efficiently. I am trying to test this web site at home and I have a few computers running the website. To connect to the website I would type this into the address bar http://192.168.0.200:8080 or I would typehttp://192.168.0.201:8080. However when I transfer my site from one computer to another the web browser can no longer read the cookies. I would like to set up a home DNS server and have the computers in my house access the site like this w1.MySite.com and w2.MySite.com instead of http://192.168.0.200:8080 or I would type http://192.168.0.201:8080 so I can test if my cookies are working accross subdomains. how to set up a local DNS server so I can do this?
Normally my application is working fine. After I host my asp application on IIS I get an exception "internal error", when I try to execute the below lines of code.
where CertificatePath = C:inetpubwwwroot......
X509Certificate2 cert = new X509Certificate2(CertificatePath, CertificatePassword); var serviceManagment = ServiceManagementHelper.CreateServiceManagementChannel(EndpointConfigurationName, cert); var listServices = serviceManagment.ListHostedServices(SubscriptionId);
I suppose the application is not able to read the IIS certificate.I am trying to connect to windows azure cloud for which the certificate is required to get list of hosted services from cloud.

I installed VS2010. Then The Azure toolkit. I created a new solution, with one webrole in it. I added 'HelloAzure' to the default.aspx, and then pressed f5 to run it.
It runs! I see my text 'HelloAzure' in IE8. Yeah!
Now, when I close IE8, it seems that VS2010 simply hangs, is frozen. It accepts no input from mouse/keyb. Nothing moves ... you know ... it hangs.
I am having a simple Azure cloud app(WebRole=ASP.Net MVC) which draws charts using ASP.Net Charting control. Chart RenderType = ImageMap Chart ImageLocation = "/Images/Chart_#SEQ(1000,1)" Number of app instances deployed on Windows Azure = 5 App contains a button which draws charts as per users parameters. When user clicks on this button, MVC action is called which provides necessary ViewData for drawing chart and returns a partial view which after getting rendered sends ImageMap and Image location to client.
When I try to draw charts from IE8 I always get the charts as per my parameters but when I simulataneously try to draw charts on FireFox sometimes I get wrong charts(wrong images). Is is due to roundrobin used - #SEQ(1000,1) or due to mutiple instances of my cloud app?
A picture is supposed to be worth a 1000 words, so let's see if that can shorten this post up a bit... Essentially, I'm looking into "how" to code a solution that runs on the web server within the cloud that will send a print command to a printer within office 1 (label printer).
The print job is really part of work flow within the ASP.NET web application and I would like to keep all of the code within a single application if possible. How can I go about doing this?
Due to security, I should avoid creating a new application within Office 1 that pulls data from the "cloud" and have the "cloud" be used to push the command downward. I'm really looking at this from a code standpoint within the ASP.NET app and also potentially transcending into more of a serverfault/superuser question on the printer. I'll save that for a future question there though.
If i've the button outside an update panel (basically i'm using RadAjaxPanel by Telerik) it is working fine. But when the button is inside an ajax panel, even if i click OK for deleting the records the server side code is not called.
I'm missing a the code browser when I create pages that have the code not placed in a seperate file. For pages with .asp.vb files I get the browser correctly.
I think it's called a code browser but just in case it's not I mean the dropdown that shows Page Events, Buttons and other controls that can be selected along with their events.
How do I turn on those dropdowns for pages with code behind that uses <script> tags in the actual .aspx page?
Included (Showing page events just under the tab):
Can the select command of a SqlDataSource be given by code in the code behind file. Also by calling the SqlDataSource.Select can the select statement be executed?
I have an asp.net button, that when clicked calls a code behind function. The function does some evaluation, and then I want to call javascript from within this asp.net function.
