View 15 Repliesi want to get the contents of a textbox and set them to a asp label for output, we can cause a postback to if that makes it easier, so far i did this and it comes up trumps

View 6 RepliesThe MasterPage displays the NavBar for every page of my site.
The NavBar is constructed from a SQL table using a CustomSiteMapProvider.
I need to pass information from the MasterPage to the CustomSiteMapProvider to get it to display the whole SiteMap or only part of it.
In the CustomSiteMapProvider class I have included a property:
Private vSiteMapID As String
<Personalizable(True)> _
<WebBrowsable(True)> _
Public Property SiteMapID() As String
[Code]....
But ViewState is either undefined or gives "reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference" if I import System.Web.UI.PageStatePersister.
I have a gridview on my page which i can export to excel. The download button is located on the masterpage and i set the visibility of the download button on the master page by using a property like below:masterpage
[Code]....
other page
[Code]....
this all works fine but now i need to somehow pass through the name of the gridview to export. So in my masterpage code behind i have this code which works if i put the button on the page but not if i have the button on the masterpage:
[Code]....
and the gvResults is on another page (not on the masterpage) so how do i pass through the gvResults from the page to the masterpage for downloading.
I work for a product manufacturer and we do not sell products directly to customers, distribution is through our dealer network. I'd like to provide our website visitors with a means to build a shopping cart and then pass the cart contents off to the dealer website of their choice.
The solution needs to be platform independent, even though I will be developing in ASP.net since our dealers' website platforms vary. I would assume most, if not all, do not have an existing API to interface with.
What do you think would be a good means of accomplishing this task?
I'm trying to write the contents of a TextBox to a file but can't seem to find the right method. Whats wrong with this code?
Dim FileName
As
HtmlGenericControl
= TryCast(DetailsView1.FindControl("TextBox2"),
HtmlGenericControl)
Dim newFilePath
As
String = Server.MapPath("/myXML/"
+ FileName.InnerHtml)
If I replace FileName.InnerHtml with "myXML.xml" it works.
After witnessing some strange behvior I'm confused about ViewState again :/
My understanding was a textbox needed to have "EnableViewState" set to true otherwise when the you postback the fields contents would disappear.
That's not happening, I created a textbox and button and a label.
The button was set to copy contents of text box into the label when I pressed it.
I did and the text was populated into the label and remained in the textbox?
This was inside an UpdatePanel and the page itself has a MasterPage, so that might have something to do with it, but I have about 50 textboxes on this page all with viewstate=true on, so I would really like to know what controls need to have enableViewstate=true in order o function properly.
I'd like my users to upload MS Word documents -- instead of typing the information in a TextBox. Even though I use tinyMCE -- like in this site, most users still seem to prefer the highly sophisticated Word environment.
My goal is to allow them to upload their Word documents which I then convert to HTML and place it in a tinyMCE enabled TextBox control. Has anyone implemented this? If so,
I have a code where I fill some random text into a textBox. In this example there is more content than the textBox can show so the vertical scrollbar is shown in the textBox.
I wonder if there is a way to adjust the height of the textBox instead automatically so all contents can be seen instead of seeing the scrollbars ?

i have used above code but is giving error

wt should i do
i have copied the above code as it is .
Here's a bit of the code.

I'm trying to get the value of a textbox using the PreviousPage method and the previous page utilizes a MasterPage for the page's layout. I've read through many forums laying out the ground work on how to do this, but for whatever reason I am just being unsucessfull in getting this to work in my project.
Mark-up of previous page using a master page template:
[Code]....
VB Code-behind page for second page:
[Code]....
What really confuses me is that when I step through the code it goes all the way through the if statement but never gets the text value from the previous page.
I built a master page, then i am using it .aspx pages. When i put a button or textbox inside the contentplaceholder, button and textbox didnt work. Forexample when i run the project ,i am writing something inside textbox, but i didnt get anything. It shows me empty.Dropdownlist is working, link button is working but textbox and botton are not working.
View 8 RepliesI have an email contact form that I have successfully populated the account users Username and email address into text boxes
I also use a text box and session variables to send parameters to a stored procedure and return a single row result in a form view.
The thing I am having an incredibly hard time figuring out is how to populate a single textbox with the data from any of those fields. or the whole control as a single summary.
Just for starters I am actually an IT Manager and NOT a coder so this is entirely a hack job if there ever was one...
here is my aspx code
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" MasterPageFile="~/RMSWeb.master" CodeFile="Service2.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>
I am having a slight issue with grabbing data from my masterpage into my content page (as a whole).
I have generated a public property for the my textbox and the contentpage can see this public property. But it comes across empty (even from within the masterpage). Now I guess the problem is with the property itself (possibly). It also shows as empty when I response.write it's value to the page.
Even when I call the value of the property in the masterpage it comes across as empty. The way I have this setup is that a textbox named pageTitleField has it's value updated from an iframe. All is working well and the textbox has its value updated correct upon iframe content changes. This is great. Now I just need to pass this textbox value into my content page and then set it as the document title.
see my code thus far.

I know the public property is being seen from the content page because if I just do a Response.Write(Master.GrabPageTitle) I see System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox appearing as the output of that property. So it appears hat the textbox value is not being captured in the public readonly property.
I have a 2 textbox and a checkbox in a Login View on my Master Page, have trouble making a FindControl that works.

Below is the URL and Code that I am using. I simply want to have whichever value that I give the barcode in the URL to show up in a text box on the aspx page. It sounds simple, but I am running in circles.

In my page I have a read-only TextBox that contains a rather large amount of text. I noticed that on postback this text is sent back to the server and validated, even though the client can never modify it. This seems silly; is there a way to disable this behavior?
View 3 RepliesI have a view with a textbox and a button. I want to take the textbox and take the contents of what a user types in and put it as a "Get" variable in the URL. Does anyone have a simple example of this? I want it to print into a url like this: /Profiles/Search?searchstring=hello
I am using razor built in mvc3 view
I have a logout button on the master page.
I have a textbox on my subpage.
When I click the text box i notice that the logout button on my master page gets focus. So if the user types something in the textbox and then presses enter/return (a common reaction it appears) the user inadvertantly logs themselves out as the logout button is triggered.
Is there any way of stopping this?
I have a TextBox using the AjaxControlToolkit's MaskedEditExtender, the extender is using the Date mask (99/99/9999). We had modified the toolkit code to support 2-digit year (as seen in this post) which works just fine when the date TextBox initially has no value. But when the date TextBox has an existing date such as 10/04/2010, if I type in say 100409, it becomes 10/04/0910, in other words it doesn't replace the existing year but simply replace the first 2 digits of the year. If I first hightlight the entire field then type then it works. My question is is there a way to hightlight the entire date value of the TextBox upon entering the field?
I tried using javascript code textbox.focus() and .selet() but it doesn't highlight anything, it just places the cursor at the beginning of the textbox.
I have few fields which when entered data by the user, they pass to the database and another webform called registration calls this values, there was an error in this when I looked into the registration form there was one field which was not showing up the data
then I looked into the database and found that the webform 1 is actually not passing the data of a field named "issuedate" to the database at all.
I posted the code for issue date can someone plzzz look at the code and tell me what could be wrong becoz I tried looking at this but couldnt understand what was happening HTML CODE FOR ISSUE DATE
