Styling A Button Using Javascript & OnClientClick?

Nov 11, 2010

I have an asp.net button on a web page.

The OnClientClick code disables the button so that the user cannot submit more than once. It also changes the text of the button to "Please wait..."

Trouble is, because it is getting disabled the "Please wait..." text looks rubbish... How can I style the button so that even though it is disabled, it looks enabled, within javascript.

<script type="text/javascript">
function btnSubmit_ClientClick(Client) {
var ok = Page_ClientValidate();
if (ok) {

How To Disable The Menu Control From Styling Itself In Javascript

Jun 19, 2010

I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and ASP.NET 4.0 to render a Menu control as an HTML list so I can style it using CSS. Here is the code I am using below

<asp:Menu ID="navlist" runat="server" Orientation="Horizontal"
SkipLinkText="" ClientIDMode="Static" DataSourceID="MenuSource"
MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels="0" IncludeStyleBlock="False"
StaticDisplayLevels="2">
</asp:Menu>

This produces the following HTML

[Code]....

At first glance this looks like exactly what I wanted. However, if I open up WebResource.axd there is a whole bunch of javascript code related to the menu. Part of this code is applying it's own inline styles to the list. Using FireBug I can view the HTML markup after the javascript has executed and it looks something like this:

[code]....

These inline styles ultimately affect the layout of my page. I have no need for any of the scripts in WebResource.axd. How can I prevent this script from being rendered in the final markup of the page?

JavaScript Function Doesn't Fire Because Of CSS Styling

Aug 20, 2012

I am creating a menu at runtime, containing this:

Code:
dividor3 = "<td onmouseover=""shomainlinks()"" style=""z-index:13001; font-weight:bold; width:10; vertical-align:center; color:rgb(180,30,40);"">»</td>"

The menu (there are other string components as well) is then added to a div as a literalcontrol.

Code:
<div id="mainlinks" class="tpsubmenu" runat="server" style="z-index:13000;"></div>

Everything works. But when I assign a css class to the div, the shomainlinks() function doesn't fire. Otherwise it does.

Code:
.tpsubmenu{position:absolute; display:none; width:300px; border:1px solid rgb(200,140,80); background-color:rgb(250,250,250);}

I should also tell you that I have another string, dividor4, identical but for the name of the function that does not have css styling, and that one works as it should.

Javascript - Difference Between Onclick() And OnClientClick()?

Jul 27, 2010

If I use both onclick() and onClientClick() can I make sure that server side will be called only after client side function returns TRUE or vice versa?

For example:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>
<%@ Import Namespace="System.Xml" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<%
protected void save_n_display(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
// This must be called when validate() returns true...
}
%>
<asp:Button ID="Button1" OnClientClick="validate()" onClick="save_n _display" "Text="Check" runat="server" />
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
function validate() // client side Validation is done
{
}
</script>

So can I use onclick() and onClientClick() or do I need something different for this? I even tried passing variables from javascript to asp functions so when validate returns true then save_n _display will be called.

C# - OnClientClick And Click Event Together For A Button Is Not Firing?

Feb 21, 2011

I have Onclientclick event attached to the button in serverside code like below,TopPanelButton.OnClientClick = string.Format("if(!ValidData({0},{1},{2},{3})) return false;", txtOD.ClientID, radCmbOD.ClientID, txtgetMe.ClientID, RadAjaxLoadingPanel1.ClientID);Also, the onClick event is attached for the same button in the aspx page,

<asp:Button ID="TopPanelButton" runat="server" Text="Go"
CssClass="CBtn1" Width="30px" Height="21px" OnClick="TopPanelButton_Click" />

The serverside click event should fire if the onclientclick return true. The "ValidateData()" function is called to validate the entries in the form.This code is working fine in IE. But in Firefox, both events are not firig. If I comment the "TopPanelButton.OnClientClick =..." code then onClick event is firing.

Web Forms :: OnClientClick - How To Generate Neat HTML / JavaScript Code

Jan 28, 2011

I have a page with a control like this:

<asp:Button ID="test" runat="server" Text="test" OnClientClick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/bezichtigingsform/deeplink')" />
The OnClientClick-attribute is rendered as:
onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/bezichtigingsform/deeplink')"

When I try to escape the single-quote like this "'" or with a double backslash preceeding the single quote, this does not work. I also tried it like this:

string str = "pageTracker._trackPageview('/bezichtigingsform/deeplink'";
test.Attributes.Add("onclick", str.Replace("'", "\'"));

and of-course I tried all possible escaping-combinations in the above too.

It seems like asp.net just encodes the value, but how can I stop this? I want to be able to generate neat html/javascript-code...

Gridview ItemTemplate OnClientClick Javascript Function With DataItem Value As Parameter?

Aug 13, 2010

I have a button inside my <ItemTemplate> in GridView and I want to call a javascript function on the OnClientClick of that button passing the DataItem value as a parameter of the javascript function

[code]....

If I will not put a parameter in CreateEditAddess() this works well but I need the parameter.

I know I can put the OnClientClick event value in OnRowDataBound event of the gridview but I don't want to put it in CodeBehind. It seems like the server tag is not parsed correctly.

Forms Data Controls :: Button In GridView - OnClientClick Versus CommandName Postback

Oct 20, 2010

I have a GridView with a couple of buttons (asp:Button) in it (last row). Both of them have a CommandName attribute on them and this is handled server side in a grid_RowCommand event handler. Now, this works fine. However, I need to add client side code (Javascript/jQuery) to disable the two buttons when someone clicks on or the other. This is to prevent the user from double-clicking and creating potential havoc.

The way I have done this is by adding OnClientClick on both buttons which calls a javascript function that uses jQuery to disable the two buttons. This works fine, it's just that the page doesn't post back and so the RowCommand event handler never fires.
