Web Forms :: RewritePath In The Pages Load-event?
Dec 26, 2010
Is it possible to do RewritePath in the pages load-event? I call the method, but nothing happens.. The original path is served.. The method fires, coz when I rewrite the path to something that gives an error, the error is fired

I have a problem to rewrite url using RewritePath method.
Code implementation as below.
Class
[Code]....
Page code
[Code]....
Web.config file setting
[Code]....
Now, when I call URL like http://localhost:1404/SampleSite/test then its working and rewrite to the rewrite.aspx page. but when I click on button event then URL is changed to original path like as http://localhost:1404/SampleSite/rewrite.aspx
On button click event, page is just post back. whenever page is post back, URL is changed to its original page. I want URL as it is calling like as http://localhost:1404/SampleSite/test

I am trying to load two pages in two different windows (at the same time). I have three pages in my application
1) Login.aspx
2) TakeOrder.aspx
3) OrderSummary.aspx
When application is executed, user is presented with Login.aspx page. If the user is authenticated, I want TakeOrder.aspx and OrderSummary.aspx to load in two different windows.
TakeOrder.aspx is used to take orders and OrderSummary.aspx shows the summary of the orders which have been placed since morning.
I can put a button on TakeOrder.aspx to redirect to OrderSummary.aspx (but such logic is not allowed by the client).
Also when the user takes an order (I will add the order to th database), I want to refresh ( do postback) OrderSummary.aspx to show newly placed order for e.g.
OrderSummary.aspx is showing "n" orders, now the user takes an order "x", I want OrderSuammyry.aspx page to show "n+1" orders (including order "x")

I am using a third party gateway. The third party gateway does not support query-string , so i will need to post the form to pass the values to the given URL and another thing is that they don't expose the web-services so we need to use their page and that means we need to host it in an iframe in asp.net
so what i did is that i have hidden fields that will be used as parameters as depicted below
Code:
<input type="hidden" name="p1" value='4635' />
<input type="hidden" name="p2" value='Reference_test' />
<input type="hidden" name="p3" value='Purchase credits' />
[Code]..
Now the purpose of this , is to load the iframe after the page load event of the asp.net gets fired.
Now my problem here is that when the iframe loads , it does not pass the parameters to the url that is being set in the iframe.
I have attached the example, project. (2kb)
When you run the project you will notice when the iframe loads there is an Error
"NO VCS ID"
now this means that the parameters were not passed when the Iframe loads , i can understand because it seems like iframe does not do a full form post. so to demonstrate what i want, click the proceed button and you will notice it will give you a page with no errors and it will be a page where credit card details are required , i want to iframe to load that the first time.

I have a URL that is generated in the code-behind when a submit button is clicked. After processing is completed, I would like that URL to open in a new page and then open a static page with target=_top at the same time. Is this possible? I took a few stabs at it with Javascript with no success.

I am working on a web app which makes use of a 3rd party HttpModule that performs url rewriting. I want to know if there's any way to determine the original url later on in Application_BeginRequest event. For example...
Original url: [URL] Re-written url (from 3rd party httpmodule): [URL] In the past I have written HttpModules that store the original url in HttpContext.Items but, this is a 3rd party app and I have no way of doing that.

I'm developing a custom URL Rewriter for a ASP.Net 3.5 project. This rewriter is not functionally different than most rewriters out there, the only difference being that the friendly URL collection is not loaded from a web.config file -- it's coming from a database instead. I made the naive assumption that it would be easy to develop a custom rewriter module from scratch, but now I know the mess I put myself in. I digress; let's go straight to the technical issues.
While testing the rewriter, I set up a friendly url that would take the user to a web form. Postbacks from this form should not alter the friendly address, as anyone would expect, sohttp://my.web.site/app_root/FriendlyURL is always rewritten asttp://my.web.site/app_root/not_friendly/form.aspxThings are fine when the browser first loads the FriendlyURL. The page comes up and is completely functional. However, when the form is posted back to the server, the page simply reloads but, at server-side, IsPostBack is false. It's like F5 was hit, except that a HTTP POST had indeed occurred.Unsurprisingly, when the interaction occurs through the "unfriendly" URL, the POST action triggers the postback as expected. This evidence suggests that HttpContext.RewritePath is somehow messing with the page lifecycle in a way that it loses sense of the postback operation.

I've been working on this problem for some time without success. We have this website that has been working for many years now and we have been using cookieless sessions since the begining. Now we are integrating with another site to handle payment throught redirection. This provider ask for two adresses for success or failure of a payment so we have something like [URL] and [URL]. For design purpose thoses two pages do not exists and I use an httpModule to route to the proper page. I use httpApplication.Context.RewritePath to send to the proper page but I can never find back the session my user had before redirecting to the payment provider.
If I change the session mecanism to use cookies (cookieless="false" or cookieless="UseUri") with a few other tweaks, everything works fine Does anybody know if this has a chance to work? Is there a way to re-attach to an existing session?

Why if I create a label on the load() event its properties are restored after a postback, even though it doesn't pass through the loadviestate stage?
Example:[Code]....
And why everybody advice to create controls in the overrides of the method LoadViewState(), if it's ok also in the load() event?

Usually when we create an aspx page and then open the aspx.cs page we can see a protected void page_load().So my question is why that should be protected in default.Can we give other access modifiers.

So i'm new to AJAX and just installed the AJAX toolkit.
When i have tried to used any of the object there my page are really slow, it like the server is forever to compile the site and when that is done the browser shows it in a flash.
You can see here :
[URL]
This is not a problem when using only ASP.NET.
When i debug in VS2008 i can see that is looking for some random files when compiling like C:AjaxBuildAjaxServerAjaxControlToolkitToolkitScriptManagerToolkitScriptManager.cs and alot of other stuff, it goes through alot of setting there and i think that is the hold up, why it's so slow.
I have Sp1 installed, running Windows 7 64bit.
These pages are very small and standard. I basicly drag a toolkitscriptmanager, htmleditor, textbox and two buttons to the form. There isnt more.
This is the code for the first page :
[Code]....
The host has AJAX support and has installed SP1 for .NET.

I have a page called "EDIT.ASPX" on that page it has come TextBoxes, Label and 3 User Controls. When the Edit.aspx page is loaded all the correction form Controls are loaded properly, even the User Controls loads with no problem. The problem that I am expericing is that on the User Control I have a CHECKBOX with AutoPostBack="true". Each time the user click the CheckBox the User Control disappear. NOTE: How do I fix this problem and eliminate my page control from vanshing. The user control needs to keep the same state as the Edit.aspx page when the checkbox is clicked. I need to be able to click the checkbox without loosing any data on the page rather it's the Edit Page or the User Control.
