I have a table that I save swf file in it. I want to show swf files in a page, I read them from database with their ID. I use from flashcontrol and set MovieUrl for it. I want to know is it a good solution or not? This is my code.

I am using Media Player Control to play a video file(.mpg). The video file can be played ok when I specify an absolute URL value (something llike C:UsersMyFilesMyVideoTestVideo.mpg) for the MovieURL property . Anyway when I set a relative URL value like ./TestVideo.mpg (the format follows an example from some tutorial) for the MovieURL property, the video file cannot by played.

View 3 RepliesThe problem is this: I am writing a system to show helptexts on certain labels. So in the PageLoad I recursively iterate all controls and save those with a certain tag. So far so good.
On the PreRenderComplete I iterate the controls and set their text property. The strange this is that the labels in ItemTemplate don't get the new text. The PreRenderComplete fires after the DataBound event of the gridview, the label gets found perfectly, in the end it has the new text, but in the page it's still the old text.
I hope I don't need the Row_Databinding event of the gridview, since I want to put all the functionality in an extender class with as little custom work as possible.

Our site as it exists now utilizes only the bin file. We are going to re-migrate our site to use the .cs files to compile on the fly. What settings do I need to set to allow for this and what disadvantages if any are there for using the .cs files in prod?

I followed [URL] PROBLEM: I tried it in WPF application and it worked. Then i used the same code in ASP.NET WebForms website and it works for pictures but doest not work for videos. I also tried the same in clean console application but it doesn't work as well. But in wpf it works! the same assembly. Assembly is from Window 7, but neither WinXp's Interop.Shell32.dll works for videos in websites. It throws an exception NotImplementedException whenn I call IExtractImage.Extract(ref IntPtr phBmpThumbnail); Can you explain this behaviour? [URL]

I have figured out a method for displaying a modal popup using the ACT ModalPopupExtender from the server side.This is really important because there is a fair amount of server side initialization that I require prior to showing the dialog.
Basically, I assign a dummybutton as the TargetControlID. Then I define a link button such that when clicked it fires an OnClick event. The handler then does whatever initialization is necessary and uses the show() method of the ModalPopupExtender. This is not rocket science. However, what appears to be rocket science is getting a control within the MPE to get the cursor focus. The problem as I see it is that because I am manually showing the dialog, the JS add_shown function never fires. Of course the add_shown function is attached through JS by using the behavior ID of the MPE. It appears to be the standard way to set focus within a MPE dialog. It appears to only work if the targetcontrolid is a real button that shows the MPE dialog when clicked.
Is it possible to set the focus within a MPE dialog when you are programatically showing the dialog and not attaching a real button press event to the MPE Target Control ID? Obviously the Page.SetFocus or Control.Focus() do not work either before or after the modal dialog is shown:

View 1 RepliesIs there any easy way to set properties of a Page (or UserControl for that matter) from *within itself*?As an example, I have several .aspx pages which inherit from exactly the same code-behind class, but I need to be able to pass different properties to the class to make them do the correct thing for the specific .aspx.
The only way I've found to do this is to create the following - which works fine, but doesn't feel right....

I have a title in my master page, say, "I am master". In my content page, in the page_load event, I change it to:Me.Title = Me.Master.Page.Title & ", I am content"So I expect the title to be "I am master, I am content". However, it just shows ", I am content". This has been working so far.

View 5 RepliesI have a solution that I pasted some files into. The files that were pasted into it won't show up in the solution explorer. These files are for a tutorial from MSDN. The files were pasted into the folder that contains the solution using the file system.I then refreshed the solution explorer to include the files. I've done this before with out issue. For some reason it won't work this time. When I did this before I pasted the files into the folder that holds the solution, refreshed the solution explorer and then had to include the files into the project and all was good.
View 4 RepliesAs I understand it, I should be able to change an aspx file in VS, update in the browser and then see the changes without rebuilding the entire solution. For me thats not the case...
Edit: I use VS 2008, .NET 3.5 and development server. It is a Web Application project and I always need to rebuild to see the changes in the aspx files. I use master pages and aspx controls. I use edit and continue and have no problem updating the code behind files without rebuilding.
I'm using a CMS, which removes my ability to access the actual Page, I can only program Master pages. I need to set the Async property of the @Page directive on a particular page, but can't figure out how to do so from the Master page.

We are going to be updating the general pages to check the users job title to help customize the pages for them. Is it possible to add the code we are going to use to set the sessions to the master page of the general section and have it set the sessions. Or will i have to update each page individually with the logic and handle each page seperatly?
I have another post asking for help on setting the sessions, but once that is done, i'd like to know if adding that code to the master page will accomplish what i want, by just having it in one place and easier to maintain. Or will i have to add the code to each page i want to check the session values...

I have already explored different options i.e. silverlight, Windows media services & flash player Among these three silverlight is discarded as there very few browsers having that plug in.
From the master page of my ASP.NET site I need to set the value of a hidden field in every get and post request and then subsequently read it in the next request.The problem is that in the post request the code works fine but when the client sends a get request I am unable to read the value of the hidden field from teh Master Page. Is the hidden field the proper approach to this and if so how do I read the value set in the hidden field in the subsequent get request. If the hidden field is not the proper approach for this then what else should I use?

On page load , only the div1 will be visible. On clicking a button inside it the div1 is made to invisible and the second div- div2 is made visible.
At the page load , i want to make the button inside the div1 to be the default one. On its click i want to make the button inside the div2 to be the default one .How can i do that?
