I am experiencing the following page error when trying to use the FileUpload control on my web page to upload files larger than 3MB or so. The error is as follows:"Problem loading page The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."I suspect this may be due to a timout issue. If so, how can I increase the timeout period for this control / process? I am coding in VB.NET.

I am using the fileupload control to upload an excel file to a server, but I am getting a
"Access to the path '\<server>importResponses.xls' is denied" when I try to use fileUploader.SaveAs(filepath). The filepath I use is \<server>importResponses.xls, so I am actually saving it to a share on a different server.My environment consists of a web server and a database server. I am trying to upload the excel file to a share on the database server. A stored procedure then takes that excel file and imports the data from it into a table. So the problem isn't with being unable to save a file to a share on the web server, but it's a problem with being unable to save a file to a share on the database server. It used to work, but now it doesn't and I have no idea why. What process(es) on the database server do I need grant write access for in order for the fileupload control to successfully save the excel file?Right now, I only have the Network Service account with read/write access to the share on the database server. I tried adding other accounts, such as the ASPNET and IUSR_<server name> accounts, but nothing seems to work.The web application that does the actual uploading is configured like this:
<authentication mode="Windows"/>
<identity impersonate="true"/>
Could that have anything to do with it?If you're asking why I'm trying to save an excel file on the database server instead of on the web server, this was the only way I got this to work. If anyone has a better suggestion on how to programatically import excel data into a SQL table, I am all ears.

In my application Im saving multiple files(image,pdf,txt) to a folder. Suppose I have an image with name "image1", if this image already exists in the folder and if another user tries to add another image with the same name "image1" then, it should give message to change the File name.
I had used below code:
string filePath = DamRep_FileUpload.PostedFile.FileName;
string filename = Path.GetFileName(filePath);
string contenttype = String.Empty;
if (contenttype != String.Empty)
{
if (File.Exists("~/FTP/File/"))

When uploading a new DLL for a large web application (dll is around 1mb) IIS throws an error because the DLL is 'in-use', meaning the website is down while the DLL is being uploaded. Is there a way to stop this behaviour?
Also, although I am using Web Applications, not Web Sites, whenever I upload a new DLL it still takes a while for IIS to restart after a fresh upload. I thought this wait was generally only for websites as they need to be compiled by IIS, not Web Applications?

Hopefully someone can give me some pointers to get this working properly.
I have a webpage which I would like the ability to upload files to be stored in a database. Here's the layout of the page:
[code]....
The update panel is configured as such:
ChildrenAsTriggers="True" EnableViewState="True" RenderMode="Block" UpdateMode="Always" Visible="True" Runat="Server"
The reason I have the update panel outside the Tabcontainer is so that when switching between tabs, the screen doesn't flicker with refreshes, etc. But as a result, I can't get the FileUpload working properly. The FileUpload1.Filename is blank, so it errors out.
Is there anyway to get this working properly? I've tried the latest AsyncFileupload within the control toolkit, but this caused all kinds of problems with my pages so that's out of the question. I tried an iFrame too, but this also didnt work properly.

I am trying to make a web application which copies the existing functionality of a windows forms application using Visual Studio 2003. This windows application takes multiple (I am talking at least 30) text files and joins them together into one text file which can then be feed into a Mainframe system in the correct format. I have written web applications before that uploads images and pdfs but the key thing is it was always only one or two files at a time, so this was easy to do with the HTML fileupload control.
What I want to do is to be able to open a directory on the local computer and either automatically, or give the user the chance to multi select (I dont think this is possible) all of the 30 or so files they wish to upload. Once its been uploaded I can do the processing to join the files and create my new one etc. All the examples I have seen on the web, you have to select the files one by one to add to a list box and then they can all be uploaded but this wont be acceptable to my users...

I have a Web application in which I'm trying to use the new AJAX AsyncFileUpload control. I want to use it in the ModalPopupExtender, and I want to embed these two AJAX controls in a user control (photo_upload.ascx) for re-use in different parts of the application. (I understand that this wasn't possible with the older FileUpload control but that it is with this most recent AJAX tool.)
Presently, I merely redirect the user to an upload.aspx page that includes the photo_upload.ascx control (see the sequential screenshots in the attached image); but while this way of doing things "works," it becomes very confusing for the user who has already clicked an upload button or two. In other words, when the "Add Yours" button is clicked, the panel with the "(1) Upload Photo" button unhides; and when the Upload Photo button is then clicked, the user is redirected to the control in the bottom screen. I would gladly bypass the 1, 2, 3 steps in the second screen after the "Add Yours" button is clicked and redirect straightway to the upload control (in the bottom screen, which I will like to be in a ModalPopupExtender), but I also need a way for them to enter a caption that will go with the uploaded photo.
(image removed)
My VB code for the above steps is included below. I would appreciate any fresh ideas on how to accomplish my above objectives.

I need to upload files from one site to another and I thought about using the WebClient class and FileUpload method from the System.Net namespace. I read the MSDN documentation and it seems an easy task to achieve but something is going on wrong. For now, I am only testing with the following simple code to upload a file to a test web server in our office which uses HTTP port 8080 instead of 80:
[Code]....
The code above issues the following exception: "The remote server returned an error: (404) No Found." I have made sure that both paths are correct.
Also, does the UploadFile method saves the file physically in the hard disk (I suppose so) or does it load it into the server's memory?
