View 14 RepliesUsing Visual WebDeveloper 2010 Express and ASP.NET 4.0 don't know whether its relevant but the whole thing is in a ContentPlaceHolder and inside an UpdatePanel. To avoid using the old table tr td model, I have created a simple form like this
<div class="admin-form">
<asp:Label ID="UserNameLabel" runat="server"
CssClass="form-label"
Text="User Name" />
<asp:TextBox ID="UserNameText" runat="server"
Width="200px"/>
<br />
<asp:Label ID="PasswordLabel" runat="server"
CssClass="form-label"
Text="Password" />
<asp:TextBox ID="PasswordText" runat="server"
TextMode="Password"
Width="200px"/>
<br />
<asp:Label ID="ConfirmPasswordLabel" runat="server"
CssClass="form-label"
Text="Confirm Password" />
<asp:TextBox ID="ConfirmPasswordText" runat="server"
TextMode="Password"
Width="200px"/>
<br />
<asp:Label ID="EmailLabel" runat="server"
CssClass="form-label"
Text="Email" />
<asp:TextBox ID="EmailText" runat="server"
Width="200px"/>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span class="form-label"></span>
<asp:Button ID="CreateUserButton" runat="server"
CssClass="button blue"
Text="Create New User"/>
</div>
And the CSS
.form-label
{
width: 300px !important;
}
This renders incorrectly as I would like to have all textboxes vertically lined after taking 300px. What is wrong? I cannot use HTML Controls like label as I have resx for globalization
I created a database with ID, Title, Content, Date, ImgLnks, Image and Imagecaption and i'm using ObjectDataSource to populate the data. The field "ImgLnks" displays a new blank window with URL. This column is entered as text, inserted into the database and displays as clickable link in the gridview. My question is, is there a way that I can put an Alternative Standard Text in this column instead of displaying the clickable link like [URL] etc.? Text like, "Visit Page".
View 4 RepliesDid you have any issue to show background images in a gridview with IIS 7. I've exactly applied this [URL] and I've no idea why, my css works for the header but not for:
PagerStyle-CssClass="pgr"
AlternatingRowStyle-CssClass="alt"
The alternative row has no background image and the pager too but it works for the header. But when I browse the website online from my laptop, without IIS it works fine. When I check web developer tools from i.e., I've the backround image written in the css so it should come up.
data the exporting from grid to excel sheet correctly but the alternative row style color is crossing the boundries of excel sheet from right side.
View 1 RepliesGridview has problems in an updatepanel. So i was thinking if there is an alternative for preventing postbacks with the gridview.
View 15 RepliesIn a gridview, how does one create/add more than one button where each does something different?
I need 3 buttons for each row in a gridview.
Each will open a different target page/url when clicked on. I've done this in classic asp but how does one do it in asp.net using gridview? Or should I be doing something else? Maybe a repeater or some other control? I would need sorting and paging too.
I am trying to duplicate the functionality of this classic asp application I created years ago:
[URL]
Search for street name="oaK"
The results of the search is what I need to duplicate in asp.net.
I have the basics done but can't figure out how to make additional buttons in the gridview of the results do different things in this asp.net application:
[URL]
What is the proper alternative to Gridview in ASP.NET? By proper I mean highly customizable, css and JQuery friendly.
View 1 RepliesThere is a AlternateText property in image-buttons so that while hovering mouse on image buttons, alternate text could clarify the functionality of the button. I want to do so with ASP.net standard gridview and show a text while mouse being stopped on buttonfield button that I've added to my gridview. But such a property does not exist and my searches using Intellisense reached nowhere.
View 1 RepliesI have been using Gridviews throughout a website I am currently building, however one particular requirement is to display two tables side-by-side that butt up against each other for the purposes of data entry. One person inputs numerous entries on the LH table whilst a different person will respond to one or more rows in any particular order (ie row 2 may addressed but row 1 might stay blank for a period of days). As far as I am aware, a GridView (or two) won't suit this requirement for the reason (from my still new understanding of GridViews) of not providing the ability for a 'respondee' to address any row in any particular order. Whilst I could add a button to each GriView row which displays a detailsView/FormView horizontally in line, I would still have to populate the Gridview with empty rows for those rows not addressed plus this 'fudging' just doesn't bode well concerning DB management.
It just seems adding two asp tables side by side then somehow working out how to automatically present a new row for data entry for the left hand table and creating a second table being the same size as the first (according to its number of rows) would be the way to go, then the task of data gathering/uploading to the DB. How best address the requirement - there maybe better ways for facilitating data input as opposed to using side-by-side controls, however it is the clients request. Also I don't want to go expelling copious amounts of time to fully customize a gridview when simply creating some sort of dynamic table would be sooo much quicker and easier for this once off. I have tried some searching, however not knowing where to start is problematic as 99% Google results return GridViews (as you would expect).
In my Application I am using one Modal popup extender. I have one Grid View with Item Template containing Link button. I want to set Target Control Id of Popup extender to link Button of the Item Template. As it is inside the Item Template I can not access it directly in the page.
So Is there any alternative to achieve the same functionality.
a good alternative to ComponentGo's Web Scheduler.http://componentgo.comTelerik have a calendar control but it doesn't provide the functionality i'm looking for.The control will be used to schedule peoples work shifts for the different roles in the company, and needs to provide a day view and week view.
View 2 RepliesWorking with a client and there ever changing requirements can be a big pain. I find myself in a similar situation.I have a Multi-Select ListBox with current size set to 4. The client, in UAT, while experimenting realized that he would have to scroll to find a listed entry at possition 9. He has raised a concern for having to scroll to find an entry. We have 7 such ListBoxes.We thought of the following solutions and could not implement due to:1. Expanding the SIZE - The list entries are variable and may/will increase in future.2. Searching - This will introduce additional refreshing of page and increase the complexity.Can any suggest a solution that would not include any major changes to the existing setup, maintaining the simplicity of the page?
View 4 RepliesI have an existing website using forms authentication with Sql provider. Now i am trying to integrate with another website and use their authentication mechanism. I am already able to validate a user and trying to silently login the user into my application. Here is the code for "silent" login:
[code]...
and it works with the exception that Forms Authentication overrides the HttpContext.Current.User by the time i make it "default.aspx". Is there a way to bypass forms role and membership providers?
I have a VS2008 / C# app with about 30 web pages. All of them access a central Master Page and it works well.
I now have a new page to create which will have many, many sub-pages. The hierarchy will look like this:
Master Page
Web Page
Sub Page 1
Sub Page 2
. . .
Sub Page N
Doing a lot of reading, apparently I can turn the "Web Page" into a nested Master Page and then each Sub Page would become a Web Content Form. Just wondering, is this the ONLY approach I have available to accomplish this? Or are there other options?
I am trying to rewrite an Access Database in to a asp.net front end and i have hit an issue that i can not find a good way round.
in the access version of the software there is a screen the displays all cusotmers and invoice information about these customers, there are currently 15 columns on the screen and we currently have around 25K customers and this will only go up. This is done using a multi column listbox i need to replicate this screen in asp.net but i spent all day on this on as yet not found a good way of do this.
the user will need the ability to select multiple customers at a time and because of the amount of data a scroll bar is a must, this is why the listbox is an ideal tool, apart from the fact the standard one in asp.net does not allow multi columns. grid lines would also be useful. I have look at a few third party multi column multi column list boxes but the only one that i have found that seems to work OBOUT's takes far to long to render 25K rows.
I have user control page (.acsx file), which has following
<form action=abcd.aspx id="safsdf">
<input name="q" type="text" value="Search this site" size="13" onfocus="this.value='';"/> //this is input box
<input type="submit" name="sa" value="Submit" />
//this is input button </form>
When user click on submit button, then it postback to same page. I have another page , which reference to this user control and that is why multiple <form> tag appears on one single page and it cause my webpage to layout incorrectly. I would like to remove <form> tag from my above user control and replace with some other alternative, which does postback to same page without using <form> tag on user control (I have to remove <form> tag from user control because I must keep my <form> tag on other page).
I have various ASPX input forms, using tables, with lots of 28px-wide textboxes arranged in columns. They look perfect in IE7 and IE8 but in Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera the textboxes display approximately 5 times as wide, resulting in text wrapping and generally screwing up the nice appearance of the forms. Very irritating after all the work I did to make them look professional in IE8!
Is there a way of coding the forms to stop this happening amd make them look more or less identical in all the major browsers?
I am creating sample application for master page layout, it contain three parts as follows
1. Header
2. Content
3. Footer
and wanted header and footer will be static content in web page.(Content will be scrollable)
For that I have found one solution in HTML (frameset and frame) but I am looking for pure ASP.NET solution.
So question is, Is there any alternative present in ASP.NET?
Is that any multiview alternative? I am doing a project that have to load the data in to a content space. Right now I am using the multiview provide by asp + using ajax.net. but it seem like very heavy when I load that page. So is that have any alternative to doing this? I have a concept that like using the load php funtion calling~is that applyable in asp.net? I am new in coding~ the effect I want to do is just like the user profile page on [URL] by clicking the button list change it content without reload the whole page.
View 4 RepliesI stumbled into a problem which is that FindControl will only return a control in the ListView after the listview has been databound. Here is the code which is not working, and I'm getting the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object error" when I try to add the attribute to the control:
[Code]....
Any ideas on how I can elegantly fix this?
I have a ListView control that might be empty sometimes. I would like to show a text message like: "No items to Show" when the ListView is empty.
I have read the FAQ of this forum. This issue is not there.
my main intention is that, the exsisting table of sql server database(.dbo) with 1000's of records, that should be import to a new access database table(.mdb).for example if we want to had a new table in db2, of exsisting table in db1 with some conditions by using "select * into New_Tabel from (select * from Exsisting_Table where <Condition>) as objectName". Here the new table is created and records inserted in one execution in db2. The same work should be done for access(sqlserver db --> Access db).Here the new access database table with given name (as string_sysdate) must be created dynamically by clicking a button (multiples time creating new table).Is there any query or c# code for sql server database to access database.
