View 15 RepliesI have been using asp.net programming just from few months and I have to maintain an application that is made up of many aspx webforms with updatepanels.One of the task of the maintenance is to integrate some of the JQueryUI widgets (mostly datepicker, tabs and buttons).I am experiencing some problems on doing this smoothly expecially when the controls are Inside an update panel Generally inside any templated control (e.g. Wizard control)
For example this very simple code:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#myTabs").tabs();
[code]...
will immediately cease to work if placed inside an update panel.Do there is a solution regarding this issue or I have to follow a completely differnt approach? Do I have to substitute all the updatepanels?And what is the best alternative to this easy to use control?
I want to populate the information into a table from a data source. I don't want to use a grid view. How do I do this?
View 14 RepliesIn a gridview, how does one create/add more than one button where each does something different?
I need 3 buttons for each row in a gridview.
Each will open a different target page/url when clicked on. I've done this in classic asp but how does one do it in asp.net using gridview? Or should I be doing something else? Maybe a repeater or some other control? I would need sorting and paging too.
I am trying to duplicate the functionality of this classic asp application I created years ago:
[URL]
Search for street name="oaK"
The results of the search is what I need to duplicate in asp.net.
I have the basics done but can't figure out how to make additional buttons in the gridview of the results do different things in this asp.net application:
[URL]
What is the proper alternative to Gridview in ASP.NET? By proper I mean highly customizable, css and JQuery friendly.
View 1 RepliesThere is a AlternateText property in image-buttons so that while hovering mouse on image buttons, alternate text could clarify the functionality of the button. I want to do so with ASP.net standard gridview and show a text while mouse being stopped on buttonfield button that I've added to my gridview. But such a property does not exist and my searches using Intellisense reached nowhere.
View 1 RepliesI have a page that has a updatepanel around a gridview control that is within my modalpopup. So you land on the page, there is a link that when clicked will open the model popup. Initially the gridview merely displayed saved records you personally choseto save, well when you selected one, the popup would close and the data from that row would be passed to the gridview within the page to display details.. no issue when it was setup that way.. well eventually it was decided to add a delete option within themodal popup gridview so now when viewing the records you can delete it if not needed. works well.. but now with the updatepanel surrounding the gridview when i click on my "select" link it doesnt execute my
View 3 RepliesI created a database with ID, Title, Content, Date, ImgLnks, Image and Imagecaption and i'm using ObjectDataSource to populate the data. The field "ImgLnks" displays a new blank window with URL. This column is entered as text, inserted into the database and displays as clickable link in the gridview. My question is, is there a way that I can put an Alternative Standard Text in this column instead of displaying the clickable link like [URL] etc.? Text like, "Visit Page".
View 4 RepliesDid you have any issue to show background images in a gridview with IIS 7. I've exactly applied this [URL] and I've no idea why, my css works for the header but not for:
PagerStyle-CssClass="pgr"
AlternatingRowStyle-CssClass="alt"
The alternative row has no background image and the pager too but it works for the header. But when I browse the website online from my laptop, without IIS it works fine. When I check web developer tools from i.e., I've the backround image written in the css so it should come up.
In my Application I am using one Modal popup extender. I have one Grid View with Item Template containing Link button. I want to set Target Control Id of Popup extender to link Button of the Item Template. As it is inside the Item Template I can not access it directly in the page.
So Is there any alternative to achieve the same functionality.
data the exporting from grid to excel sheet correctly but the alternative row style color is crossing the boundries of excel sheet from right side.
View 1 RepliesI have been using Gridviews throughout a website I am currently building, however one particular requirement is to display two tables side-by-side that butt up against each other for the purposes of data entry. One person inputs numerous entries on the LH table whilst a different person will respond to one or more rows in any particular order (ie row 2 may addressed but row 1 might stay blank for a period of days). As far as I am aware, a GridView (or two) won't suit this requirement for the reason (from my still new understanding of GridViews) of not providing the ability for a 'respondee' to address any row in any particular order. Whilst I could add a button to each GriView row which displays a detailsView/FormView horizontally in line, I would still have to populate the Gridview with empty rows for those rows not addressed plus this 'fudging' just doesn't bode well concerning DB management.
It just seems adding two asp tables side by side then somehow working out how to automatically present a new row for data entry for the left hand table and creating a second table being the same size as the first (according to its number of rows) would be the way to go, then the task of data gathering/uploading to the DB. How best address the requirement - there maybe better ways for facilitating data input as opposed to using side-by-side controls, however it is the clients request. Also I don't want to go expelling copious amounts of time to fully customize a gridview when simply creating some sort of dynamic table would be sooo much quicker and easier for this once off. I have tried some searching, however not knowing where to start is problematic as 99% Google results return GridViews (as you would expect).
Question for Print functionality in ASP.Net GridView control artical. I tried you code in my project, when click print current page, nothing happens.
So I download your code into my test web project "WebSite1", greate, it works.
Then in your CS.aspx page,
I added (which is the case of my project of using AJAX).
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> </asp:ScriptManager>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate>
<div> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server"
.......................... gridview stuff gose here .........................
</div> etc etc to close all the tags.
Now run, click print button nothing happens, no any error.
Can you see why put updatePanle for AJAX causing problem ?
I also have to pur EnableEventValidation="false" at top of the page to avoid
Here is the setup:
VS 2008Update PanelIn the update panel, is a gridview, and an asp:panel that contains some other controls, including the button I want to trigger the update of the gridviewThe gridview is tied to a sqldatasource, although I have tried multiple methods to get the data and all failed
Here is the problem:
User logs in and fills out the top part of the form. That submits some data to a table, returns the ID of the row submitted and makes an asp:panel visible (panel.visible=true). This update panel exists inside of the UpdatePanel. The user clicks a drop down list and selects a name. When this happens, another panel becomes visible, using the same process, to allow the user to enter data about the name they selected. So far, everything works.
What Should Happen next:
User clicks "Add" buttonDatabase is updated with the data enteredDatasource refreshesGridview refreshes - It is not visible at load because there are no records for it to show.
What Actually Happens:
User clicks "Add" button Database is updated with the data entered - This has been verified Datasource should update, but not sure it is Gridview does not show.
Here is the code snippet for the Update Panel:

I have a an UpdatePanel that binds data to a Gridview. Within the gridview I have a select button that will pass the selected id to another Gridview that uses an UpdatePanel. The issue I have is when I select a row in the first gridview one of 2 things occur.
1.) The selection does happen until the Timer refreshes. For instance if I select row 1 in Gridview1, I don't see the 2nd Gridview until the Timer refreshes after 30 seconds.
2.) The selection will happen right away IF I click on the Select button twice. (Don't want this...)
Is there something I'm missing that is causing the first click to the gridview to not select that row immediately? What really gets me is if I put a breakpoint on the Gridview1 SelecteIndexChanged, it fires right away and if I walk through the code it selects it right away.
I am new to Ajax. I have problem in paging for gridview which is in a update panel.I set the update panel update mode to conditional. The 2nd page records are not display after I click the 2nd page.for ref:
scriptmanager mode=release,enable page method=true.
updatepanel:always
I have a grdiview with checkbox both are in an updatepanel. What i'm trying to do is whenever a checkbox is clicked i want my labelbox to show +1 and when it's unchecked i want to show -1 .The problem i'm having is i can't access that check box, it doesn't recognized it when i start writing checkbox2 ...... my code looks like this :
vb Code:
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
OnRowDeleting="GridView1_RowDeleting" OnRowEditing="GridView1_RowEditing"

I have two update panels and one javascript control.
When the javascript button is clicked, it forces a partial postback on UpdatePanel2. UpdatePanel2 is populated with dynamically created buttons that have javascript effects (jquery) but when click can also induce a postback. My problem is that, when clicking on these dynamic buttons, the whole page does not do a partial post back but rather UpdatePanel2 itself does a partial postback and everything is gone.
However, what I want to do is be able to tie each of the dynamic buttons in UpdatePanel2 (After being dynamically created) and make them an asychnonous triggers to UpdatePanel1. So that when clicking on these dynamic buttons, ONLY UpdatePanel1 is doing a partial postback refresh. UpdatePanel2 stays put and remains the same.
For some reason, I can't get the Gridview in the Updatepanel to refresh after I've made changes. can someone help?
I'm using the ToolkitScriptManager control and the UpdatePanel.

I have a very simple application that works almost all the time. I am using an UpdatePanel. My script manager is configured to enable partial rendering. My UpdatePanel is configured for conditional update mode. My asynchronous trigger is a timer that runs every 3 seconds. I track unhandled exceptions in the database. I am not getting any unhandled exceptions. Nor am I getting managed exceptions. Now, I had two users side by side running the application today. I had one record in the data queue. The first user did not get updates; her grid did not update. The second user did get updates. The only difference was that the first user was logged in for a long period of time. The second user logged in just before the test. I reviewed the IIS log file and both users were polling the page every 3 seconds for the same data. So why didn't the first user's grid update? The code follows.
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" AsyncPostBackTimeout="30" EnablePartialRendering="true"></asp:ScriptManager>

In my code behind I have the following timer logic. [Code]....
Are there any restrictions on using templatefields in gridview if the gridview is inside an updatepanel?If I click on the imagebutton, I get a exception which I can't seem to figure out.

I have a gridview control inside an updatepanel. When I run the app and look at the source code generated, there is no source code about gridview. So, I can't aproach to the elements inside the gridview.
My question is, where is rendered code of gridview and how can I approach controls inside it?
