Web Forms :: Basic Differences Between Html Server Controls And Web Server Control
Feb 4, 2011
I want to know: what are the basic differences between html server controls and web server control. As I have gone though lots of surfing but couldn't find the exact answer.
I need rft server control not HTML based server controls to display and store text as well as images, from which i can get rtf text and can save it as it is in DB.
I added a Input (Text) control in my web form and turned it into an HTML server control so its an instance of HtmlInputText class.
If I double click on the control It only adds a OnClick event handler method inside the script tags in the HTML doc of the web form but how to I get to handle its Serverchange event exactly? does VS.net 2008 has no ability to auto wire up the event to the control, do I have to manually wire up the event handler?
I'm looking at server controls for the first time, and I've a question about this code:
[Bindable(true)] [Category("Appearance")] [DefaultValue("")] [Localizable(true)] public string Text { get { String s = (String)ViewState["Text"]; return ((s == null) ? "[" + this.ID + "]" : s); } set { ViewState["Text"] = value; } }
I do not understand why this control returns the [id] or the text that is set. I do not see how this makes any sense. Is this just for demonstration or is there a reason for returning the id?
I need to create a reusable custom control, which is like a form containing a listbox and some fields. The fields can be either textbox or combobox as needed for different applications, which can be selected on the property of the form onwhich page that i am using it,also i needed to specify the number of fields in that property. And also need place 3 buttons below for edit and delete the selected item in the listbox and a button to save.Data will be binded from the database as needed for different applications.
tell me with code how to create it using asp.net server control in C#.
i want to know what is the main thing that differ between web server control and html server controlthey both run at server. Is the only difference is that, html server control are light weight??
When a .NET server control is rendered in a browser it is rendered as a html control. Then how a browser differentiate between a server control and a html control. If the two control rendered as same then how server side events fire for a server control? If u say by using runat="server" attribute then also we can add runt="server" for html controls to work at server side... so then how these are recognized?
I have a server control which consists of a gridview with custom navigation&information capabilities and with javascript functions to highlight the selected grid items or highlight when mouse over event occurs.. (full tested outside asp:wizard)I'm trying to use that server control inside a template wizard step, when I drop such server control in the first step of the wizard everything goes ok.
When I insert even a blank step previous to the step which contains the server control, the javasript code of the server control is not rendered at all, the page doesn't fail during load but until I go with mouse over an item of the grid for instance. When I check the rendered HTML I can see no HTML, nor javascript events of this server control where rendered, neither the implementation nor calls to javascript, but even rarer what is there visible in the grid for ie, even the other components of the server control, are not in the "view source code" content. I seems it was sent to the client, even showed, but truncated in some phase..
some differences hosting a website on some remote server VS running it locally on dev environment. The reason why i am asking is, If I run my website locally it works fine no exceptions, runs smooth. But when deployed on a remote hosting server. Its like a nightmare to me :(very often i get object Instance not set to instance of object..... I am ok with the error message, But the same situation should happen locally,
I'm trying to develope a collapsible panel control with designer.
I have the following two classes:
[Code]....
and this one:
[Code]....
In fact, the designer class is a copy of a sample class in MSDN and I only tried to customize it to work for me. I'm not sure if all methods are necessary or not.
I have the following two questions:
1- When I use this contrl in design mode, I can add or delete controls to it, in the html view, tags are not updated. so when I close the page and open it again, all changes are lost.
2- I have added this control to the same asp.net project that is using this control. Isn't there any way to have this controil in tool box?
I try to run each control and then check what html did it render.
But this seems to me as an inaccurate method as whenever we add or remove the properties, or events of the control, the rendered HTML changes. Is there any book/tutorial/article to explain what is the standard HTML rendered by each asp.net control.
is there any way to create a server control from html string, i mean in code behind i have a string like string html = "<asp:CheckBox ID="CheckBox1" runat="server" />";So how to insert it into aspx page and when the page is rendering, it convert my string
I have a dialogue window that contains an Accordion Control that is dynamically built. The only thing that appears on my source page is the opening and closing tags for the control. The panes and the controls that appear on the panes are all added dynamically based on records in a database.
Now here is my situation, if a certian action is performed on one of the controls then I want to save that controls data and make it no longer available for use, this was easily accomplished by having the control hide itself. An issue arises though when I have hidden all of the controls on a certain pane, the header for the pane still exists and this is not the desired result.
What I would like is to be able to dynamically remove the entire contents of the control and then re-build it. Due to the timing of the events in the page post back sequence, a simple call to the method that builds the control will not work and if an explanation is required I will provide one. Also, looping through all of the panes and the controls on each pane will not work since after the first pass through the loop the panes collection is mutated, the enum table for the control is no longer correct since the initial pane has been removed, as a result the for loop throws an error.
Can any one come up with a way that I can clear out the control, keeping only the basic empty structure, and re-build it all in a single post to the server?
I am trying to create an HTML button that can use a C# server side delete function. since I don't know how many results I will have at the page, the control is created dynamically when the end user searches for current Messages: [CODE] CmsContactUsContent += string.Format(" "" + "" + "
