AJAX :: Dynamically Built Accordion Controls / Keeping Only The Basic Empty Structure, And Re-build It All In A Single Post To The Server?
Apr 27, 2010
I have a dialogue window that contains an Accordion Control that is dynamically built. The only thing that appears on my source page is the opening and closing tags for the control. The panes and the controls that appear on the panes are all added dynamically based on records in a database.
Now here is my situation, if a certian action is performed on one of the controls then I want to save that controls data and make it no longer available for use, this was easily accomplished by having the control hide itself. An issue arises though when I have hidden all of the controls on a certain pane, the header for the pane still exists and this is not the desired result.
What I would like is to be able to dynamically remove the entire contents of the control and then re-build it. Due to the timing of the events in the page post back sequence, a simple call to the method that builds the control will not work and if an explanation is required I will provide one. Also, looping through all of the panes and the controls on each pane will not work since after the first pass through the loop the panes collection is mutated, the enum table for the control is no longer correct since the initial pane has been removed, as a result the for loop throws an error.
Can any one come up with a way that I can clear out the control, keeping only the basic empty structure, and re-build it all in a single post to the server?
I am having 2 problems at this time with the ajax accordion extender. At my website [URL] I have an accordion extender for the "Products" button. When I browse my site in IE everything is as it should be. You click on the "Products" button and the accordion expands to show 4 more buttons. However if you browse the site in Chrome the accordion expands and you see an empty pane. I have tried changing many settings in the accordion control and pane but nothing seems to make it work correctly in Chrome.
Another problem I am having is I would like to make the accordion expand when you hover your mouse over the "Products" button. The functionality I want is that it will stay open until you either hover over any other button outside of the accordion, back over the "Products" button again or you navigate to a new page. Here is the code for the troubled accordion pane:
I know about the rules and this is not really a question that can be answered, but I really need with this.I'm making a website that have a javascript music player that cannot be interrupted every time the user changes between pages. So, the site must be a sort of single page, loading the ASPX files with AJAX.
What structure should I use for this? If I use a Masterpage with the player and separated aspx files, will I be able to load these files with ajax?
I am working on a project for a client that started out as a simple CMS with pages, posts, and a directory. The client is constantly expanding the scope of this project with requirements for customization of just about everything. As a single developer, I am having trouble keeping up with the clients time-table. I have googled for software packages that might already exist that proved the features my client needs but I have not found anything. Does anyone know of any pre-built software that allows for the following customization or at least better words to describe this type of package? Here are some examples of the customization that is requested:
A page or directory listing needs to be formatted from an admin-defined template. Within this template there needs to be admin-defined sections that contain admin-defined data types. (This is so the look and feel of the site can be maintained while users can easily build content, add listings, and etc.)Advertising-tiles need to be able to be defined and populated globally and at page level. All user generated content, pages, posts, and directory listings need to be associated with user and have flexibility to show all other user generated content for inter-linking between same users content.Site would need billing/e-commerce system for premium listings, premium posts, advertising tiles, and etc.Approval system for all user added or edited content (pages, posts, directory listings, etc.)
I'm going through the tutorial on this page, but when I programmatically add the second AccordionPane, the program went wrong. Following is my code and error message.
[Code]....
The error message is: Multiple controls with the same ID '_header' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs.
How would I create an AJAX Accordion pane from the code behind? I would like the user to be able to click a button to add a new pane to an existing accordion control. However, I can only seem to create one new pane because clicking the button after that causes the old pane to be overwritten. I have this in the button click event:
[Code]....
A new pane is created with the correct content, but then it keeps getting overwritten. I've looked around and have seen similar problems but no answer.
i need to add accordion pane in gridview for each data in database..this is basically for getting the data from the database to setup like inbox in rediff mail.com..
This is what i am trying to do with asp.net updatepanel.i have button and a panel inside my updatepanel. when the button inside the updatepanel gets clicked i want to dynamically add new controls such as LinkButtons to my panel1 without full post back. Now when the dynamically added controls gets clicked it causes a full post pack and also not calling "LinkButton1_Click" event. i am sure i am doing something wrong here.
The Register action gets called in the Account controller, showing the RegisterViewModel in the Register.aspx view. The form in Register.aspx is submitted/posted with answers to all of the form questions, except for the security question answers. If the user is created successfully, then I'd like to go to the GoToSecurityQuestions view using the code - return RedirectToAction("GoToSecurityQuestions", "Account"); I need to be able to keep track of the user name or ID of the newly created user so that I can persist the security questions to the database records related to the user. What's the best way to keep track of the user info between the [HttpPost] Register( ) and the [HttpGet] GoToSecurityQuestions( ) ?
[HttpGet] public ViewResult Register() { return View(new RegisterViewModel()); }
As per my need I want to dynamically load accordion pane and inside that I want to load an ascx control. I am attaching my code for reference. But when I run my code it does not create separate pane.
i m using an ajax accordion control. i m generating the Accordion Pane, header and content dynamically. i have two cssclasses for header. now i want to do is like that for the 1st header there will be different background image then all other headers in the accordion panes. can any one tell me how can i able to do this? is it possible in the accordion control or not?
I have a .Net Web page that refreshes every few minutes, and all of this works fine. However, a user has made a request for some enhancements. There are two requests, which I am little unsure how to do
1) On my page are scrollable panels, what the user would like is for the position of the scrollbars to maintain their scrollable position during postbacks, because the scrollbars return to the top of panel during each post back. How do I keep the scrollable position of the panels - I have only 3 panels to content with
2) Inside each panel, are dynamically added controls, and these controls have an image button with some javascript which hides or shows a div tag. What the user wants is to maintain the show or hide of a div tag on each of these dynamically added controls during post back. How do I do this?
reading on the forums about assigning event handlers to controls that are dynamically created via code and am just not getting anywhere. In my particular case, I'm rolling through a directory of images and creating ImageButton controls on the fly and want to assign the OnCommand event to a single handler. Then, by using the CommandName (which is different for each control) I can figure out which ImageButton was clicked and act accordingly.
The snippet below (which can be found in many posts on this topic) is inside a foreach which loops through the directory and gets each FileInfo (fi). Each is then added to a PlaceHolder (phImages).
[Code]...
This code compiles and runs but the event handler is never invoked when an ImageButton is clicked. I believe this is because you cannot, without some coding I'm not familiar enough to do yet, assign a handler to multiple controls.I say this because I ran into a similar problem in a Silverlight app I wrote and had to use a lambda (=>) operator to do something similar (although I admit to not knowing enough about this to know if this situation is the same).
I was asked to build a couple of small and basic websites, without the use of database connections, just plain forms with information and a couple of images and forms. So my question is, if I only use those "html" controls of the toolbox, the performance of the site will increase against those with lots of .net controls?
Some one told me to use php or any script language to do that kind of stuff, but I only know to code in .net.
I have a Gridview that I am trying to add Paging to, however when the 2nd page is selected I get my EmptyDataText.n reviewing multiple sites and forums they have stated to send your Datatable to a Session - What am I missing here?
Then in my code behind i have the following set up in 4+ button events, since each button serves a different purpose.. Prior to this past week, i was only working with 2 gridviews on the page.. that were linked to this datasource.. so everything was fine.. but recently had to add a Datalist to display the results a certain way.. I got it all working, but now that more records are in the table the datalist is growing in length on the page and cant figure out how to modify the current code to enable paging without having to redesign the logic all together to get it enabled.
Based on what i have below and above, is there a solution i can implement to implement paging ONLY for the Datalist? Or if it cant be specific, if enabled, will it affect the gridview that is already configured to enable paging, which already works?
I am working on form, which send input to webservice via post and display result. It must be simple, and it works fine on localhost. But when I try to use it agains live I have error 500.
i am building my objectdatasource dynmically when certain buttons are clicked on the page.. and with that the gridview is being displayed with the results of the objectdatasource that was built.
So my gridview code looks like this:
[Code]....
How can i enable sorting and paging if the datasource is being built on button click event?
I want to know: what are the basic differences between html server controls and web server control. As I have gone though lots of surfing but couldn't find the exact answer.
I run into this problem while playing with accordion for a project. Sometimes VS 2008 auto generates code, without me wanting to!!!. Less generally I have an Accordion with 2 Accordion Panes in it. When modifing properties of the Accordion VS 2008 adds an Accordion extender and duplicates the two Accordion Panes!
My original code

I have SQLDataSource for my gridview. By default it works fine but i need to determine a few things before calling my procedure. By this i mean i need to determine a few things about the fields completed and set a flag to determine where the procedure will look.
I found a few examples online on passing parameters in code behind, but cant seem to get them to work. Here is what i tried and cant get results back. When i execute the procedure on the SQL side with the same parameter values, it works, so i know its returning results, so means my values are not being sent or im doing something really wrong. I have some of the lines commented out so the page can load and display for now.. but i need to get it working with custom parameters and flags.
