i would like to know how to get basic information about a multimedia file like avi, wmv, etc...
in windows explorer when i click property of those kind of file and go in Details tab, i can have width, height and duration of the video file.
is there a simple way to got those information in asp or c#?
i would like to prevent of extracting bitmap from those file, i just want the basic property i write above.
I was wondering if a user logs in using the login controller for asp.net, how do I display the users information in a "My Account" page. Do I simply do that through C# and SQL? Is there something that gets stored when a user logins already so I can return the username anywhere in the project?

I am trying to figure out what are the basic assemblies required to run a basic ASP.NET 4.0 website. Say.. a website with just a label in it. I looked online and didn't find a list there. I know installing the framework 4.0 will give me all the dlls but I just need the basic ones that will make a basic site work on ASP.NET 4.0.

I have a grid which has three columns FilePath|Open|Download. My scenrio is to track the browsing information of particular file opened or download in XML file. In future i have to read and maniulate the same XML file for reporting purpose.

The problem is, i need to pull the video duration in from the file, and the ffmpeg output even says it, but when i tell the parameters to do the ffmpeg -i filename > fileinfo.txt it still doesnt take that information.
how i can pull this type of information?

If they need to edit anything in it, they will click the "Edit" link, make their changes and click the "Update" link. I'm developing a website that has modular section. I would like it that when a new aspx (and aspx.cs) file is placed in a subdirectory of the application that I can ask the class some information...The idea is that when the file is placed in the directory a new menu item is added to the menu. To do that I need to "ask the class" for its name, icon, description, etc. Is there a way to determine the class that is defined in codebehind file and to instantiate an instance of it?I know I could look for and parse a config file for each plugin but I would rather not have to go that route.

I am reading an excel file in C#.NET. The data is being read successfully but there is problem with some hyperlinks stored in the excel file. I can read their text but i dont know how to get the underlying link/url of the column. I am building a web application. Here's what I do.
Set the solution Configuration Manager to Release. Thus all projects are building the Release version. Then I clean the solution and build all. Then I "Build Deployment Package".
When running the installed code from the deployment package I notice when there is a bug in the compiled source the source file appears! How is this possible, I am building the Release configuration. The source code is definitely not in the release so it must be in the dlls.
Is there a way to stop this?

There are some .txt, doc and other extension type of files in a folder now i want to add custom properties on all file how to do it ? there are already some attribute like Location, Size, Size on Disk, created on , modify on so i want to add another property like "version".
