Web Forms :: Changing Checkbox Change State Does Not Fire Check_changed Event?

May 9, 2010

I in page load i change the checkstate of checkbox false to true or true to false, in turn which i expect to fire the check_change state but seems not firing the event

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
chkDegisim.Checked = true;
chkDegisim.Checked = false;
}
protected void chkDegisim_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
int a = 1;
}
when i put a breakpoint to chkDegisim_CheckedChanged, it does not fall into the event chkDegisim_CheckedChanged.
chkDegisim's autopostback is true and i have declered chkDegisim_CheckedChanged event in aspx.

why it does not fire chkDegisim_CheckedChanged event?

Web Forms :: Checkbox In Gridview Doesn't Fire OnCheckedChanged Event

Oct 26, 2010

Here is my situation: I have a overview of subscriptions that look simple:

Active (bool), ID (int), StartDate (datetime) and MaxUsers (int).

I've put this in a Gridview and it renders nicely.

Now everything is simply in ItemTemplates and are formatted.

Now a new feature: In the Gridview active should be a checkbox and when clicked on it, it should (de)activate the subscription. Or simply said, Active status is updated. Now me being a simpleton thinks:

[Code]....

and the cs:

[Code]....

But! the event doesnt get fired. Now I've searched with google and also through this forum and every time I get the answer: autopostback on true or use commandname. Now for this little feature I think the commandname use in combi with rowbound is overkill for such a little thing.

Now I hope I'm just missing something because this would be really nasty and stupid to make it so complicated. I like the autopostback and oncheckchanged combination because it logical, but why doesnt it work?

Viewstate - CheckBox Does Not Fire CheckedChanged Event When Unchecking?

Aug 11, 2010

I have a CheckBox on an ASP.NET Content Form like so:

<asp:CheckBox runat="server" ID="chkTest" AutoPostBack="true" OnCheckedChanged="chkTest_CheckedChanged" />

In my code behind I have the following method:

protected void chkTest_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
}

When I load the page in the browser and click the CheckBox it becomes checked, the page posts back, and I can see chkTest_CheckedChanged being called.When I then click the CheckBox again it becomes unchecked, the page posts back, however chkTest_CheckedChanged is not called.The process is repeatable, so once the CheckBox is unchecked, checking it will fire the event.I have View State disabled in the Web.Config, enabling View State causes this issue to disappear. What can I do to have reliable event firing while the View State remains disabled?Update:If I set Checked="true" on the server tag the situation becomes reversed with the event firing when un-checking the CheckBox, but not the other way around.Update 2:I've overridden OnLoadComplete in my page and from within there I can confirm that Request.Form["__EVENTTARGET"] is set correctly to the ID of my CheckBox.

Forms Data Controls :: Text Change Event Should Not Fire?

Dec 29, 2010

Kindly, see the following image. This is my Gridview with separate paging on the top right of the image. The arrows are Image buttons and the right text box is read only.[URL]

I run my page for the first time everything runs perfect. I move to other pages of the grid still perfect. Then i move to other aspx page and then come back. The page loads perfect with the old page number there still perfect. Now if i press any image button then the text change event fires which should not fire.

Note: i need the text change event as i user randomly enters something in the text box then i have to handle that.

Example:

When i return from the other aspx page then the value in the Page Number text box is lets say 4. Then i press the Back image button and a post back happens. The Value in Text box is still the same 4. Then y the event is firing ???

I am not understanding that why this event is firing. On the page load, i retrieve the values from hash table (The hash table is stored in session in base page) and from the hash table i get the pageNo and assign it to the page No text box.

Here, is my one of the image button event. (Remaining image button events are almost same)

[Code]....

My text box change event.

[Code]....

My page load Code: Note: PageUniqueIdr = PageUniqueId retrieved from the QueryString.

[Code]....

State Management :: Asp:Timer OnTick Event Does Not Fire?

Dec 8, 2010

I need to have a timer to count down a multiple-paged online quiz. The timer countdown should decrement consecutively on each following page. It is tricky to use javascript to maintain the timer value across multiple pages through sequences of postbacks. So, I have been searching a server-side solution and found this:

http://forums.asp.net/p/1621352/4161304.aspx (see the response by Wenchao Zeng - MSFT, the 4th post in that thread).

I created a small web application to test it out and it works great. But when I put the code into a header user control (Header.ascx) in my quiz application, the Timer control's OnTick event never fires. I put a break point in the first line of Timer1_Click, but the debugger of visual studio never gets there.

I tried this:

[Code]....

The code behind is the same (except maybe UI control names) as the one we see at the thread I referred to above. But Timer1_Click never gets executed (and hence my countdown doesn't get displayed). The CountDownTimer class works just fine because I can see from the debugger that the time value is decreasing like I want.

AJAX :: Checkbox Change Event Is Not Getting Fired Properly In Update Panel?

Aug 2, 2010

I have a simple Textbox for entering password and the checkbox named Show passowrd beside it. Textbox mode is Password by default. These controls are in the table and I am using Update panel on top of the table. My application framework is 2.0 and I am Using ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions.

Now When i write some text in the textbox and check the Showpassword chekbox then the checkbox event is not getting fired. when Second time i click it then the event is fired and text in the textbox is removed and the textbox mode is set to the SingleLine. This functionality I am achieving by writing a code in the CS File.

When I remove the Update panel then the event is fired correctly everytime, but when usign Update panel and some text in the textbox then i have to check the checkbox twice for the desired functionality.

Forms Data Controls :: Changing In Gridview With Checkbox

Aug 14, 2010

First off, sorry if this is in the wrong section. I have a gridview that loads from a SQL database. It has three columns, the first being a template column with a checkbox, the second being a name from the database, and the third being a field from the database related to that name. (the third column is empty). I want to be able to click on the check box in each row, and automatically have the third column populate with data that the user can select from a drop down list at the top of the screen or something. I am using VB, and I basically just need a way to make this checkbox, add a value from somewhere into the database. (Also, I know that I can just use Edit in the gridview to change data, but there will be a long list, and that way gets quite time consuming) I hope this makes sense, if not I can try rewording it.

Forms Data Controls :: CheckBox Checked Changed Event Is Firing For Every Control Event?

May 8, 2010

I am facing one strange problem,I have a gridview in which the last two columns have checkboxes and on those checkboxes click event I am doing some database operations.I also have one checkbox that is outside the gridview which actually shows or hides some of the gidview columns.This was all working well but now I have shifted that grid to a user control because I have to use it in two pages.The problem now is,When the page first loads and I click the check box or any control in the page that is outside the grid then it works perfectly.But once I click any of the check box within grid view column then its behavior chages, now even if I click the checkbox that is outside the grid then also the checkbox_CheckedChanged event of the checkbox that is whithin gridview is fired.That checkbox event then behaves something like a page_load event that is called for every page load and for every event with in the page after it is called once.

C# - Button Event Does Not Fire, As Its Being Blocked By Another Event On Dropdown Occurs (uxFromDate_TextChanged)

Nov 23, 2010

I have a button which has a click event but its not firing on the first click. I suspect its something to do with that i am in dropdown box control so when i click the Button the event for the dropdown box occurs (textChanged) but it forgets about the click event

Of course if i click it a second time it works.

Or if i click somewhere else first so that the event TextChange occurs and then click the Button the first time it executes..

Is this normal and what are more workarounds if any?

basically the TextChange event must fire but the button click event must fire as well.

All the events i am talking about are ASP.NET events.

here is some examples of the events i am using - both the button and dropdown

uxGetData is a button and uxToDate is a dropdown box

For example, I made setSpare column and given the value to show bit data type such as 0 or 1 using checkbox(false or true). If some data has non setSpare(means 0), it wil lbe come out uncheckbox. If I want to check it and clicking submit button, It was not change. I am going to show the code below.
