Web Forms :: Firefox Bug - Event Validation Is Enabled Using <pages EnableEventValidation="true"/> In Configuration?
Apr 14, 2010
i'm getting this error:
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.
for some reason i set enableeventvalidation to false but then, its giving me problem in FF 2.0
I have a TabContainer, within a tab, i have a gridview, within the gridview i have a ImageButton. When I click on the ImageButton, I will call a javascript. The javascript will call a Hidden Button click. This hiddenbutton is the TargetControl of the Modalpopup so that when I click on the ImageButton, modalpopup is trigger. The Popup panal, Hidden Button and ModalPopupExtender below:
I have two asp.net buttons in my page.If i make button cause validation false then am able to fire button click event on server side but not able to validate text box values(but i need to validate text boxes) using required field validator.
I have two update panels and in the second update panel i have asp.net button and onclick of the button in codebehind i have disabled it like btnAddSecurity.Enabled = false;
When I disable the button i enable a cancel button before it and on cancel button when i try to enable the btnAddSecurity.Enabled = true it simply doesn't work. Both of my updatepanels updatemode is conditional. what is the problem?
I have a simple problem: I have a bunch of controls on a page and each one requires a validation. Also, I set control's enable=true/false programmaticaly, based on a checkbox . Now, I would like to disable the validation of a control if it is not enabled.
I've recently enabled Digest Authentication on an intranet website/application I am creating for my company in ASP.NET.
The reason I have done so is because Windows Authentication seemed to only work for some users, and not for others. I could not figure out why nor do I know enough about IIS to try and trace the issue. After some trial and error, I found that digest authentication seemed to give me the behaviour that I wanted. That is: allow only users with a valid account on the domain to log in to the website with their credentials.
The problem now, is that Firefox (3+) seems to ask for the user to authenticate on every HTTP request sent to the server. This does not appear to occur in Internet Explorer (6+) or Chrome.
I've tried searching for solutions but I always arrive at dead-ends. I'll find a discussion about the issue, and every posted solution leads to a dead link...or it's on Experts Exchange and I don't have access to view to solution.
The issue appears to be related (from what I've read) to the way the different browsers send their authentication headers vs how IIS interprets them. I'm not sure what I can do to change this though? One of the solutions I had found mentioned writing an ISAPI filter to fix this, but of course the link to the finished filter was broken and I have no idea how to go about making one myself.
I've tried messing with the NTLM and other auth related strings in about:config to try and force Firefox to trust my server but that doesn't seem to work either.
From a few other sources I've read, it appears that everything should work if I switch back to Windows Authentication, but then I'm back at square one where the authentication would work only for some users and not others.
A solution for either problem would work for me, but I have very little information for the Windows Authentication issue. If someone could guide me through tracing the problem I'd gladly post more information for it as well.
I am a bit baffled... I had my validation working fine till I added a validation group to it. Can someone tell me what i might be missing ? I'm at a loss... As I have another page doing the same thing and it works fine. Page.isValid always comes back as true.( I am just clicking on the button to make all the validation fire off.... )
I added dynamic checkboxlist. The javascript validation for checkboxlist(dynamic) in firefox + asp.net is not working, but in IE its working fine.why the javascript validation is not firing for dynamical checkboxlist.
I have a UserControl, which has few textboxes, RequiredFieldValidator and a submit button. Every thing was working fine and now suddenly the button click event stopped working. If i set the CauseValidation= false for button, then it s working fine, but i can not do that because i want user to enter some value in the textbox.I investigated that it might be RequiredFieldValidatoe which is stopping the button to postback, but why its doing like that if you have entered the values in textboxes.
What is the difference between validateRequest (which validates form and querystring values) and also enableeventvalidation, which works on post/call backs? In specific, what confuses me is that validateRequest can only be possible by a postback as this is how form values etc will be picked up?
I am having a problem with dropdownlist auto post back set to true...
In my project I have to hide and display two other dropdown lists depends on selected index change of a main dropdown..
I set the auto postback to true and I am hiding and displaying the dropdowns on user selection...Everthing is working fine..
But I am having a very hard time when user types when the dropdown got focus..this is very annoying situation..if type one word its doing a postback and they are unable to type further...
is there any way to fire this onselectedindex change event on blur or on enter key press...is there a way of doing it with java script or jquery...
Page B - loads slowly and needs to do some CPU-intensive operations on the web server.
I noticed that when someone is loading Page B, then Page A also loads slowly. This is even worse if multiple users are loading Page B at the same time. Page A won't finish loading until Page B is done.
Is there a best practice for making sure that Page A can still load quickly? Maybe a config setting or IIS setting that I need to change from its default? With 2 users loading Page B at the same time, the web server CPU usage only gets to 30% so I suspect it might be something I can tweak with the settings.
When i'm trying to debug or view pages of my site in browser asp.net dev server doesn't turns on pages automatically and when im trying to go by url it throws me an error See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I dont want to set enableEventValidation to false in config or at page directive.
I have Onclientclick event attached to the button in serverside code like below,
[Code]....
Also, the onClick event is attached for the same button in the aspx page,
[Code]....
The serverside click event should fire if the onclientclick javascript function return true. The "ValidateData()" function is called to validate the entries in the form. This code is working fine in IE. But in Firefox, both events are not firig. If I remove the line "TopPanelButton.OnClientClick =..." then onClick event is firing.
I am using ASP.NET's server-side validation. In the page_load event I'm calling Page.Validate(), and if Page.IsValid is not true I'm then polling the controls to figure out which ones are not valid, and then determining what actions to take.It would be much easier if each control would raise an event as validation fails, allowing me to take action for that particular control. I'm very much a naive programmer when it comes to validation, but is there a way to extend these controls so that a validation error raises an event?
I am trying to validate an email address in a textbox, but when I try to type into the textbox, after I have typed more than about 10 characters, I get the Firefox error 'MicrosoftMvcValidation.js :29 Busy or stopped responding'. Here is my code,
It took me a little while to figure this out, but the AllowPaging="true" on the FormView seems to be the culprit. I don't have much experience paging from a FormView, but for this requirement the customers wants this kind of UI.I have a FormView with DefaultMode="Edit", which is bound to an EntityDataSource. One of the entity's properties, "ExternalID", determines whether some of the other properties in the entity are read-only. For example, if IsExternal==null, the FirstName, LastName, and Email fields should be rendered as TextBoxes. If IsExternal!=null, the 3 properties should be rendered in Label controls.
