Web Forms :: Generating Xhtml In Code Behind - Adding Tags
Sep 21, 2010
I am generating xhtml in code that is then inserted into the page. Are there class(es) that help with adding tags etc. Then having a function that will output it to a string. (like the xml dom api) code like:
I need to be able to remove non-XHTML tags from a string containing XHTML that has been stored in a database. The string also contains references for controls (e.g. ) inside the XHTML, but I need clean XHTML with all standard tag contents unchanged.
These control tags are varied (they could be any ASP.NET control), so there are too many to go looking for each one and remove them. The way they are closed is also varied, so not all of them have closing tags, some are self closing.
How can I go about doing this? I've found some HTML cleaners on-line for including in my project, but they either remove everything or just HTML encode the entire string.
Also, I'm dealing with parts of XHTML documents, not entire documents - don't know if that makes a difference.
An example (not fantastic, but gives you the idea of what I'm working with):
<p><mycontrols:mycontrol myproperty="hello world" myproperty2="7"><SPAN><a href="#"><img title="an example image" height="68" width="180" alt="an example image" src="images/example1.gif"></a></span></mycontrols:mycontrol><a href="#"></a></p>
I have this food recipe asp.net c# application I'm working on and I would like to be able to insert a list of tags into the database for each recipe. So let's say I have three tags (southern, cajun, gumbo) that correspond to a gumbo recipe. How would I insert these three tags into the database from the UI? Would I store them in a List, run a foreach, and insert each tag individually? I'd really like to be able to somehow use a stored procedure to do this.
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { DataSet.DestinationsDataTable GetDestinations = (DataSet.DestinationsDataTable)dta.GetData();[code]....And it's returning this error (on a content page)The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>).
I am dynamically generating script code to return transaction data to Google Analytics using their ecommerce script. The code that generates the script is fully tested and functional on my development machine and when I view the page code the script, along with any values that were passed to it, can be seen above the </form> tag. Happy days, or so I thought. For some reason the code is not being generated when I test it in a live, hosted environment. I cant figure out why this is the case as the code is quite simple. I simply generate the script code and register it on the client side (see code below)
//Capture the transaction data for analytics ecommerce tracking //Generate the necessary script code string strAnalyticsEcommerceScript = Analytics_Ecommerce_Script_Creator(); //Register the script on the page Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "AnalyticsScript", strAnalyticsEcommerceScript);
The page in question is called "Order-Successfull" and is where customers are sent to when they have succesfully payed for an order. On this page:
-The order is added to the orders database table - The customer is emailed an order confirmation email - The google analytics script is generated and registered
The Sequence is as follows:
[Code]....
Whats really interesting is that if I move the Analytics script creator code before the code that sends the emails, the script is generated and can be seen when I view the page code. If I do this, however, the emails do not get sent. If I lay the code out as per the code I have inserted in this post, the emails get sent but the script code is not placed on the page.. The code to that actually sends the emails is quite standard:
I have an xsd that describes XHTML documents. However the application I'm working with may have some selected asp.net controls within to the markup at the point is validated. Therefore the validation fails.
An example control could be:
<smart:Address runat="server" />
I wanted to add a new element to the xsd file but when I specify:
<xs:element name="smart:Address">
I get validation errors as an element name must not have a colon in it.
how I might be able to extend the schema file to allow selected server controls?
I programatically add meta tags to the head of each page using htmlhead, specifying the name and content. I now need to add new meta tags with property and content.
My requirement is to catch the event of an HTML tag being generated because of an asp.net server side control. I want to add an attribute in the HTML tag. For e.g. the following asp.net code
i want make html table in format so i used follwing code but it just print tags(rather than analyze them as html and give appropriate output )
[Code]....
Output got when tried to use TransList.ToString() output got was <html> <head> </head><body><table><tr><td>1</td><td>11/24/2010 12:00:00 AM</td><td>Paypal</td><td>30</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>11/24/2010 12:00:00 AM</td><td>Paypal</td><td>300</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td>12/10/2010 12:00:00 AM</td><td>Paypal</td><td>240</td></tr></table></body></html>
I need to add Meta tags, description and keywords in aspx page. My aspx pages are in master page and I have already added meta tags and description in my Master Page.
Now I want add in my other pages also so if someone search my site on GOOGLE it should look like same as this:
In my .aspx.cs I have a code that reads a .xml file and I deserialize the xml into an object called Post. Problem is that in my .aspx page I have a div and I want to fill in the content of this div from code behind using the html generated from the code behind.. How can I do this?
I've been using EF as my primary ORM for quiet some time now. Today I decided to use EF Code First to create my model for my new project. So I went ahead and read a bunch of documents on MSDN and some blog posts by Scott Guthrie and others. Unfortunately, what I've read does not go beyond the basics of using Code First within an ASP.NET MVC application. But as you might know, in real-world applications the structure of the solution is a little different. Anyway, to make a long story short:
- I created all the POCO files that will be needed.
- I created the SharweEntities class which extends the DbContext class.
- I added the following connection string to my Web.config file
[Code]....
Then I started the application and checked whether a new database was created inside SQL Server 2008 Express, but found nothing. I'm not sure what's wrong but I suspect it might be the way I'm structuring my solution? Here's the structure:
- Sharwe.MVC : The ASP.NET MVC3 Web Application (has nothing except a HomeController and a corresponding simple view at the time being)
- Sharwe.Data : model class and data access logic (contains all the POCO classes and the SharweEntities class)
- Sharwe.Services : Business logic
Here's an image that shows the structure of my solution:
In some crucial projects I relelized that time is one of the biggest concern while developing a project, specially a web application. I specifically about ASP.NET, does any Open Source tools exists for generating code for helping developers [like codesmith] to work smarter rather than work harder?
I have a GridView inside of an UpdatePanel and the buttons for edit and delete into a templatefield
For the delete button, I also have a modalPopup extender and a confirmButtonExtender, due to the problem of the pannels flashing momentarily (and that is very ugly) I have created a css class with display:none
for the delete button I have created a javascript function called changeVisibility(id) to change the visibility
Here ir some code:
[Code]....
The problem is that when I execute the page, imagebutton onclientclick appears like this:
onClick=""
why is asp.net not processing correctly that, and, if you know another way to hide the panels before they flash on startup,
there are some way of generating the application form source code for an database tables in c#, but i not need a dynamic application form like Scaffolding i need the source code of application form
I'm using an ImageButton inside a repeater with an ItemCommand. The repeater is used as a trigger to an UpdatePanel. The XHTML generated puts an 'ItemCommand' attribute in the <input> element corresponding to the ImageButton. This causes XHTML validation (using the W3C validator) to fail, because ItemCommand isn't a valid attribute for input.
I've Googled and found nothing about this, and the MSDN page assures me that asp.net generates perfect XHTML.
Is it possible to access a code behind property for a server tag? I have a property on my code behind page that i want to pass into a javascript function i.e.
I understand how to localize controls like buttons etc. I'm wondering how to accomplish the same thing with META tags.We use the following code to set META tags from code behind:
Title = AppConfig.CompanyName + " | [some prose that is specific to the page"; // Build META tags
I'm building an asp.net app using themes, and I've assigned a theme to the app using the web config.
I have a bookmark icon that I want to use for my page and it is located in the themes directory, but I am having trouble referencing the themes location from a link tag in my header.
First I tried putting a code block inside the link tags href element, which did not work. Instead all it did was html encode the <% characters and output it directly to the browser:
I am able to put a code block inside an element in an hr tag though, so I don't know why it won't work in a link tag:
<hr test="<%=Page.Theme %>"/>
Then I tried doing a Response.Write inside the head tag, but I got an error saying the Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks:
Inside my Asp.Net MVC application, in the comments section the user will be able to add html tags (p, h1....) but the problem is: how can I remove any malicious code (script...) from the code the user has submitted?
I am creating a custom control and was wondering if it is possible to render any JavaScript in the head tags of the page it is placed on? I am thinking I would need to use the FindControl method, but am not sure what I need to bind to. I am thinking the page object? Let me know if I am thinking in the right direction or if there is another option.
My only concern with the above mentioned idea is that how do I render all my content while placing some code in the head tags?
