I am running a website from IIS on one computer and I want to view the web page on another computer. the only way I can do this is by using the ipaddress of the computer with IIS on it but would rather have a url. How can I generate a url or use a domain name from [URL]. I signed up for an account on that website but dont know how to use it. I dont know how to configure it.

I'd like to mimic the behavior of the "profile provider" that is available in .Net. The profile provider acquires profile properties from the web.config and those properties are immediately available as an enum for use in the code behind.I'm unsure how to do this, and wondered whether someone may be able to help.Essentially I'd like to allow developers to enter Role information into the web.config, and then have this role information available for use within an enum in the codebehind.

So I have an ASP.net application, with an ActiveX Control which brings up a pop up
When I point to the application directly through IP there is no problem with the pop up eg. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/MyApp (under Default Website in the IIS -- IIS 7) Problem arises when I set up the IIS to point it to a domain [URL] which points to the above IP (under another "Site" i.e. not the "Default Site in IIS 7)
I then get this weird
Microsoft .net Security Warning Never enter personal information or passwords into a window unless you can verify and trust the source of the request.
Source: [URL]
The site is in the trusted list -- just like when I was using the IP only . Is there any setting in the IIS I need to tweak for IE to trust me fully.

Ok so I've created a login page that accesses my Active Directory and challenges against it. What I would like, is if a user is logged onto the computer within the intranet with Active Directory Credentials for them to bypass the login to the web page.
However if they are outside of the building on a random computer, they should be presented with a login box just like they are now.

I'm creating a web site and I have this question, I installed a label with the name Userlbl in the master page, and the idea that I have, is when somebody opens the website, the label shows the computer's user, in my case Welcome: "Charly_csh"
I tried with this code, that I used before in access and it works, when I load the page on the localhost, but when I load on the server, it shows NETWORK SERVICE
The code is this:

I've been a VB programmer for years, and friend asked me to write a program that does data storage and is executable from PC & MAC browsers. It seems like I need ASP.NET for this, so I tried to write a server-side 'hello world' ASP.NET program. I did this using VWD 2010 Express, and after successfully 'building' the website, it works great if I view it on the development machine. But when I copy it to my web server (running on a Windows XP Tablet machine) and try to view default.aspx, instead of getting a nicely-formatted page, my browser (IE8) is displaying the HTML source code. I tried hosting the site on both Apache and IIS , and I'm getting the same results.
1. What am I doing wrong?
2. Is ASP.NET the best platform for building a database-based application that can be viewed from both PC's and Macs? If so, should this work from iPads / Safari as well?

I have a simple page, which have a couple of textbox controls for order number and id, and a Button control which takes the input from the textbox controls to search in database.
I found that if I type something in the textbox control and hit enter key on the keyboard, rather than use mouse to press the button control, the page will be redirected to the startup page of the web application.
I am wondering is that because of the default setting of the page or anyway I can fix this?

I have a logout button on the master page.
I have a textbox on my subpage.
When I click the text box i notice that the logout button on my master page gets focus. So if the user types something in the textbox and then presses enter/return (a common reaction it appears) the user inadvertantly logs themselves out as the logout button is triggered.
Is there any way of stopping this?

Is there an easy way to get all information posted to a page into a querystring.
ex: page1.aspx
from
name=mike
address=street
then on page2.aspx
creating ?name=mike&address=street
I want to do this without requesting all individual fields of course, just a routine

I have a page with several asp buttons defined on a Master Page. I only wish these buttons to be activated when they are selected by the mouse click. I have one button on the content of the form, that is the button I want to execute if the user hits enter and it is selected or they use the mouse. So in a nutshell. how do I stop the buttons on the master page from executing unless the user mouses them?

I need to query a database and return list of names, then I need to display their pictures and information in a Web Page, using ASP.NET or using JavaScript. The main concern is displaying the pictures and information dynamically on the page in an organized way.

I have a master page which includes a search textbox and a button which posts back to another page. The controls are defined as follows:
<asp:TextBox
ID="SearchTextBox"
runat="server"
style="margin-left:
0px"
Width="170px" />
<cc1:TextBoxWatermarkExtender
ID="SearchTextBox_TextBoxWatermarkExtender"
runat="server"
Enabled="True"
TargetControlID="SearchTextBox"
WatermarkCssClass="watermark"
WatermarkText="Search Name" />
<asp:Button
ID="SearchButton"
runat="server"
Text="Search"
PostBackUrl="~/SearchPage.aspx"/>
The problem is that for any other TextBox on the page which is using this MasterPage, for example the login page, if you type your user name and password and hit Enter, The page is redirected to the SearchPage. If you click on login buttton everything works fine. How do I make sure hitting enter on the page in any other text box does not post back to SearchPage.aspx?

I have an ASP.Net site that has master pages. The master page has some calls to functions to get information from a database. Then in one of the parts of the master page I have form that modifies that information. So when the user clicks a button the information in the database is updated but the display of that information doesn't update until the page is refreshed or another link is followed.
I would like to know how to force a page to refresh without loosing VIEWSTATE information so that the newly updated data in the database will appear correctly on the screen.
