Forms Data Controls :: Timer Control Timer Event Forces A Gridview Databind Every 10 Seconds?

Nov 25, 2010

VS2010 ( Vb.net ).I have a masterpage that contains a gridview, giving stats and information on client files sent to us. This gridview is updated by means of a timer control every 10 seconds. In my grid I have an image field, to display either a tick .. if everything is ok or a cross for any problems.When the timer control timer event forces a gridview databind every 10 seconds.When the page first loads, i get the default red Cross in the gridview imagefield, however when the timer loops forces a 'databind' I lose the redCross and it is replaced with the default image control ( as if no url is set ) . Then I get a server 404 error.I am using the OnDataBound event to fire my vb sub. I have commented out evertything just to get a solid starting point but im still getting errors.

AJAX - Client Timer Synchronous With Server Timer?

Apr 23, 2010

I'm searching for an example with an client timer that ticks synchronous with an server timer. Also there must be a button on the client side which can reset the server timer to an default value, and with this it also resets the client timer ofcourse. I tried it myself but it seems that there is some postback delay which makes it impossible for me to make it atleast look like it goes synchronous.

I hope somebody got an example for me, the button part is really important because by pressing that button the delay comes.

Web Forms :: Creating A Small Pop-up Window?

Jun 2, 2010

Here is the general idea of what I am trying to accomplish.Upon page load of the aspx, I am dynamically creating a table (that is populated by database information), one of the columns in the table will display a "NotePad" image. When selecting this image, I need it to make a borderless small window pop up with a blank text box inside of it. The user will be writing notes and information in this text box and then selecting a close window button below it to return to the main page. I need to make this as seamless and fluid as possible, so much so that the pop up needs to look like it was still part of the main page when launched. I also will need to require that the user must close the pop up window before returning to the main screen as well.

Using VB.NET, Is there any way to create a pop up window when a specific cell is clicked on (On Click event) , that will display a small (set size) pop up window with it's border but no titlebar, status, menu, etc. That requires the user to click the close button (provided below the textbar) to return to the main screen?I have found numerous posts on pop-ups, title bars, etc, but none have been much help when I try to put it all together.

Web Forms :: Small Gap Between Two Zones In Adjacent Columns?

Feb 25, 2010

I have a WebPartZone in each of two adjacent columns. There is a gap of about 4 pixels between the two columns that I cannot remove.

I have two zones with the following markup:

[Code]....

On running the page, the relevant source code is:

<%-- End of contents and div containers for Column 1 Zone --%>
...jText at the end of this Webpart.</span>
</td></tr></tbody></table>
</td></tr></table>
</td></tr>
<tr>td style="padding:0;height:100%;"></td>
</tr></table>
</td></tr></table>
</div>
</div>
<%-- Start of div containers for Column 2 Zone --%>
<div id="ctl00_Main_MainCol2" class="box33" style="Width:39.9%;">
<div id="ctl00_Main_MainCol2Con" style="width:auto; margin-left:0.0em; margin-right:0.0em;">
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" id="ctl00_Main_ZoneCol2">
<tr><td style="height:100%;">
<%-- The following 2 tables both have cellpadding="2" which appears to be causing the problem --%>
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="0" style="width:100%;height:100%;">
<tr><td>
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="0" id="WebPart_wp1787670866" style="width:100%;">
<tr><td cellpadding="0" style="padding:0px;">
<div id="ctl00_Header_WebPartManager1_wp1787670866"></div>
<%-- Start of contents of Column 2 Zone --%>
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="10" style="border: thin solid #000000; background-color: #8db3e2; width:
100%;">
<thead>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td><span style="font-size: 12px;">Text at the beginning of this WebPart....

Two of the tables, which I think are rendered by the WebPartZones, have cellpadding="2". This seems to be giving the 4 pixel gap between the columns.

I am having an issue with the hyperlinks that are created as part of a horizontal menu control. You have to position the cursor in a very narrow range near the very top of the menu option to find the hyperlink associated with that menu option. This is only the case with Firefox and Chrome. You can try it for yourself at [URL] Try clicking any one of the horizontal menu options ("Services" for example. You will see that it is very particular where it will allow you to click to activate the hyperlink. Markup:

Web Forms :: Resize Small And Large Images To Match The Height And Width Of Image Control

Aug 18, 2012

In my Web page,I have a Div section with height=302PX and width=302PX.

In another page,I had a File Upload control. When we will upload the image,then the image will be displayed in that Div section.

1.When the image is large,it should be re-size and display in that particular Div section completely.

   For Eg:The image size like 350PX*350PX and 1024PX*1024PX, it should be re-size to Div Section size has 302PX*302PX.

2.When the image is Small,it shouldn't be re-size and display in that particular Div section completely.

   For Eg:The image size like 50PX*50PX,100PX*100PX and 302PX*302PX ,it shouldn't be re-size and display in that Div section.

   For Eg:The image size like 15PX*15PX these will appear very small.But When uploading the file these images also should displayed completely with as it is  in that  Div section.But the image will displayed neatly.

3.If there are any tools for these type of conditions using ASP.Net.

Web Forms :: Turning Off The Timer?

Mar 8, 2010

I think I know the answer to this, just want to make sure.

Question: there's no way to turn off a timer in ASP.NET on the client side (easily—I've seen the undocumented hacks on the net). Therefore, you have to set up you own logic client side while the timer is running server side, correct?

I went through these examples and understand them:

http://www.asp.net/AJAX/Documentation/Live/tutorials/IntroToTimerControl.aspx

http://www.asp.net/AJAX/Documentation/Live/tutorials/TimerControlWithUpdatePanelsTutorial.aspx

So, the pseudocode for a trigger done programically—so you do something when somebody clicks a button Button1 would be-- after you set up a ScriptManager, UpdatePanel and suitable ASync PostBack triggers in XAML (as per the above links) so that the Ticks event is triggered in the UpdatePanel:

public partial class MyWebForm : System.Web.UI.Page

{
bool myTriggeringBoolean; //used to turn off and on code in the Timer's Tick event [code]....

Web Forms :: Using Timer Control For Incrementing Variable?

Mar 25, 2011

Here upon loading the page there will be 4 panels having their own timer controls (having interval 1000) for incrementing a variable "a". But the problem is that, as I have used static variable that's why all the timer's are sharing the variable "a" and creating a problem like each panel's label showing a value incremented by 4 after every second.
