The problem appears when the page was not used from more than 20 minutes and the user select something from the comboBox and hit Go Button the receive a page indicating the Error 404.The only thing that I try is to use a javascript code that Refresh the page every 15 minutes but is not nice to see a page refreshing without a reason.If someone can have a way to identify what can be done in this problem, Its going to be a huge help.

This is working fine on the surface, but after applying debugging i saw that there were unexpected number of calls to Session_Start and Session_End events for two times, then login page was opened.
Why Session_Start and Session_End was called two times ? If i left this process as it is working then may i get some serious error in future ?

Web Forms :: Page.IsPostBack Is False Incorrectly After Page Is Idle For About 20 Minute?
Feb 8, 2010When any of my page is idle for about 20 minute, and after that if I hit any button, like Sumit Button or any other button, at this time, Page.IsPostback is again False, and none of the click event is fired and page gets reloaded again.
This happens only if I go like this, open up any of my webpage, keep it idle OR do nothing for about 20 minute, exactly on 21st or 22nd minute, Click on any of the button on the page, and the page gets reloaded, click event does not get fired. I debugged for this and I checked the Page.IsPostback value at this point and I got it as False after 20 minute, I don't know why. It should be True. And because of this my page gets reloaded and nothing gets submitted and every control is in the blank position once again and user have to enter everything again.
But if I enter everything and hit any of the button or Submit button within 20 minute, then everything works fine, Submit button's click event is also gets fired and everything works perfect.
And this is happening in all of my page. I am not sure what configuration is wrong.
But just for more details, I have a master page, I am using Telerik Controls and I have session Timeout set as 60 minute everywhere, in web.config and in IIS settings and in my App_Pool also. On my Master Page, I have ASP:ScriptManager, Tekerik:RadMenu, ASP:ContentPlaceHolder controls and some other controls and javascript code too.

Textbox are used for login and password. by default Home.aspx opens.....Now when user login then i check the user exist of not in my master page codebehind and then redirect to Home.aspx but this time i want the textbox and button not to be visible. In master page i used session to store the login is true or not and the usertype and then redirect to Home.aspx. but i am not able to use the session.

There is a separate standalone login page that is not design-specific and can show any messages. May 15, 2010I have an application that uses ASP.NET Forms Authentication. For the most part, it's working great, but I'm trying to add support for a simple API via an .ashx file. I want the ashx file to have optional authentication (i.e. if you don't supply an Authentication header, then it just works anonymously). But, depending on what you do, I want to require authentication under certain conditions.
I thought it would be a simple matter of responding with status code 401 if the required authentication was not supplied, but it seems like the Forms Authentcation module is intercepting that and responding with a redirect to the login page instead. What I mean is, if my ProcessRequest method looks like this:

Then instead of getting a 401 error code on the client, like I expect, I'm actually getting a 302 redirect to the login page.
For nornal HTTP traffic, I can see how that would be useful, but for my API page, I want the 401 to go through unmodified so that the client-side caller can respond to it programmatically instead.

Feb 13, 2011I want to redirect the user after 2 mins if there is inactivity for 2 mins. I am not using ASP.NEt membership. And I dont want to use Sessiontimeout for this. Session timeout will logout the user even if he is working on the system. My objective is like screensaver process.
If there is no action for the specified time, the screensaver runs. Similarly, I want to redirect the user to login page.

the user is working on the site...ok.. he want to see someother site.he browse someother site and works on....or even he can do some other work in his system...but he is active in his system... What this script does is, it automatically logout the user and redirect him to login page. But it should not do while he is active...IT SHOULD REDIRECT IF HE IS NOT ACTIVE REALLY (Similar to Screensaver process)
