This is the code behind a button. I get this error when pressing the button: "Unable to download ******* from ********. Unable to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."I have found a few posts about this error but I haven't found any solution yet.This works fine with other browser but not in IE.
Other pages (aspx) are working fine on both http/https, only ashx gives response 404 on https, I used firefox firebug to investigate it.
I have two same virtual directory on IIS, one is mapped for https where this ashx is not working.
I guess some kind of mapping is missing for https on server, not sure where this kind of mapping is stored?
Long story short: I'm basically trying to learn visual web developer/asp.net/and how to get all this to work on a shared hosting environment. The idea is to eventually develop this into something a friend of mine with a garage can use to allow his customers to check their various maintenance records. I basically made a small database with a couple of test tables in it and a gridview to display data based on a variable passed from a text box. I finally got it working on my shared hosting server with just one such 'application', but when I tried to add a second one, both stop working. If I put one in default.aspx, and the other in default1.aspx, they both work perfectly. I've tried using the same dataset for both, and different datasets for each, and same behavior. Also tried using 1 and 2 objectdatasources with the same results. Also tried putting each in their own content placeholders and no change. From my research into the subject, I've come to the conclusion that more than one gridview isn't the problem, so I'm extra stumped now. I'm guessing it's something relatively simple for someone who knows this stuff. Oh, I thought it may have something to do with not using default values, so the 'tables' weren't being drawn, so there wasn't 'room' to do so, but after splitting the apps into two different divs, and floating one bottom/right, again, no change.[URL](first working example)[URL](second working example)[URL](both in same page, not working - might not be up yet if someone reads this quickly)

Above coding is fine in IE but it does not work in Mozilla.
What could be the reason?and what is the solution on this?
I have a SL app that can be run in-browser or out-of-browser. I want the browser to:
Cache the xap file Load the xap from the cache if it has not changed or re-download it if it has changed.

Setting a future expires header obviously solves the caching problem but then I cannot force the user to download the latest version. Normally I would just add a querystring to the url (eg url?v=1) but I cannot do this as this breaks the out-of-browser functionality. eg the app thinks it is not installed when in fact it is.

If I set Cache-Control to no-cache, Chrome and Firefox correctly send a request to the server for the xap but use the cache if a 304 is returned. IE8 just downloads the file again as does Safari.
must-revalidate
Setting Cache-Control to must-revalidate again works correctly in Chrome and Firefox but Safari always downloads the xap again while IE8 always uses the cache.
I have multiple update panels on a page. The page works perfectly in Chrome, Firefox, safari, and opera but it does not work in IE. I am using .NET 4.0.

In my site on every load some session is made through url and single page(say xyz.aspx) is call every time and on the basis of url we create session. When i click on a href tag , page start reloading ,url we created is accurate but data doesn't change every time, means some time it show data on first click, but some time after 3 or 4 click.
I say problem is weird because when i run this on my local server there is no problem, when i run this on my project (visual studio) there is no problem , but when i up this project on my online server it show this kind of error but not every time .
I use data caching to fill dataset. There is no problem in this website since we created this (more than 1 year) and we don't made any change on this page but suddenly it starts showing this kind of error so what kind of error this is.
I can plug a http url into the adrotator fine but everytime I plug an https url in it give me a "cannot find advertisement file or file is invalid. I know these https urls are fine - I've checked them out. .

I have a gridview 'gvTemplates' that loads from the Page_Load method. It is using a stored procedure and this works fine. Then I do a search function on that gridview and that works fine. So when I click the search cancel button, which calls the same exact code that loads the gridview from Page_Load, I get the dreaded 'Input string was not in the correct format'.How can the exact same code and stored proc work fine the first time but fail the second?Gridview:

I am creating a page which contains an updatepanel.
In this update panel there is a grid view in which there is a button. on click of this button i m showing a dialog box which takes some inputs and submits data.
However this all is working very fine untill and unless I use some requiredfieldvalidators to validate the input.
when i use validators, these validators works very fine bt the submit button on popup does not work.
I had tried to use validation group but it still does not work at all.
I've used some Jquery scripts for toggling image on a web user control, it work fine in explorer but got no signs of life in firefox!

I am very new to WCF, I have read a lot and seen several presentations about it. I can get the basicHttp endpoint to work on my server but when i wanted to use https, I found that that endpoint binding doesnt work. I think through my research that the wsHttp binding is what i need. I can get the client to work but the service gives me a few different errors when I try to call the ssl endpoint.
Currently i get the following error:

I'm running into a weird issue that I can't find an answer for anywhere I've looked (and I've looked a ton).I built a web deployment project with Visual Studio 2008 Team System on my old Win XP machine. This has always worked flawlessly and installed everywhere. I can also copy this MSI to my new Windows 7 Ultimate machine and it again installs just fine.
HOWEVER, when I rebuild that exact same web deployment project on my new Win7 machine, also using VS2008, the MSI will build OK, but when I then run it to install my software I get a dialog box telling me "the installer was interrupted." Interestingly, when I built this MSI in my new environment one additional warning popped up during the build process, which was "Unable to copy the schema file '(null)'"After many searches and reading different web pages, I know this has to do with these two registry keys:

Yet, everything checks out. All permissions are correctly configured, etc., etc.Then, when I enable the built-in administrator account and log in as that, and then rebuild this same web deployment MSI the "Unable to copy the schema file '(null)'" warning no longer appears. Then when I log back out, log back in as myself and then run this newly built MSI it installs fine, just like the original one that was built on XP.I also tried uninstalling VS2008 and re-installing it as the super user, but that also didn't change anything. And yes, I did also configure devenv.exe to run as administrator.
Has anybody seen this? Or is it a requirement that you can only compile deployment projects as the super user? That cannot be right.I've been thrashing for more than five days and for the life of me cannot figure this out. Of course, I can run as the super user when developing, but I thought the new security model in Win7 was designed exactly so you don't have to.

I have a browser compatibilty problem with https? I have SSL installed and is in usage. Until today morning, my https part is working well. From then, Https is shown as https(with slashed in red color) saying the page has some insecure content. I have not changed any code and suddenly i see this problem in chrome. In IE 8, i see the same problem but on every page, it shows me a popup if i should allow to opne secure and non secure or just secure. Firefox has no issues . It shows correct https without any problem. I am fed up with it searching all over. Why is this happenening for me in Chrome and IE 8.
View 3 RepliesI have developed a web application, it is working fine without any issues in IE5 and IE6. However it is not getting executed in IE7 properly. The look of the web application was changed and doesn't look as it need to be in IE7. And one more issue is I will be using PopUp windows in the page. When I try to open the PopUp window they were not getting opened. I have checked if the PopUp blocker was blocked, the pop up blocker settings was Okay.. I have cross checked the code it was fine.

I am having some trouble with a panel that contains a table. The td's in the table contain labels separated by <br />. Pretty simple. It looks fine in the designer, but when I run it, the labels overlap each other and it looks like a mess. I only observed this problem after I moved from VS2003 to VS2005. Here is the code:

I am developing library management system in asp.net C#. i want to calculate fine by comparing isuue date and return date. Here Fine is calculated as:
Find the no of days between issue date and return date.
If no of days are greater than 10 then calculate fine using the formula given below
Fine=No. of Days * 10 Rs. (i.e 10 Rs fine per day)
Otherwise there will be no fine.
So i am inserting the record of isuue date in issue table (data type- Date in sql server) so how I calculate by comparing the return date.

View 2 Replies having consistency problems between the web browsers and im pretty sure its gotta be something in my code.Website displays correctly in chrome yet in IE my content placeholder has alligned itself to the left and the errors message shows in the bottom left corner.

I've had no luck searching everywhere for a solution to this. I have a login page that works fine in all browsers except that the user has to click enter all the time. I did some research and used panels which only works in IE, im looking for a solution that will work in all browsers i.e. Chrome, Firefox etc. I've seen some Javascript solutions but these also seem not to work either. The closest I got was a javascript alert to show when enter is pressed but I cant call my login function from there.
