Forms Data Controls :: Gridview Applications Work Fine On Different Pages
Apr 1, 2010
Long story short: I'm basically trying to learn visual web developer/asp.net/and how to get all this to work on a shared hosting environment. The idea is to eventually develop this into something a friend of mine with a garage can use to allow his customers to check their various maintenance records. I basically made a small database with a couple of test tables in it and a gridview to display data based on a variable passed from a text box. I finally got it working on my shared hosting server with just one such 'application', but when I tried to add a second one, both stop working. If I put one in default.aspx, and the other in default1.aspx, they both work perfectly. I've tried using the same dataset for both, and different datasets for each, and same behavior. Also tried using 1 and 2 objectdatasources with the same results. Also tried putting each in their own content placeholders and no change. From my research into the subject, I've come to the conclusion that more than one gridview isn't the problem, so I'm extra stumped now. I'm guessing it's something relatively simple for someone who knows this stuff. Oh, I thought it may have something to do with not using default values, so the 'tables' weren't being drawn, so there wasn't 'room' to do so, but after splitting the apps into two different divs, and floating one bottom/right, again, no change.[URL](first working example)[URL](second working example)[URL](both in same page, not working - might not be up yet if someone reads this quickly)
I've been worked with web services so far, and I'm interested in expanding my services to console applications as well so I started digging up with WCF but I'm conserned that I won't be able to use the HttpContext collection that I've been used to do with web services one important thing which is to generate a random value from HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["ALL_HTTP"] that I need to reckon if it's the same or at least near what machine that is calling my service. How can I overcome this problem?
I need to know what machine is calling to count the number of attempts to login into my system for example. So must do it inside of the svc code otherwise if I let the client inform what ip address or what computer he is using, anyone could forge this argument and surpass by another machine. May be I'm approaching this matter wrongly. And I should count the number of attempts per state session, but how is it done?
Did you have any issue to show background images in a gridview with IIS 7. I've exactly applied this [URL] and I've no idea why, my css works for the header but not for:
The alternative row has no background image and the pager too but it works for the header. But when I browse the website online from my laptop, without IIS it works fine. When I check web developer tools from i.e., I've the backround image written in the css so it should come up.
This is the code behind a button. I get this error when pressing the button: "Unable to download ******* from ********. Unable to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."I have found a few posts about this error but I haven't found any solution yet. This works fine with other browser but not in IE.
At page level I have set EnableEventValidation="false" and at Page_load below code is written:
Code: grdMaster.Attributes.Add("OnClick", String.Format("{1};this.disabled = true;document.getElementById('lblProgress').innerHTML='Generating...It will take approx 30 Mins.'; {0};", ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(grdMaster, ""), "")); Above coding is fine in IE but it does not work in Mozilla. What could be the reason?and what is the solution on this?
We are developing a framework which will be shared accross applications. What is the best way to share master pages, user controls accross applications by preventing other developers to modify the master pages and the user controls ?
Is the following way suitable one ? Embedding masterpages and the user controls in a dll and using VirtualPathProvider to load the master pages and user controls dynamically.
But in this approach developers can not view the design. Is there any other way to convert master pages and user controls to a different format as developers can able to view design?
I am using Ajax ConfirmButtonExtender Control in GridView for Deleting the Record. I am also Exporting the GridData to Excel using Render Method. But when i click on the Export Button, i am getting below error Extender control 'confirmID' is not a registered extender control. Extender controls must be registered using RegisterExtenderControl() before calling RegisterScriptDescriptors(). Parameter name: extenderControl
In my site on every load some session is made through url and single page(say xyz.aspx) is call every time and on the basis of url we create session. When i click on a href tag , page start reloading ,url we created is accurate but data doesn't change every time, means some time it show data on first click, but some time after 3 or 4 click.
I say problem is weird because when i run this on my local server there is no problem, when i run this on my project (visual studio) there is no problem , but when i up this project on my online server it show this kind of error but not every time .
I use data caching to fill dataset. There is no problem in this website since we created this (more than 1 year) and we don't made any change on this page but suddenly it starts showing this kind of error so what kind of error this is.
I have a gridview 'gvTemplates' that loads from the Page_Load method. It is using a stored procedure and this works fine. Then I do a search function on that gridview and that works fine. So when I click the search cancel button, which calls the same exact code that loads the gridview from Page_Load, I get the dreaded 'Input string was not in the correct format'.How can the exact same code and stored proc work fine the first time but fail the second?Gridview:
I am creating a page which contains an updatepanel.
In this update panel there is a grid view in which there is a button. on click of this button i m showing a dialog box which takes some inputs and submits data.
However this all is working very fine untill and unless I use some requiredfieldvalidators to validate the input.
when i use validators, these validators works very fine bt the submit button on popup does not work.
I had tried to use validation group but it still does not work at all.
I have a gridview populated with data coming from a datatable. The data shown in the gridview is dependent on the the choice of a control (dropdown with autopostback enabled). When I load the page for the first time with Allowpaging prperty to false the gridview show all the data correctly. But When I set Allowpaging prperty to True the Gridview shows the data in all pages the same data in first page as when I click Seond,Third,..... pages I find the same data in the first page without changing
iam using asp.net with c# iam sending gridview data in a mail ,but when gridview having many records in pages then, only first page is send in email and other pages are not send , can you correct my code how to send all data in a mail
I have a gridview with a hyperlink control that allows the user to save pages to it (www.google.ca, asp.net, etc). Unfortunately it always adds the server name to the beginning of their link. [URL] I was wondering is there any way to change that within the control. or should I have it pass a query string to a url handler that will response.redirect them to their actual page?
I have a gridview with paging enabled. How can i get the entire checked checkbox values s that i can save it into to a Table.Ie, if i havetwo checkbox checked in page1,three in page Two and two in page three etc.etc. i should get the entire values of a checkbox in a variable so that i can save it into a Table.
I am trying to figure out why it won't display the other results when I click on the second and third links created by enabling the paging option the gridview control. it wasn't displaying properly.. also it may not make a lot of sense.. I'm a PHP programmer... I'm learning asp.net as part of a class and we're instructed to use the drag-and-drop method so forgive me, my asp.net skills are lacking and I am having a hard time learning it. Anyway I'm reposting the current code.. hopefully it will display properly this time. Here's the code for default2.aspx..
gridview (AllowPaging = true)i am trying to select the just added row inside my Gridview with the foloowing codebut i only get the DataKeys of the first page... its actually not working and i cann't find that out.
I am a total novice to VB so bear with me.In my web-based project, I pass an ID field as a parameter in my URL and go through each row in my gridview to find the correct row that matches the ID parameter, like so:
[Code]....
[Code]....
The problem is that this code only works if the corresponding ID is in a row displayed on the first page. I want to loop through each page in the gridview's rows until either the correct ID is found or it reaches the end of the data set. How do I do this? I assume I need another For loop that looks something like...
[Code]....
...that will go right before my other for loop, and one will loop through each page in the gridview. But obviously I've got that For Loop completely wrong. How do I do this correctly?
I reviewed the previous article on a similiar subject, but it was more for C+. I have an Access db feeding a Gridview control, with the defaults of 10 records per page. I know there are more then 10 records for the information I searching on, and pages 2 & 3 are listed in the 'paging' feature in the header. By the way, my page is results.aspx.
Clicking on page 2 results in no additional results being displayed. I understand a little from the other post, that Gridview tied to Access will not automatically show results past page 1, without some additional coding changes.
I have a gridview with 30 columns and I need to print the whole gridview. I tried in some way but its resulting not in good thing. I need to print the gridview in two or three pages. The gridview having paging also in it. How can I do this? I need serial number for each row for all the pages of the gridview in the print part.
My webpage has logo..some other controls and a gridview. The gridview can attimes have huge number of records. So when they save the file as a pdf, and the gridview cannot fit on 1 page...some rows of gridview are displayed on 1st page and then continued on next page no headings...So in order to allow all the text on one page and show the grid properly I have enabled paging on gridview. But now the problem is when they save the final page as pdf, they see just the first page of the grid.is there a way that user can save all the pages(gridview) in same file but separate pages or turning off pagination and displaying the grid on next page with heading repeat?
I have a web app where everytime I upload an Excel file, its contents appears in Gridview, which is binded with a DataTable. Using the properties, I have set paging and sorting to true.
When I input a file using fileupload and a submit button, the web app has page numbers at the bottom appear.
It also correctly sorts it, (my page size is set to 10), however, when i click on the next page (pg 2, for instance), nothing shows up until i upload the file and hit submit again.
I have added a jquey menu in my master page its working fine for those asp.net pages which are at the same level as master page.
But this menu isn't working at all for all of those page which aur in Editor's and Admin's folder. In these pages menu is displaying as simple html menu and unfortunately no jquery effect is shown on it.
I'm very confused why this menu isn't working for the pages which are in a seprate folder while the master page is added at the root level outside of all these folders.
